  1. FIFA World Cup 2014

So what happens now with team USA, after the 2-2 game with Portugal? A commentator said that even if they beat Germany on Thursday, they won't be able to advance further...is that true? I like watching soccer a bit, but don't really pay attention to things like the point system...
  2. What can feminism do for men?

The type of feminism where equal rights and conditions for women is sought, is a great thing. A lot of the time I think it goes far beyond that, though...and then there are people seeking unequal power, seeking to destroy the opponent (men and "the patriarchy"...which doesn't exist), coming from a place of fear and hatred, etc...rather than just seeking equality for the oppressed and justice for all. Of course this corrupted kind (which I prefer to call feminazism) is no good at all, and is destructive to all. As mike123 said, it destroys both men and women. Just as the false kind of feminism is destructive to all, true feminism (seeking equality or basically proper treatment of human beings) is constructive for all. It's important to differentiate between simply seeking proper treatment, and seeking greater power than others. Anyway, I disagree with the quote in the OP and don't see where they got those ideas from.
  3. Mo Pai Question...

  4. This is because it's not a good technique... Why? Because the flow of pretty much all of the channels is naturally upward, even the front channel of the MCO. Also because when you use your mind to sink energy downward, it causes an over-activation of energy in the head, which coincidentally causes the energy to just continue rising. It also causes a counterflow of qi in the channels...which basically means they stop functioning correctly and you just get further strange symptoms. A downward flow done gently and moderately isn't so bad if the practice is done for the right reasons...but even then, contrary to what people think, it actually causes a further opening of the crown and an empowering in the head, rather than a natural flow of energy in the whole body. Just throwing that out there in case you decide it's not working well enough for you.

  6. Keanu Reeves, Immortal

In my book, anyone in the movie Point Break is automatically immortal.
  7. Spiritual types, myself included, tend to view the world in a different sort of way from everyone else. To put it simply: I think we have a harder time understanding society and doing all that's required in it. Here's an article that can help us fill in the gaps and make our lives easier and better, if followed: http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-harsh-truths-that-will-make-you-better-person/ This thread can include all advice for the blind spots of spiritual practitioners, in general (these blind spots of course do not apply to all people with an interest in spiritual things).
  8. I just happened onto this site

    You seem awesome. Welcome!
  9. Filling in the gaps of the spiritual type

    Can you explain more, Dawei?
  10. If you use antiperspirants, switch to regular deodorant. I had this issue back in high school, and when I switched it became totally normal.
  11. Taoist schools - alchemy and qigong

I personally love to learn about preheaven versus postheaven jing qi and shen...but please try to understand what the moderators are saying so this type of discussion can continue. It's interesting and potentially educational. It is true, there are false schools of alchemy...but don't point them out directly, because on this forum that's against the rules. It's like an insult to that practitioner and tradition. You'll get suspended or banned, and then the discussion is over. What's the point of that?

  13. The best seminar I ever took was..

Kunlun 5 day course in Hawaii. The setting was awesome of course, and the teachings and practices were pretty great and interesting...but the main reason why it was and probably will be the best for me is due to the closeness of the students. We all just had good chemistry, compared to some other classes. Although we are truly just acquaintances and have only barely kept in touch, if I met up with them again and they needed some help, I'd do anything for them, just like my closest friends or family...I think I feel this way because we shared a time of deep spiritual experience. Chilling after classes can develop some good bonds. Basically, I just have fond memories of the people there and the limited amount of time we shared during that week. Funny how that can make a seminar great, versus the content of the classes. Having experiences is enriching...it's what you do with knowledge that makes it worth something or worth little.

  15. Mo Pai Discussion and Vote

Voted "no" because there really isn't much to discuss, and it's sort of giving preference to discussion of a certain school. Also, it would only encourage them.
  16. nourishing living environment?

Screens on windows and doors, so you can open them wide and get fresh air. Living close to nature, so your view out of your window is green or otherwise natural, and is not a ghetto strip mall or something. Having plants indoors for the air quality. Sunlight that comes in through big windows in the rooms you use most, especially on the East and South sides of the house (sun rises on the East which is the best type of light, and tends to shine on the South side all day in the Northern hemisphere), with white walls to reflect that light around. Could also use light colored wood flooring to reflect even more. Then your place is bright and fresh and breezy and open, which is the best for your energy...you become like those things. Even when there's not sunlight, I think it's good to be connected to nature...for instance if you're able to listen to the rain, or breathe in the air before a storm is coming, etc. From the feng shui I know of, they say that square or rectangular rooms are better for people than something like a pyramid or a yurt. I personally like the ideas from recording studio acoustical design, where the walls are different ratios of each other (such as, 1 X 1.6 x 1.25). I think that if the acoustics are good, then you know it's following the natural way. Part of good acoustics is having high ceilings, basically over 12 feet...this also provides more room for a person's energy body to take up, which is much healthier than feeling boxed in all the time. Yup...I think the tiny house trend that's been growing in popularity for the past couple of years is a horrible idea. A square room has poor acoustics, and it seems to me to not feel as natural. Living with simplicity is also good. Almost minimalism, but in a more natural way, rather than modern. When things are dirty, clean them. Have a place to store everything. Keep what you have in great condition. I think that having items which have a lot of definition and detail (for instance that bonsai tree which CT showed) can help draw the attention away from being self-absorbed, into the world. If the room is filled with books and dvds laying around, blankets strewn everywhere, ugly carpet, movie posters covering most of the walls, etc...your attention won't care about it and will be inner focused (on the monkey mind). But if the room is bright and fresh, if there are a few really interesting looking things, then you'll be more open.
  17. Hello my brothers, my name is Paul

Paul, Who gave you authority to teach Mo Pai to people? What do you even teach (since the school is closed to Westerners and most have never legitimately studied there, but only heard rumors about what's involved from the internet)?
  18. Mastering the emotions

For people who want to know how it will affect their emotions, they should try the exercise! Look at something and if/when the mind whooshes you off into fantasy land, take note and then go back to looking at the thing only. Do this for like 10 minutes...then see how you feel, and how you react to life's ups and downs during the day afterward. At least personally, I notice more room for positive emotions to express themselves...as well as more of an ability to let things slide, whereas otherwise I would've gotten bent out of shape. It's a great method, to meditate on things with the awareness going outward. Bravo for kind of discovering it for yourself, Kajenx.

  20. HELP!

Yes, in my opinion, that is the only reason they should be used...and never misused.
