  1. Totally agree. It's interesting to me...one meaning of the word Dharma is "law", and pertains to making the right decisions in life, the middle way, which leads to peace. In that aspect, the two are also similar...in Christianity you follow the Law (do to others as you'd like them to do to you), walking through the narrow gate into the kingdom of heaven (which I've read simply means "peace"). There are a lot of differences between the two religions, but some aspects can be good. For instance, Christianity doesn't have tonglen...but it'd be a good practice for Christians. I view them both, at least in this area, to have the same aim.
  2. Reiki

You may want to also look into jin shin jyutsu.
  3. It's sometimes thought that Hitler kind of stole the swastika from Eastern cultures, and then messed with it...turning it around and on its side, etc. But I just stumbled upon this info in wiki which shows that the symbol was already a part of the Northern cultures for a long time... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor#Swastikas http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika_%28Germanic_Iron_Age%29 This is also interesting, highlighting the possible connection of ancient Northern European and Eastern cultures: http://web.cn.edu/kwheeler/IE_Main4_Sanskrit.html
  4. Ah, now that is an answer I can relate to. Carry on, sir.
  5. I'll give us a hint: you are a human being.
  6. That post was quite fucked, vortex. As we all know, religions have good and bad aspects. You focused on the absolute best Buddhist quote, and the absolute worst Christian ones. LOL!
  7. Apech, If your view represented Buddhism as a whole, and if there weren't much more to it than that...it'd be fine. Like if we said, developing true compassion can lead to a more satisfying life...great. But that's not all there is to it. I've seen Tibetans who are held in high esteem teaching ridiculous things, as well. I could get into it, but I think Buddhism has wasted enough of my time. No offense...just personal views.
  8. I have completely opposite views to the self, individual, life, and enjoyment denying Eastern (Buddhist) ones.
  9. Eh, lets focus on better things then. Like tea.
  10. Thanks for the answer, K. "So, you have a religious manual that says you should kill all non-believers, eat human flesh, have sex with 12 year old girls, and make vows to convert the entire world into your version of a paradise where the Dalai Lama is to rule as a supreme time lord military general and God-man." "Yeah, but it's all just symbolic."
  11. The only thing I'm strongly offended about is that you come here and say something, then tell us to go read some damn book. Explain yo self!
  12. Red Bull Stratos

This is happening live right now...tune in!
  13. GrandmasterP, For those of us who aren't going to read the book (unfortunately it's not on kindle and I could give a shit about this kind of Buddhism)...can you sum up what it says in regard to what he does and what his job is for? This is the first time I've heard someone say that the PRC's actions have been correct. Is the Dalai Lama and the kalachakra initiation bad for some reason?
  14. 2 months of eating nothing? That is purely life threatening. AFAIK, fasting is not recommended by those in the know (dieticians). They recommend getting nutrition. As for spiritual literature...keep reading, keep practicing.
  15. direct transmission thru a book/webcast

If you don't read it, this is true.
  16. comedic taoism

    Of course...Monkey/Journey to the West.
  17. Massaging Taixi

Agree to an extent...although massaging directly for a while seems to give me a good noticeable effect, whereas something like walking doesn't. KD3 is in the area of the toe flexors, so flexing and stretching all of the toes might be useful. Unfortunately not many physical exercises deal with that too much.
  18. Massaging Taixi

Nope, KID6 is the confluent point. Although I don't really understand TCM stuff personally, so maybe I'm wrong...
  19. Massaging Taixi

If you notice something weird going on in the area of one of the yin organ yuan-source points, you can simply stimulate that point to benefit the organ.
  20. Jogging

I simply watched that, but there's also a book you could get of the same title.
  21. Goodbye for now

May you have the best insights.
