  1. Why on earth would one practice more than one system?

I had an experience recently where I was getting poor results from my sporadic practice. Teacher told me to increase the practice...which seemed like the opposite of what made sense. A little gives bad results, so more seems like there will be really bad results. But I trusted, and apparently he was correct. The issues vanished! As students, we truly don't know as much as we sometimes think...but these experiences of stupidity add to our wisdom. To never fail means you don't know anything except one thing...and that's a recipe for failure.

Now that I see how Oklahoma has passed a law which favors Christianity, I'm against the 10 commandment monument. I was unaware of the law aspect previously...assuming that the monument was just there already. It's unconstitutional to pass laws which favor or prohibit any religions...although I'm not sure whether this only applies to congress passing laws, or to the states as well. Word for word, the 1st amendment only says "Congress shall make no law..." but I tend to doubt that the intention of the founding fathers was to allow the states to sneak around the constitution and do something that's opposed to the first amendment.
  3. Why on earth would one practice more than one system?

I have a main one that I do, but right now not all aspects are addressed by it. For instance, it doesn't loosen the mind the way Buddhism does, it's primarily focused on cultivating certain things (building)...and I'm also interested in learning about Buddhism, especially with doing things like tonglen and mantra. So I keep Buddhism sort of on the back burner for when I feel like practicing or when I need to loosen up and get rid of negativity....if one practice needs to go out the window, it's Buddhism. And then I learned Kunlun previously and solely practiced those methods quite a bit a few years ago, so I kind of know what they do...if I want to feel like my physical health is harmonizing more, to get the middle and lower dantian working together, and build some fresh energy, I can throw in the Kunlun method/yigong. So that's really on the back burner...a rare thing to do every once in a while when it's the right time for it. Right now this is what works for me, but I think it's important to have a main practice, and do it multiple times a day to make a few hours, in addition to its philosophy guiding your life outside of practice. If someone doesn't have a main practice, then it's exploration time.
  4. Yes I think reverse breathing activates the TA. Not sure about the brain circulation/TA connection, but it's interesting. About the gut not sticking out...people might want to look into healing the serratus posterior inferior through lots of easy to medium massage over a long period of time, as well as healing the iliopsoas. Why the hip flexor? Because it attaches directly to all of the lumbar vertebrae, and when these muscles are chronically tight it pulls those vertebrae anteriorly, which presses the abdominal cavity forward = gut sticking out. Myofascial work in addition to other forms of stretching such as active isolated is probably the best idea. Also, when there is lower crossed syndrome (which is a result of tight hip flexors), the gut will appear to stick out more due to the positioning of the pelvis...it's like tipping a water glass forward by 30 degrees instead of letting it stand up normally...some water will spill out forward as well. With the structure aligned vertically, nothing is spilling out forward, unless it's actual obesity.
  5. Is the NFL rigged?

I don't watch football that much, but being in Wisconsin I check out the GB Packers. It was my opinion during the Packers vs 49ers game, that Aaron Rodgers wasn't even trying. I told my buddy that I thought he was throwing the game on purpose, and he seemed to agree. However, after that I didn't hear anyone criticize his performance...so I don't know, maybe I just don't watch enough football to really know what I'm saying. edit: Here are a couple figures from the game that I just looked up - "Rodgers had just 177 passing yards—fewest in his postseason career. He was also sacked a season-high four times." (from this site) Rodgers himself said he was disappointed in his performance in that particular game. But good news: the RHCP are playing for part of the Superbowl half time!
  6. Is taking an entire bottle of melatonin safe?

Best method I've found as well.
  7. Should women practice non-orgasming sex?

No one should practice non-orgasm sex. ...not at all kidding about this. "Retention" is harmful and useless in my opinion...if you want to conserve sexual energies, then celibacy (not thinking about or having sex) is the way to go.
  8. You could put it toward this course if you're interested in Buddhism.
  9. It does, as does just a regular "stomach vacuum"...and even exercises like planks get it working. Something kind of counter-intuitive is that the TA doesn't only strengthen by sucking the gut in...it also strengthens by pressing the gut out against something...so for weightlifters, using a belt during lifts will help strengthen the TA. Basically the TA always activates in order to maintain the entire abdominal cavity as one coordinating unit...so if you train in counter-flexion, counter-extension, counter-rotation, counter-lateral-flexion...you will be training the TA in a very functional way.

Not many realize this, but neither do they grow easily in nondogmatic soil.

Apparently you can mitigate the negative health effects of cannabis by cooking with it in various ways...letting the fats in your food take up the THC. Still, it's mind altering so that's not really good. Anxiety is tough to treat. It's really caused by the mind not being able to relax open, and this impacting the physiology.
  12. Expecting magickal shit to work = recipe for failure x 2. 1) Expectations do not usually equal reality. 2) Magickal shit by definition is not usually how reality works.

  14. Parents: be wary of Tylenol

This is also apparently related to the development of autism-spectrum disorders.

For infants and small children I'd say, keep the head cool with cool (not cold) wet washcloths...continually monitor temp and if it goes above 100.4 degrees F, then take the kid in. It can be very dangerous for young kids to have fevers.
  16. Sometimes people who might curse others are called Wiccans mistakenly, when a more correct term would just be witch...and they might even call themselves Wiccan if they don't really know what they're doing. I hung out with a group of these girls in high school.
  17. Well, we don't have the whole story here obviously. I totally agree it's dangerous thinking, but know from experience that groups do stupid magick affecting the lives of others negatively and wouldn't necessarily tell the truth about it. Btw, not saying that anything should happen to this girl. This sums it up:
  18. On the other hand...you guys don't think people cast spells on others?
  19. Happy Guys Finish Last

In my view, it's only science if they used the scientific method and the results weren't skewed by anything (for instance showing a picture of a really attractive person with a neutral face, and then a hideous person with a happy face). It would seem like a shady thing if someone gained profits from these results (perhaps advertising agencies)...but if the results are genuine, does that matter? I also go by 'innocent until proven guilty' in regard to published studies. Why? They're peer reviewed for a reason...to try and make sure that only actual scientific results get published. There should be evidence behind any accusations made against a study, for those accusations to be taken seriously.
  20. Satanic Temple *UP-DATED*

    Yeah, no chance in hell.
  21. Happy Guys Finish Last

Was that a shot at me? If they're feeling happy, they're probably less attractive, according to this study.
  22. Happy Guys Finish Last

Hi my name is Scott and I think that the study is awesome. Science!
