  1. are you speaking of garlic/onions and the like? i recognize this in myself- especially when garlic and onions are eaten raw. a lot of heat is created- i stink of musk, my mind is agitated, and my hormones are keen to hijack my mind's direction. When I cook for myself I don't use them, but it's quite difficult in this society to stay away from them altogether if you mingle with others. Out of all my travels I've noticed the vegetables that are most used by all culture are- garlic and onions!! I suppose we have to be like the peacock and just transmute those "poisons" (this is very debatable, yes) into something useful for our path. Yo dudes, There's some Ayurvedic lineages that forbid those foods, because they cause malfunctioning in the nadis (subtle channels), heart lotus (that which helps keep our "heart open" as commonly understood), and brain cells. I have been avoiding them as much as possible lately...the times when I don't avoid them, I experience some pretty bad effects in terms of health symptoms. Interesting how few people know about this...and how many people think these foods are "healthy".
  2. Issuing A Challenge To The Community

Taking things way too personally. For the record it should be clear that I don't dislike you, more pie guy, nor do I wish you gone. Each taobum is like a different spice added to the dish...without you the forum isn't the same. If you can I suggest you just let the personal shit go and use the forum for its purpose: discussion of spirituality, energy, teachers, systems, etc. Things that are interesting. Not 'everyone dislikes me I dislike everyone' type of posts. Who cares about that?
  3. How important is Apathy?

    Apathy = guilty by association.
  4. True cultivation is very challenging!
  5. Answer to OP: yes, practicing things will make people's interactions with you kind of weird compared to normal. Silence of mind generally means less conversation, which can be awkward. People interpret silence as being threatening to them most of the time, because they can't tell what you're thinking. Methods that dissolve the sense of self are helpful (for instance, red phoenix in Kunlun does this)...people will be much more comfortable around you, and this is on an energetic level. Self-consciousness is the source of discomfort, and everyone feels it...very awkward. So it's good to lose the sense of self completely. And then if you just try to keep up interesting conversation, it will help take their mind off of any awkwardness, and they'll feel better. It's similar to when hearing a good story...you're totally absorbed in that and not even thinking of yourself at all. It's elevating, and causes the mind to go with the flow which feels better. Honestly, it's best not to focus on these kinds of awkward effects though, because they can snowball into something bigger...for instance, if you have the impression that social interaction is going to be awkward because you practice, it will be. If you have no impression, it might be or it might not be...and if it is then you just try to lighten the mood. So it's good to let these things go and actually take control of your life, rather than letting temporary side effects control you and making it into some sort of neurosis.
  6. cat attack caught on video. yes, cat.

I'm no fan of cats to put it mildly. Notice that it backs up while she's kicking at it for it to go away...good, that's what animals are supposed to do, give humans space...but then the moment the woman lets her guard down, and starts to back up since the cat is far enough away, the vicious hell beast strikes.
  7. At least personally, I've been finding that this program is very helpful for understanding Buddhist practice.

  10. How to bring a family member to self-reflect?

If you have a problem with your family member, you have a problem. Resolve that yourself. If you can't resolve it, how do you expect them to? If they have any hope in changing as a result of something that you do, that something will be leaving them alone completely and giving them space...or even trying your hardest NOT to change them. Do the opposite. Love who they currently are, and watch them change. We all fortify our current position against an outside force, becoming obstinate instead of strong. When there is no force, we open and grow. We all do the opposite of what we're told is right, because we want to see the second opinion.
  11. Dream Teacher...?

    Definitely.
  12. What films do you enjoy?

"Mud" is the best movie I've seen in a while!
  13. Krampus: Saint Nicholas' Dark Companion

Krampusnacht would probably be my favorite holiday if celebrated here. Each year for the past few years I've watched, "Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale". It'll be a family tradition.
  14. amanita muscaria and taoist practice

    Soma wasn't a mushroom.
  15. amanita muscaria and taoist practice

Drugs usually flare up the mingmen fire, shortening lifespan and diminishing health. A clear normal mind is best. From what I recall, amanita muscaria is pretty toxic and requires working with someone who knows what they're doing. Plus, I've heard that the effects aren't so great or interesting from people who have tried it. So you might end up disappointed and weakened. Another thing...if you do some Taoist practices, it will make you super-sensitive to plants. DMT is produced naturally in the brain of people who practice. Depends on what you do.
  16. Favorite Foods

The hottest thing I've ever had was a hot Papaya salad from a Thai/Vietnamese restaurant. And I've had ghost pepper, habanero, etc.
  17. Fake interpreter at Mandela Memorial

http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/12/world/africa/mandela-memorial-fake-intepreter/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 I personally think the issue with the guy is that he's a pathological liar.
  18. Favorite Foods

Yes just mix and stir. Don't heat it...they say that actually makes it toxic, to heat honey in any way. Or that it releases toxins. After the teaspoon wait until you're hungry. After a while, you can increase it to a half tablespoon. And then two teaspoons. And then a tablespoon. If you take it and you don't get hungry for quite a while (lets say an hour and a half), cut down because that means it's too much ghee and is extinguishing the agni. If it's the right amount you should get hungry within half an hour. Think of it like a fire ceremony (homa). You wouldn't throw so much offering on there that it extinguishes the fire. You feed the fire.
  19. We are fish people living under water

Imagine that the entire universe is vibrating light particles, and so is your body. Feel how it could disappear at any time, that's it's comprised of nothing...of the same thing as the air. Imagine the body starts vibrating at a higher rate, and becomes like clouds or like a rainbow (visible yet insubstantial)...vanishing and becoming transparent, becoming the same as the air around you. Now imagine everything around you becomes like this and is similarly insubstantial. The computer is the same way. Your chair beneath you is the same way, so what's keeping you from sinking through it completely? What if you could think of this, and then all of a sudden find that your body has dematerialized and fallen through the chair? Or maybe your hand will pass through the computer when trying to type. Furthermore...get a feeling for who you are at your very core...who you've always been. When you feel that, now everything is vanished completely...there are not even appearances. When you release yourself from that feeling, you're back to reality. Now look at the computer, and see how it's the same as who you've always been. Look at the air. Look at the light in the room. Look at the chair. Look at the floor. At the wall. Outside. It's all the same nature as who you've always been. Insubstantial, vibrating light particles. What if you could take a step with this insubstantial body onto the thin air, which is the exact same thing, and climb into the sky? Why can't you? Now there's a mystery.
  20. Debunking a Creator

Of course I understand that. This should have been clear by now, since we've gone over it multiple times already. But this has absolutely nothing to do with point I made regarding infinite regression making manifestation or reality eternal. And it also has nothing to do with why I made that point, in saying that we can possibly have an eternal being with an intelligence and action which changes. It's not contradictory to have answered "both" when you get that explanation. Reality does not depend on false definitions of words, such as "eternal" meaning "absolutely unchanging". False premise debunked. Again. Nothing personal...but at this point, I fully realize how absolutely fruitless it is to continue a discussion with you, RongzomFan. You've shown very little interest in arriving at truth through logic, and as a result of this behavior, you haven't been able to 'debunk the Creator'. I refer you to the logic textbook I hyperlinked previously...it will help you in your endeavor, if it's possible. From now on, I'm not spending any more of my time responding to this thread. PLEASE DO NOT MISREPRESENT WHAT I'VE SAID AGAIN. Thanks. Perhaps you're right. Explain how? Note...I'm no longer responding to anything in this thread but I'll see what you have to say and consider whether it's true or false.
  21. Debunking a Creator

Yes, and it's also eternal (unchanging) if there wasn't a first cause. How can it be...something eternal and changing!
  22. Debunking a Creator

You can't fathom that there could be an eternally existing being which has an intelligence and action that responds to creation? Reality does not depend on words. To say something is "eternal" does not mean "unchanging" absolutely. For instance, with infinite regression of cause and effect, reality is both eternal and changing.
  23. Debunking a Creator

Agreed. On the point about capacity, you're right...but to say someone doesn't have the capacity in the midst of this discussion is an insult. It's not merely stating the facts, such as the person doesn't have the accumulated merit, etc. RongzomFan doesn't know the merit accumulation, past life connection, intellectual capacity, etc of others. He used the term in a condescending way.
