  1. Get off my lawn Prose makes me yawn I'd rather read about the Golden Dawn Or watch Spawn Don't be a fawn Poetry makes you withdrawn Develop some brawn!
  2. You don't have to read the book all the way through...it's huge. Simply read the part about attention training. Then the key is to do it, not simply read about it. So for example, take a piece of fruit. Spend a good 15 minutes (time yourself) paying attention to everything about it with all of your senses. If you're having thoughts and feelings, simply bring your attention back to the different qualities of that one piece of fruit. Notice everything that you can about it in a very slow way. Do that multiple times throughout the day. If you actually DO it, you will notice your state of mind opening up in a very profound way. Or you can find something else...best of luck with whatever you end up doing or not doing. For your information, you can probably still return the kindle book if it wasn't for you. That's fine. If your mind and heart will expand from the 20 minutes of practice, then your life routine will change into something better naturally. To help the process along, find things that you like to do, and go do them. Don't blame your routine of doing nothing on a practice that you haven't even really done. Leave the computer for a while.
  3. Marijuana Use Tied to Testicular Cancer Risk!

What's strange is that Marinol is totally legal and FDA approved, and has more (synthetic) psychoactive THC than regular weed.
  4. Natural joint and back strengthening

Put your rump further back on the bottom of the seat, and sit more on your sits bones, than on your sacrum. Basically don't slouch. You should be able to sit upright without the backrest, but it's okay to use it. It's also okay to sometimes slouch, but not if you're working all day like that.Lift your shoulders, bring them back and then drop them naturally. That will help get your arms in the right position for working all day.You basically want to look like you have a stick up your ass while sitting...lol. Seriously. It will help you stack the bones and develop the postural muscles correctly. You can relax in the position...don't be tense. Just be upright and centered.
  5. External + Internal Martial Arts

Oh, I thought you were referring to... (Force × Distance) ÷ Time = Power Where "internal" attributes like alignment, stance, etc...can increase the amount of Force (strength) produced by a strike. Or "internal" work for increasing speed (Time). I don't think qi development can substantially increase this type of power in striking...but that's not something you can really prove or disprove.
  6. External + Internal Martial Arts

How do you train internally to improve your striking, Celestial?
  7. External + Internal Martial Arts

My bad, the video wasn't an attempt to compare internal to external...it was simply showing how someone who has some training in boxing can kick ass in reality. I have nothing against internal MA, of course...I am a beginner at taijiquan. Everything has its purpose...my only point was that it's good to know the real basics of real fighting, if that's what you're going to do.
  8. External + Internal Martial Arts

I think Western boxing is the key if you're going to really be fighting. I am hardly trained in the MA and a bad fighter in general when I've been tested, but I would take on a taiji or bagua player before ever considering disrespecting a real boxer. Fists of fury! Basics...how to make a fist so that you won't hurt yourself. That's a big deal. Flashy martial arts training for decades won't compare to someone who simply has two fists that can do damage to you and not to them.
  9. Also, good call. And nice to map things out and understand what the growing/vanishing/pulsating colors could be...your idea of it seems correct.
  10. Ah, good to hear. I will save this practice for later (when I am able to get back into it safely)! Also, my problem may have been that I was practicing anapanasati all day. Damn...now I hear anamatva's doing 30 minute sessions...LOL. What was I thinking?
  11. Marijuana Use Tied to Testicular Cancer Risk!

The actual study Public relations article from Keck med school The study also looked at cocaine, and found that it decreases the risk of these types of testicular cancer. Funny. A good reason for a medical school to study this is that medical marijuana is a big issue. Knowing the true effects of it, both good and bad, is good for doctors. These types of studies are never really meant for public dissemination (I mean, try to decipher the actual published study's abstract...come on), or political debate about pot legalization. Who knows why it's still illegal. The government could make a lot of money off of legalizing and taxing it. It's not like all of the pot smokers would suddenly be healed of all their conditions...I bet everyone would still go to the doctor and require help the same amount. ...Something really revolutionary is spiritual energetic practice.
  12. Everyone post some favorite quotes!

"If I ever become a Saint – I will surely be one of 'darkness'. I will continually be absent from Heaven – to (light) the light of those in darkness on earth." - Mother Teresa
  13. Taking a Trip to California

I haven't been there myself, but I think it'd be cool to check out California Tendai. They will let you stay there for a week completely for free, and check out what it's like...of course only if you're possibly interested in Tendai.
  14. Brahm does say that the first three steps are incredibly important, as a foundation. Perhaps I moved forward too quickly, without the necessary silence.
  15. The book is great....although at least personally, it's been frustrating. I got to the nimitta as well (which I think is sky eye in Taoism)...but at that point, kundalini began to arise really haphazardly for me. You know, like flash of golden white light, nothing else can be paid attention to for a brief time, intense awareness. I hope that isn't jhana...not peaceful at all! I had to stop anapanasati altogether, because it was simply ravaging my body.
  16. Definitely not. Seems you don't know me as well as you assume.
  17. Can I change my dispy name?

Shit...I should have put my real paypal address...lol.
  18. Can I change my dispy name?

If you want to give notice ahead of time you have to fill out form 1376OP. There is a filing fee of $300, which can be sent to [email protected]
  19. Magical Knowledge

I like her so far. Thanks Tao bros! Edit: read through her first book. It's pretty good, in fact I would say it's amazing...although she has quite a strong stance against the notion of negativity/evil/bad. She tends to think that all things have their role, and we shouldn't interfere or assume that harmful things are necessarily evil. This can either be viewed as wise, or quite foolish...I tend to think the latter (we are humans and should do whatever it takes to maintain the protection of humanity against destructive forces). But then again, I'm not a magickal seer with decades of experience...so maybe I shouldn't have an opinion... I just think...if you knew that a magickal being was going to cause the death of a loved one, you would do something about it...not just sit back and watch. What if a magickal practitioner could have prevented the Japanese destruction of early 2011 for instance? For one to know about it and do nothing would be quite horrible, at least in my eyes. To sit back and say "these beings aren't evil" while thousands are killed (or "culled")? Fuck that being...they can take a day off their "job". Anyway, she has good opinions all throughout the book. I may end up practicing her vision magick, if some other things don't end up working out.
  20. At least personally, I believe that love is what tells you not to waste your money...and love is not what charges you 4 grand. Good idea.
  21. Good. "All roads lead to Rome"...you don't miss out on kundalini awakening and harnessing your sexual energy, when you take another path (like the practices in the book). Those things are always cultivated at the same time.
  22. What is Tai Ji Chuan(太極拳) ...?

Thanks Steve, good explanation to differentiate between long and short force. I see what you mean. Based on an explanation I read in a book called Nei Jia, I was just going off the most literal translation of the word, and thought it meant issuing (from yourself into someone or something else) power (speed + strength), so even a boxer's punch could have been considered fajin. Now I know differently.
  23. What is Tai Ji Chuan(太極拳) ...?

Maybe you guys could clarify what fa jin is...
