There are these philosophical questions, where you must make a tough decision. I remember one was something along the lines of: Killing people is bad...but lets say there's a man who is killing thousands of people, and you have the opportunity to stop him. The only way is by killing him yourself...and it's easy, safe and guaranteed to work. So what do you do? Kill one bad life to save a thousand good lives, or adopt non-violence and allow a thousand good people to be killed so that one bad life may continue? I doubt the Buddha ever spoke of this exactly...but why can't a Buddhist contemplate this type of thing for themselves? What if the Buddhist sees that their own personal actions are the same as the actions of all other people...then if they adopt non-violence in the scenario, they are actually killing thousands of people by proxy, through their decision. The blood is truly still on their hands. I think I remember hearing a Buddhist teaching about making the better decision at all times. So it would make sense for the Dalai Lama to say that it'd be good if a terrorist were caught. It's not purely good, but it'd be better than the alternative. Life requires complex decisions sometimes, and you just have to try your best. War can be incredibly complex, too. For instance, not everyone that participates in an unjust war committed unjust acts. Maybe not even 99.9% of the people do. Judging others from across time (if it happened in the past) and across much space (half a world away most often) can lead to incredibly inaccurate conclusions regarding the people involved. We need to be there to truly know. It can be easy to say religious people are hypocrites, for many reasons. The most obvious is that, as human beings, anything we try to do ends up failing, since our minds like to maintain balance. The more rigid you are, the more you are destined to fail. Rules are meant to be broken. Etc. Just look at New Year's Resolutions. So hypocrisy is a very common thing...a human thing. War also seems to be a very human thing, since it's taken place all throughout our known history. Something to accept, and keep in mind for our own benefit...not to be ignorant of. My personal belief regarding spirituality is that accusing other people of things, wanting to punish them for their misdeeds, to oppose them since we're on the "good side" and they apparently are not...these things destroy our spirituality quicker than anything. Then it becomes just a facade. If we're acting in such ways, then how can we even begin to speak of other people's spirituality, since our own is already gone? Saying any religious person is a hypocrite is simply coming "straight from the horse's mouth". It's better to take it easy, trust that other people are trying their best and that we don't know the full story, forgive, let go, help people in need even if they've made mistakes, etc...these things are true spirituality. True religion. So, hopefully it makes sense why we're instructed to not judge other people. Buncha random thoughts...hope you enjoy.

It was interesting learning some of what appears to be authentic shamanic methods...much more powerful than any qigong out there.

You think that sending 100 SOF there in a temporary advisory role is really about the US getting African oil and "men with guns" destroying the continent? I don't live in the same world as you. Edit: Also, my personal opinion regarding objections to the-Invisible-Children-cause remains the same as it was in my previous posts. I try not to say anything directly because I consider myself to be a friend of Desert Eagle, and I respect his opinions and choices even if I disagree.

Just be relaxed, put the mind roughly on the next point when the audio says to. IMO, that is all. You don't have to wait for a feeling of energy or push it or shape it or anything. Since qi follows the mind, pushing it doesn't make much sense. The mind must go first then the qi will follow, and be pulled...this is the natural and healthy way. The following way of thinking might help: imagine for a second, that water (qi) can be attracted by a certain type of magnet (attention). Consider the pathways of the orbit...if you can feel energy move from one gate to another, then that area may be fairly clear of blockages. It's like a river through which the water is pulled towards the magnet. Another path from gate to gate may not have any energy sensations...so maybe there are blockages like a beaver dam or big piles of rocks, logs, whatever in the way of the river. But the water will still be attracted to the magnet, so it will flow around those things and gradually wear them down. If you stay at one gate too long, it will create a flood in one part and a drought in another, and cause the whole river system to become unbalanced. This may cause the beaver dams and fallen trees and whatever else to be forcefully pushed and gathered in one spot, creating a greater blockage than there was before. The better way is to keep it even...each flood gate then can remain open at the right time...then as the water flows smoothly through the whole river-system, it increases momentum and will more easily and safely break apart any blockages in its path. All of this is accomplished just by going from point to point with the mind. At least this is my idea of it.

The focus in the Small Universe audio is so quick that it's not really dangerous. In my opinion, it's not actually "focusing" with intensity so much as it is guiding the energy from point to point gently (qi follows your mind and will naturally end up flowing along the two channels that way). This type of 'focusing on the gates' is a beginning way of causing the orbit to flow smoothly and ensuring everything is balanced. Keep watch of your signs and symptoms...if you notice anything that seems bad, you can always take a break from that practice. It's better to let go. Focusing intensely creates disturbances in the qi. What the mind does is more important than what the qi wants to do...qi is always doing what your system requires for harmony, so it should be trusted. Sometimes it may be the exact opposite of what the mind is trying to do...that's ok. Just move the awareness of sensation, or the kinesthetic sense, from point to point without any extra effort...be totally serene. Also, the kinesthetic sense may be screwed up, for instance as you said sometimes it seems to jump out of the body or do other weird things...that's okay, having attention in the general area does the same thing that you want as intensely focusing does...it attracts the qi to that area. And most important is relaxing the mind, which is continually shaping the qi's result as it beckons it. I think that will help, if it makes sense.

Chinese Taoist Medicine & Stillness-Movement Medical Qigong
Aetherous replied to Ya Mu's topic in Group Studies
That is amazing. I wish this Medical Qigong were easier to learn...where are you located Kempomaster? Edit: Easier as in, more teachers in more diverse cities doing more seminars of this. It tends to not work out financially, or else with my college schedule and traveling, each time a seminar with Michael rolls around. While it's true that it's up to the student to 'step up', it's also unfortunate that it must be so challenging sometimes for people to learn something so helpful for others. -
Keep in mind, it's only the opinion of some Gnostics that the Christian God is actually the devil. Christians and Jews don't accept that belief, or much of Gnosticism for the most part. For anyone who actually reads the Bible, it's pretty easy to see that the God described within is not at all evil. IMO, those Gnostics are confused. About the Crusades, etc...it should be kept in mind that those people were mostly uneducated. Killing was part of the culture. It was encouraged by the priests for their own benefit...from what I understand these priests claimed to forgive sins if the people went out and killed for them in the name of the religion. It clearly says in that 'holy book' not to murder. To treat all people as you would treat yourself...this is a COMMANDMENT, not just an idea. So if Christianity says "don't murder" but a so called Christian murders a whole bunch of people, or displays racism, etc...then is that person actually a Christian? I don't think so. They're just using the name inappropriately.

Totally, I was reeeeaalllllly big into Ramana previously. Still read his 'forty verses on reality' from time to time...to try and understand. Once again, you are quite extreme in your viewpoints, Vmarco.

Saint is one of the things that this thread was asking for.

I consider him to definitely be a great teacher and healer. I don't know him well enough to say that he's like a saint...and I probably don't have the capability to judge that in someone else.
