  1. Five Elements, Emotions, and Music . . .

Can you go through the examples in your original post, and explain how those emotions relate to the Lataif? I'm not seeing how it has more specific answers, and am interested in learning.
  2. Five Elements, Emotions, and Music . . .

    What are the answers?
  3. would this strange grounding technique work ?

So everything you do, isn't working...and everything which works, you're unwilling to practice. For something that requires absolutely no discipline, get acupuncture...maybe it will balance you out a little.
  4. Yes, retracting the sperm is one of the worst things you can do to yourself. It also accomplishes nothing useful. This being said...mind celibacy is a good thing. Too much ejaculation (about every third day and under) is obviously harmful. I think there are benefits for aiming for every 7 days, if you can't accomplish total celibacy, which would be ideal...there's actually a cool testosterone study about that. And I think actual love making in a relationship is totally good, especially if you have a teacher.
  5. mystical poetry thread

I think the meaning of the poem was along the lines of, "you shouldn't develop a holier than thou attitude". I viewed it as being anti-racist...although it was "crude".
  6. Cooking up a storm

DIY natural food coloring. I might attempt to do this for when we make sugar cookies with colored frosting over the holidaze.
  7. Cooking up a storm

It's super rich, so people will likely love the flavors, but not be able to eat much of it in addition to all that other food.
  8. Cooking up a storm

Made this buttermilk pie with blackberry sauce tonight...awesome.

    You will damage yourself.
  12. Salvation - Guaranteed or Not ?

When speaking about salvation in Christian religion, I think it's best to go to the source material and the teachings of the one who is supposedly doing the saving, rather than rely on what any one church or modern teacher says. This verse is very clear... There are Christian groups that believe good people will "go to hell" due to not having "accepted Jesus into their heart", or due to not having a water baptism, or some other requirement like giving generous donations...and that very imperfect people will "go to heaven" due to having "accepted Jesus into their heart". These groups tend to not even read the Bible itself, but simply attend church once a week and believe that they understand the religion. Accepting Jesus into your heart, or having faith, is one thing but... So someone who becomes a Christian, but then later does the wrong thing, lets say murdering people as an extreme example...it's almost as if the faith wasn't there in the first place. Because if you believed in Jesus in your heart, you'd also believe what he was about, not simply his name...and one of the things he taught of course is not to murder. So it's not simply saying outloud, "I accept Jesus as my personal savior" or something...those are just words. You have to study the Bible, and you have to follow through and live it...if you are a Christian. Maybe the "savior" title has to do with Jesus teaching people how to save themselves. Not that I really know...the message of his blood saving all sinners who accept his name could be correct in the afterlife. But overall, for the living, the message here is:
  13. Just saw this version at the book store today. It seems like one of the best to me, because it contains the Sanskrit, the translation of each Sanskrit word, the overall verse translation, and then a commentary on the verse. Just with a quick glance, the overall verse translation itself seems very similar to my other favorite, by Alistair Shearer...they are both quite clear.
  14. Christian Mysticism

  15. Brahmi is good for memory. Working on memorization is a direct way of helping...like how people study for tests with flashcards, or how religious people memorize verses. It works, and it's important on the spiritual or energetic path to cultivate a really good memory and have a good working mind. See an acupuncturist also...since they say that kidney and spleen functions involve the memory. It could be that your spleen/stomach qi was disturbed by the meditation...but it's impossible to know through a forum. Probably best to not get over-energized with meditations to the point that your back arches...calmness is good.

  17. hatred vs. apathy

Love and hate (which are opposites) are like having gas in your car...with the former you go somewhere nice, and with the latter somewhere unpleasant. Sometimes you need to get a GPS or map (a teacher), and they show you how to get somewhere nice. Apathy is like having no gas, so even if you had the best teacher, you wouldn't put their guidance to use. If you wanted a teacher, you wouldn't have the gas to get to one...and you don't even have any gas to go fill up your tank. That's the true nature of being careless. Being careless doesn't have the same effect as being care free. Care free implies that you took care of your cares, and then can finally rest. Careless means that your cares are stacking up as you rest. Also, the effects of apathy are very widespread. It is the cause of all bad things happening around the world...for instance, starvation of people in other countries. Apathy is a lack of consideration and care for anyone or anything outside of oneself. Most people care mostly about themselves, then about their family, then about their friends and acquaintances...in a diminishing fashion. So if you think about it, their apathy is affecting everyone outside of their circle, which could be billions of people. Our collective apathy is literally the cause of the starving kid across the globe. Hate tends to be focus on a few or even one...and it tends to exist, because the hater considers and cares about something. They perceive that the hated person is living in the wrong way...so it shows that they value the right way of living. If only they would listen to the teachers that say, we must apply these measures equally to ourselves, and also look at the self-destructive nature of hatred. Hatred is also not living in the right way. So overall...both apathy and hatred are not good. Hatred is the opposite of love, and apathy is the opposite of consideration and empathy...as Patanjali said, we should focus on the opposites of the negatives. We should love everyone, consider everyone, and empathize and try to help everyone. Apathy is also a complete lack of energy...so people should know that it's not always considered good to live that way, at least in regard to the spiritual path. It might seem peaceful, but it's the kind of peace you get when procrastinating.
  18. Zhan Zhuang: santi vs hunyuan

I can't believe people actually liked this post.
  19. Zhan Zhuang: santi vs hunyuan

The wrist position makes that much of a difference...extended means yang, which is expanding outward energetically.
  20. Yin/Yang Healing Sounds?

That meridian clock actually shows what I explained.
  21. Yin/Yang Healing Sounds?

The yin meridians only ascend in the leg...in the arm the qi flows from proximal to distal, or descends in the anatomical position. If the arms were above the head that'd be a different story. And the flow of channel qi goes from distal to proximal in all meridians, including yang, but it doesn't necessarily ascend.
  22. Yin/Yang Healing Sounds?

In what way are the yin organs ascending, and the yang descending?
  23. It's all good, don't worry...I only misunderstood you.
  24. That feels like a personal attack to me, which is totally unnecessary! Maybe it wasn't intended to be that...but know that when you use sarcasm of any type (even if it's just in a silly way), and repeat someone's name a bunch of times, it seems malicious. Also when you're saying "examining THEIR OWN FAULTS", I take it as if you're insinuating that I (or others who are pro-life) don't already do this...which of course is insulting and also speaking out of ignorance. But if you were just in a fun kind of mood...no problem. To address what you said...God (which I am not in any sense of the word) might truly be unconditionally loving, but people still "reap what they sow". There are negative repercussions to abortion, some of which are as simple as experiencing regret and guilt...some might be unseen, such as the result of having taken someone else's (unconditionally loved and free will given) life. And it's very questionable whether God actually is unconditionally loving, if you read just a little bit of the Bible. "There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community." - Proverbs 6:16-19 Even in the New Testament, Jesus' message is to do the will of God...or in very simplified layman's terms, to become a better person. Part of being better is doing things that don't bring negative repercussions to oneself or others.
