No one is expecting anyone to bow! Your post doesn't make much sense to me. Some of us were just debating the plus and minus if engaging in heated political debates, which often results in name calling, insults, personal attacks etc. The amount of time and activity that is generally observed by many as spent on this. If you don't like this discussion, then please stay away. Turning this into someone is trying to make me bow to their discomfort, etc., makes absolutely no sense. You can happily engage in discussing Trump or anything else you want, as long as it does not break the terms and conditions of the site, like personal insults etc. that happens often in the Trump thread.

Thanks for the concern about my personal spiritual progress. Perhaps something I said is pushing some buttons and making some uncomfortable and turn this thread also into some personal, you vs. me, innuendos and attacks, etc. More important to me is the collective spiritual progress for the entire community here.

Everything belongs to God and nothing belongs to the Emperor, since there truly is no 'Emperor'. That is one view. Not sure if this is what Jesus meant here. Still leaves out, what belongs to Jesus. He likes to help people, take their sins/karma and wash it away. May be that's what he is asking as belonging to him. Once a person gets thus purified, they are ready to give everything to God, since they know they are one with the God.

Yes, obviously it has become obsessive. When I logged in yesterday, there were 21 users, 11 of them reading the Trump topic. As you or someone else pointed out, the new activity in this thread sometimes is several times over all activities in entire TDB. At this point we need to stop and question if this is adding any true value to spiritual progress. I am thinking of starting a discussion under the 'Forum...' sub topic to get others opinion. And yes, it's not about Trump, as I stated few posts back, it's our inner demons coming out. People lashing at each others calling them names at times. Here is what I wrote in my PPD for anyone interested in reading, about wasting the valuable human life in such meaningless debates, starting with a parable Buddha narrated.

The point though is not about hiding or pitting this thread. If it's hidden, I am sure there will be a new Trump topic where things will continue exactly where they left off in the old one. It's not the 650 pages thread that is carrying on the discussion. It is the people invested in this topic over anything else, it has reached 650 pages and keeps going on! If hidden, the new topic or discussion will reach 650 pages once again, if we have the similar set of people discussing the topic. There is a old parable in India. They say, you can't hide the comb to stop a wedding! They will find another comb to dress the bride. Hiding the thread by the owner will have similar outcome. There may be some minor shock initially, but it can't stop the political or Trump obsession.

There is always the possibility, it can end up in the pit if it turns really ugly enough. But, if this goes to the pit and is not locked, I am sure the discussion will continue in the pit, where the rules are even more lax than O-G. If this was on the main areas of the forum, this might have been pitted already!

There is a small problem with that question itself. It assumes a complete duality of a separate God and other entity (me) and then God appearing within me. If we have to conceptualize a God, then that God is the one and the many in the world at the same time. There is nothing that separates any of us or the God. So, it is not possible for God to become self-aware as an autonomous entity within anyone. But God can become self-aware, that is sort of what we call as Realization. Then the little 'me' as a separate individual will disappear or become part of that one whole entity. Thanks for the sharing and the questions. Much Love

While I truly appreciate the Yoga Vasishta, the quoted text above talks only about self reliance and effort. Is self effort of jiva or individual enough for self realization? What about surrender, letting go and the divine grace? Is it all just a matter of self effort only? Can we overpower maya, which is a divine force just by self effort? In Gita, Krishna states, the maya of his divine energy is very difficult to overcome. But he also assures on the same verse, those who let go of their individual self will and surrender to the divine, can easily bypass and get through. "My divine energy Maya, consisting of the three modes of nature, is very difficult to overcome. But those who surrender unto me cross over it easily." - (daivi hy esa guna-mayi mama maya duratyaya mam eva ye prapadyante mayam etam taranti te)".

True. We can claim it's for the fun, it's on the side, etc. Is it truly? Many times this discussion obviously turns ugly. Some seem to be really invested in these topics! Doesn't matter if it's for or against, one calling the other fanatic and names.

Welcome Eric! I agree with Marblehead's comments that anything can be presented as evil. There is good and bad in everything. The same knife that cuts the butter can also cut my finger just as easily. If someone who doesn't know how to use the knife properly, gets injured, it may not be wise to just the blame the knife! Cultivation is also just like that. The why, the how, and the careful handling of the techniques are important.

So, you are saying from one form to another, it is just one continuation of flow. How does this differ from the Hindu traditional view with divides soul taking another form. If we describe that process -- from the perspective of an individual life -- as change of clothes, or, choosing a different character and starting from Level 1 of a video game, would that match with your view?
