“we see in Paracelsus not only a pioneer in the domains of chemical medicine, but also in those of an empirical psychological healing science.”--- Carl Jung

He who is born in imagination discovers the latent forces of Nature.… Besides the stars that are established, there is yet another—Imagination—that begets a new star and a new heaven.-- Paracelsus
  4. daily lurker

It is important that the whole thread is read and not just bits and pieces. This particular thread was very contextual.
  5. Some more advice needed on practice

Do you have any groups nearby, in the park, etc, doing Tai Chi? Also, it is better to know one or two things extremely well, than many things only so-so. One of the main tenets of Tao is simplicity. Behave simply and hold onto purity.--- Tao Te Ching ch. 19

  8. Did you ask him if he meant it in a homophobic way? One of my best friends in the sixties, seventies and eighties was a flaming queen. He was one of the main shakers and movers in Seattle. He used to call me his token hetero. Hell, he brought the powers of the local Catholic diocese in Seattle to the bargaining table about gay rights in 1976. My point being that with all that drive and agenda, he still made damn sure that there was no misunderstanding before going off on someone. I talked to Lima and he has gone into that submissive Chinese thing where it had to be his fault because "authority" was angry. But, he really did not understand his mistake, he was having fun and did not know context (he is an old Chinese man in Singapore). You could have discerned that, instructed him, warned him and he would have been better for that, and you would have been impressive in your wisdom and leadership. Instead, you came off as a knee-jerk owner with power.
  9. All or nothing is the exact opposite of balance. Sadly, all or nothing is the norm now-a-days and is becoming boring.
  10. Let things be

Especially since the river is never the same twice.
  11. Let things be

If you really want to persuade; learn to say what you said here in at least 80% fewer words. Truth tends to be succinct.

  14. @Klinsly, That last sentence by dawei (directly above): Read it another two or three times, so it sinks in.
  15. General Billy Mitchell was banned from the military for lunacy. Because, he predicted flying gunships that could take out battleships and accurately predicted the Japanese air invasion of Pearl Harbor, with the subsequent invasion of the Philippines, decades before it happened. After it all happened as predicted, the military in a great oops moment, re-admitted Billy Mitchell and gave him the congressional medal of honor.

J.K. Rowling Despite having authored some of the most famous and successful books of the last century, J.K. Rowling has not been immune to censorship. According to the American Library Association, Harry Potter is the most banned book in the United States, and has also been banned from private schools in the UAE, and largely criticized by the Iranian government’s press. The main criticism stems from religious groups, who have accused the books of promoting occultism and witchcraft. Rowling herself has responded to these criticisms, stating that she is both proud of being on the ‘most banned’ list, but also cautioning parents on the dangers of narrowing children’s imaginative and literary horizons.

Salman Rushdie One of the most prolific writers of recent years, Salman Rushdie’s novels are characterized by a unique style which combines magical realism with postmodernist techniques, as well as by a vivid examination of the interactions between East and West. His work has nevertheless been at the centre of controversy: his fourth novel The Satanic Verses (1988) was banned in 13 countries, including India, Sudan and Pakistan, for its supposedly blasphemous references against the prophet Muhammed. The novel was also the cause of a fatwa calling for Rushdie’s death and announced by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini – a move which fractured all diplomatic relations between Iran and the UK

Born as Tensin Gyatso in Taskter, China, in 1940, he was designated the 14th Dalai Lama. As a political leader of Tibet, in 1951, Dalai Lama was the traditional ruler of the “national autonomous region” that the agreement between China and Tibet stated. However, in reality, China punished religious people of Tibet. Dalai Lama was their number one priority. After he disguised himself as a soldier, he was forced to flee and began a permanent exile in India.

His image has inspired millions. The Tank Man, as history has named him, is, in fact, Zhou Fengsuo. On June 4, 1989, when Fengsuo was still a student and a protester, he watched the Chinese military tanks moving into Tiananmen Square. With all hell breaking loose, Fengsuo just stood there in front of the tanks. He was captured, and after four years, the Chinese government just kicked him into exile. Twenty years later, he returned.
  21. I know you will handle it well! Be well!
  22. Your concerns are being addressed in a normal group way. I have always regarded you well but, as of late you seem to be growing hotter and hotter( more Yang if you wish). If I am in anyway being offensive, please forgive me, for that is not my intent. Still, we all go out of balance to one degree or another constantly. I find that some of my meditations do that to me at certain times (usually because of flushing up subconscious pain). I trust this site. Sometimes it seems to take too long but, it is always a good learning experience.
