There isn't absolute or relative compassion. Relative bodhicitta (awakened mind) is compassion.

I don't think that the Buddhist view (of relative bodhicitta, karuna, loving kindness, etc) is much different. But I'm open to hearing why you and others think it is...

Right, I agree with you...but Vmarco's point is that relative bodhicitta is worthless (he/she said something to that effect previously in the thread), and that absolute bodhicitta should be considered compassion. The opposite is true for each.

Chill. He/she did call me that. It's not internet bullying to let it be known that someone is getting personally offensive. I took offense. Hopefully by saying so, it's out in the open and members will SELF MODERATE and stop breaking forum rules. It IS internet bullying to call someone anal. It's also disgusting, in comparison to saying something like "anal retentive". And it's not threatening to say you're reporting someone...you are doing it, not threatening to do it. There is a button for it on this forum...and members are encouraged to use it when necessary. Back to the point of the thread...

I personally don't mix energy practices with fasting. I have enough trouble sleeping when on a fast!

Being rich (having enough to get by somewhat comfortably, which can be upper working class in my opinion) doesn't need to come at the expense of taking from the poor. It also doesn't prohibit you from giving to the poor. Hope is the last thing left in the box.

Most jobs are 40 hours a week. Lets round it up and say you work 50 hours, sleep a full 8 hours a night, and take an hour each day getting ready and going to work. There are still 55 hours of free time in that week...or about 7.86 hours each day to do whatever you want. Your work schedule will most likely vary, so some days might be 2 hours of free time...some might be a whole day off. There is enough time to throw a practice in there...with most jobs. I can't fathom doing one that affords you absolutely no free time. What line of work is that exactly?
