This may be his most famous quote. Most of us have seen it before. But I, for one, need to be reminded now and then. A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent upon arriving. A good artist lets his intuition lead him wherever it wants. A good scientist has freed himself of concepts and keeps his mind open to what is. Thus the Master is available to all people and doesn't reject anyone. He is ready to use all situations and doesn't waste anything. This is called embodying the light. What is a good man but a bad man's teacher? What is a bad man but a good man's job? If you don't understand this, you will get lost, however intelligent you are. It is the great secret.” ― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

Until you learn to focus that energy into other avenues-- just relax and enjoy. No need to worry, plenty of applications and avenues are now open to you. This site will be helpful.

Now I see the secret of the making of the best persons. It is to grow in the open air, and to eat and sleep with the earth. Walt Whitman

“If your mind is empty, it is always ready for anything; it is open to everything. In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, in the expert’s mind there are few.” ~ Shunryu Suzuki ‎

‎”The mental suffering you create is always some form of non-acceptance, some form of unconscious resistance to what is. On the level of thought, the resistance is some form of judgement. The intensity of the suffering depends on the degree of resistance to the present moment.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

And I contend that that would be only one of many types. There is way too much effort to create form, function, even a criteria. That is not the way of the Tao. The only sure way to stay on the path is through meditation. Each of us must find the meditation that is best for us and we must be alert to, the subtle changes in, the needs of our meditations as we grow older. Whispers of the Heart, the Spirit, our very blood, when understood correctly, are the best teachers we will ever have.

The greatest weakness I find on Dao Bums is that most of us know too much.

I would suspect that people who have widely searched, for the meditation that works well for them, have a much lower rate of suicide than the general population. Also, the instincts acquired from effective meditation greatly lessens worries about what-ifs.

I can't help myself. This kind of stuff makes me smile and lightens my heart

What I do know is that Tai Chi and other Daoist meditations have made me a calmer, healthier, more rational human being. Even though millions of people have had similar experiences, science has had very little success in cracking that code. That I will continue to become a more competent human (in this journey which I have very little clue about anything) is an assumption based on faith and hope. As always, it has been a pleasure talking to you.

The name “Big Bang” was actually coined by astronomer Fred Hoyle, who was the leading proponent of an alternative theory, where the universe continues forever without a beginning. Dark matter (which holds galaxies together) and dark energy (which makes the expansion of the universe accelerate) are the biggest mysteries that aren't described by the Big Bang theory by itself. The "Big Bang" is a theory and not a fact.

every river has its banks, every ocean has its' shores.

That is a faith based assumption.

It seems to come from a book called Pahlavi? I don't see anything about a core though.

Yeah, I like that.

In some of the older Zoroastrian documents they mention earth being in three layers. The first layer is the crust, the second is a fiery hell but, i can't find anything about what the third layer is. Does anyone here know?
-
How is it that Zoroastrianism speaks so much about dualism, when one of its' greatest proponents (Cyrus) as far as I can tell, does not?
-
Zoroastrians call their prayers Manthras. The official Zoroastrian line seems to be that Manthras are holy spells? If so, doesn't this mean that the mainline Zoroastrians believe in magic? If so, how far does this belief in magic go officially and in what context?

Does anyone know why the Zoroastrians have three calendars?
