Tinnitus - what could be the cause in my case?
Aetherous replied to Owledge's topic in General Discussion
It's really only something to fix if it bothers you in your life. Real tinnitus isn't just a ringing in the ears, it is debilitating. On the positive side of things, it's called anahata nada in the Indian traditions...and focusing on the sound is a spiritual practice...part of nada yoga. Some say to only listen to the sound in the right ear, I was told because that's where extra positive energy comes in so none of our personal energy is wasted through the practice...but listening to it in the left ear has its purposes too...it also can centralize and be heard from the center back of the head and other areas... Listening to it increases it. I've noticed that it opens up the whole back of the neck and shoulder area, and maybe with further practice it would open up the entire body, and you could listen to it kind of through the entire body. Maybe. It is part of the Kunlun system, if you're still practicing that. To get energy out of the head, try lying down and putting your palms on the front of your pelvis (ASIS area) and just relax for a good ten minutes or so...do it as you go to bed. Or also try with the palms crossed over the lower dantien right outside of left. These draw energy down and out of the head. Practicing only increases your energy, which will increase the sound, IMO. IMO it's not good to have magnetic sensations in the head all day...you should ideally have no sensations at all up there...as if you're the headless horseman! -
It's okay...I don't think you're an asshole, just sharing thoughts on the issue. About poor behavior causing suffering...that is true to an extent. But maybe it's more true that people's suffering is what causes their improper behavior...maybe they have tried to do right and found that they are imperfect. Maybe if these people were given more mercy and 'relief' (grace, blessings of all types, etc), they wouldn't have a need to act in such destructive ways. Maybe they would lighten up...find fulfillment within their own nature, as well as in acting in effective ways towards others. Suffering perpetuates suffering...relief perpetuates relief. It's hard to reconcile sometimes...REALLY looking at the world, at times it seems like a complete joke. I mean, Jersey Shore???? This is the pinnacle of creation?!? Those types of people are hardly even human beings, to give my honest opinion. ...now the asshole in me is showing itself. Sometimes being spiritual gives us too lofty a perspective...too high of a seat of judgment...and we end up being more harmful than normal people who are just trying to get by and enjoy their life. Normal people who watch Jersey Shore and find nothing wrong with the likes of Snookie.

Tinkering with karma and going against the supposed "will of the divine" (how could the real divine ever be so cruel?), out of compassion for others, generates massive amounts of good karma and has the potential to change the course of things completely. I think it already has, but of course, we will see. Actually in one of Drunvalo's books, he talks about a tribe who foresaw the end of the world coming (if I remember correctly) before the year 2000, which was due to the evil behavior of the rest of the world's population. I think the tribe calls themselves big brother and the rest of the world little brother. All of a sudden in their visions, this tribe saw many people's bodies lighting up all around the world (the little brothers), and to their surprise they found that the earth kept existing due to these individuals changing. What's in your heart when you think of half of the world's population being eradicated (as an example of what could happen during a shift)? Nothing...inaction...inconsideration...acceptance of catastrophe? This type of heart is the reason why such events would occur, IMO. This is the type of heart that needs the cleansing before entering the gates. Or do you want to stop it and make people fulfilled and safe? To have us solve our own problems, similar to a child taking its own first steps, or learning to ride a bike without training wheels? To say that although these people are imperfect, they are worth protecting and helping? Despite what they've done, they are innocent...they did the best they could! Are you willing to do whatever it takes to help them? This type of heart is what brings an end to the catastrophe. This type of heart is what purifies the earth itself...misfortune doesn't do that. Judgment of other people's karma (which is shared with us since all is connected) is not purifying. "For I desire mercy, not sacrifice" Eh just my views.

Absolute newage...IMO.

To take care of the physical alignment, if that's a contributing factor, I would find a physical therapist who is really good at muscle energy technique (MET). For most people, probably 80% of us, the pelvis is out of alignment and causes minor issues throughout the whole spine and body. MET can fix cervical spine issues, thoracic spine, lumbar, sacrum, and pelvis...and it can also balance the musculature throughout the whole body so posture will be improved through releasing the hypertonic (tense) muscles that are holding you out of balance. It helps to do practices that refine your qi and help your mind to let go, rather than only doing ones that build strong qi and strengthen the mind's focus (I have no idea all of what you practice)...then the energy becomes subtle and doesn't need to forcefully break the blockages...it will flow straight through them if subtle enough. So relaxing open into an expanded state is good. Craniosacral therapy is excellent for letting go and coming into balance. I once had a treament done, and went to practice zhan zhuang afterward....I stood absolutely effortlessly for a good half hour, as if I was floating on energy, as a result of the relaxation from CST. Even doing 'just sitting' with the palms on knees and eyes looking downward with peripheral vision...that can help relax the mind enough to cause the body to let go and get things flowing. When feeling the 3 nadis, what you're currently doing isn't helping the problem. You should feel them as straight and perfect, if you're seeing them as colored, very bright and vibrant. Do not pay attention to whatever blockages seem to be there...that only creates them more. If you imagine it's perfect, it becomes so. Qi follows intent. On that note, just pretend your body is perfectly healthy and there are no blockages whatsoever. Also, walking, stretching with a side bend and reaching over your head to stretch one side of the body, doing hula hoop movements at the chakra areas especially the area 4 fingerwidths below the navel...these are physical means to help clear and balance the two side channels. Another way is the 9 breaths of purification taught in Tenzin Wangyal's book, which I mentioned to you before. Hope that helps some. Edit: oh also, having someone slap the area is a basic way of clearing the blockages. Similar effect to shaking, as well as gua sha. Then you do breathing to circulate and harmonize the energy.

A mudra! It's called sunya mudra, but there are other names for it as well. Bend your middle fingers down to your palm/base of thumb, then put your thumbs over them. You can hold it for 45 minutes at a time, while watching tv or whatever...even in meditation if you like. This website seems to have some good specific info on the mudra... http://jaisivananda.blogspot.in/2012/01/mudra-cure-for-tinnitus.html Try not to pay attention to the inner sounds, since that can increase them as well as your sensitivity to them. To help with that, don't sit in silence...have music playing in the background if you are trying to meditate, so that you won't be strengthening the ringing. Ideally you'd be working with a teacher who knows the intricacies of the body and self healing. This is just info from someone who has read a few books...I haven't tried to cure my own ear ringing with this mudra...so if you try it, let us know how it goes over time.

What I think: Also, if people choose to keep derailing after a moderator warning them, and telling them to take it elsewhere...they should of course be suspended. On another note...even though I realize it's a little unfair (since everyone is entitled to their personal views about the path), I would personally tell "tulku" that he isn't allowed to post so many threads unless they are significantly different from what he's posted already, and actually useful, unlike what he's posted already. If he continued, I would suspend or ban him (this is hypothetical, if I had the ability). In my view, he is spamming the forum and degrading the overall discussion with what appears to be adolescent misunderstandings of spirituality. I think it is potentially harmful to people who are looking for real advice about the path. Totally just my opinion there.
-
I see that you are attempting to make it that way. <-- winning!
-
Just keep in mind, it's almost completely inauthentic and his own invention. Not recovered.
-
Consider...when a thread is having a heated discussion that's going way off topic, having to make a new thread will break it up a little, and those involved will not have the same momentum...then the moderators don't have to come in and babysit everyone so often, by saying "stop bickering, you're supposed to be spiritual" which is meaningless to anyone that's actually involved in the argument. And this forum is unlike the other useless forums on the internet, so thread derailment should not be allowed or encouraged. My view. And I'm right!
-
Well, looking at this thread, with the exception of two posts by myself and anamatva, the discussion ended literally on page 1. And the pointlessness continued on to page 9, and here we are at 10. That is crazy to me. For people who are interested in Francois Lepine (what this thread is supposed to be about), they have to wade through ALL of that to try and find relevant info. It's absolutely disrespectful and useless on behalf of the people that were involved here. What happened is a lot different from an acceptable natural flow of discussion, which we can all recognize and differentiate from this (I assume). From my point of view, these people should have been told to make a new thread to continue whatever their little back and forth was about. So it's not about increasing moderation and making sure all threads stay exactly on topic. I just wonder why there isn't effective moderation.
-
Well, this is at least the second one lately. The other being the red phoenix thread. How many more examples are needed til the mod team does something about the derailment issue? And please don't try to say it's not an issue in this thread...that will just completely blow my mind to smithereens.
-
I agree completely. This thread has been absolutely derailed (it was originally about Francois Lepine, pages ago), and it wasn't merely the natural flow of discussion sort of veering off topic. In other areas of the forum, you have people making multiple threads on exactly the same topic (political ones, or ALL of the tulku-threads). Spring cleaning anyone???

I have no idea about the seal of Saturn connection...but very interesting how it's exactly the same magical square. I can't discriminate between the sources/traditions either!
-
In what other traditions is this magic square found? In pretty much all cultures, the numbers 3 and 9 are significant spiritually (for whatever reason). Each row of 3 adds up to 15, each column of 3 does, and each diagonal of 3 does as well...so for that reason the numbers are significant and can't really change places, at least for this magic square. When the flow is drawn out it kind of resembles the seal of Saturn, and apparently it's the magic square for Saturn. There are of course other magic squares with patterns different from this one.

Flowing Hands, Please make your own thread to discuss yourself.

"Would a compassionate person feel the need to own a vicious dog?" Yes, there are good reasons which people may not immediately consider...for instance, if the dog was abandoned and needed an owner that could care for it.

They're out of their element.

Jerry Alan Johnson's hand seals manual has a practice of visualizing certain colors as the left hand goes through the 9 palaces pathway. These colors are unique to that practice...not the same as in feng shui for instance. I don't know if it describes the complete method...probably not! Learned some about the 9 palaces in Kunlun...the details may be specific to that system. Of course, it's also part of the Primordial Alchemist logo.

It's hilarious that the people who think they're fighting the just cause are the ones who end up potentially doing the most harm...or at least being the most wrong. I'm addressing both "sides" with that. Something to consider regarding "right" and "wrong" is: in 2008, 1 in 4 teen girls in America had an STD (according to the CDC). Do you really think that's a result of doing the right thing? Or in other words, the effective thing? I don't.

properly circulating built up sexual energy?
Aetherous replied to resonant111's topic in General Discussion
I am no expert, but when I wait 7 days and then allow myself to ejaculate I feel much better overall, even the day after. It's like rollover minutes. There was a study posted on this forum about how testosterone levels peak at something like 145% of baseline on the 7th day after ejaculation...I prefer to base my practice off of science as well as my subjective experience, and 7 days is in alignment with both for me. So maybe try that. It is a managable time period...and if you want or require longer time, like a month, go for that. Or just nothing...some people are celibate. I also subjectively feel that sexual energy (like what you feel with lust or during masturbation) isn't pure, and thus not good for cultivation. Best to keep the mind clean, and not touch the dingaling. This is only a discussion of solo cultivation...dual cultivation is something else entirely and these ideas don't apply to that. About what to practice to transmute...find a school that you like, and do that. Otherwise, breathing evenly and naturally to calm the mind is a main method. -
What in God's holy name are you guys blathering about?

Really good question. I don't know...maybe it's like the congealed light of awareness combined with the pattern of energetic structure that is you. Maybe it is the physical body realized as pure light or transmuted into that. Maybe it is just your own spirit.
