Which translation of the VijnanaBhairava do you recommend?
Aetherous replied to konchog uma's topic in General Discussion
You can always compare with Odier's for free: http://danielodier.com/ENGLISH/Texts/vijnana_e.html Some of it, I really love. Let us know how the other versions are! -
Interesting, why is that? It can be draining. Unless it's something like you and a good friend cracking jokes, or having a deep and interesting conversation...then it can be energizing, despite a lot of words being spoken.

I like this: The philosophy of Liberty -
Not trying to belittle, but this is a good reminder. Actually, noticing that you get static shocks a few times a day, during this time of year...that is very normal. Touch something that will ground your energy...I remember taking a computer class, and we had to wear grounding wrist bands, which attached to the metal frame of the desktop computers. The trick is to not touch the parts which are sensitive to static electricity. For a laptop, they should all be encased within. If you are really concerned about this, check out "earthing" products.

Sounds very enjoyable, actually. -

Thanks for sharing your magazine! I like that one! Here is one I just made (forgive me for being dirty, it's all I could think of)... "I man up - punami."

Cleary, by far, IMO.

I am interested in the use of art as a form of talismanic magick on a widespread and lasting scale...as well as the use of music in the subtle portrayal of belief systems and its effect on individuals. And also the use of art as a form of healing, which is sort of different from the above.

I disagree. That is an excellent methodology for being grounded and healthy...but it has nothing to do with Taoist alchemy, which is all about the puff (yet it is not about being ungrounded or unhealthy). Taoist alchemy is not just out of body experiences, but sublimating the body itself. Unifying body mind and spirit into one...then what happens if the body itself is indifferentiable from spirit? Then "the body" is "puff", yeah? That's only one part of the path, which after some time automatically causes the "golden sparks" to fly upward, from behind the navel to the head. There's a lot more to learn than just what we think we know...because we're still relatively mortal.

Looks great. Manlienez is something modern men seem to be lacking (myself included), especially the spiritual types (myself included again). It's good to cultivate balance and what is essential to our nature, as men.

observations of elderly during serious illness
Aetherous replied to ghera's topic in General Discussion
I would suggest not attaching meaning to the fluctuations of the mind (your ill relative's, as well as your own). Each moment is new, and not necessarily tied down by the happenings of the previous one. For instance, if a dead person was seen by your relative, just forget about it...move on with your life and just shrug your shoulders. What is there to know about that? Nothing useful or conclusive. It's like heroin for the mind (pleasurable yet incredibly destructive). Instead, notice what's enjoyable right now...maybe sip some tea, listen to music you like, notice the beauty of the sky, remember how awesome it is to be alive, etc. There is almost always something enjoyable to focus on, even in the midst of unpleasant situations. If you attach to a certain story or explanation about what has been happening with your ill relative, it will affect your life...and I can't imagine any stories being positive or beneficial, in this case. The mind will probably babble on, and try to come up with explanations, even if you truly believe that it's not useful and attempt to shut it up. Oh well, that's what the mind does...it's not a bad thing. But it's good to know that it's not real. -
Pine Needles and Hermit Survival tips!

On my hikes, sometimes I sample the different trees. Some needles are sweet, whereas others are bitter and nasty. I think the high vitamin C idea is true, because I tend to get the shits afterward...and for that reason wouldn't personally rely on it as a food source. Acorns on the other hand... -
I like this part of it! Yummmmm. Like going to the best spa on earth...in my imagination. I've heard of people who will massage down the front channel in cases like yours. I personally start with the chin and work downwards to the area above the pubic symphysis.

What Are The Fundamental Taoist Beliefs?
Aetherous replied to Stigweard's topic in Daoist Discussion
I love how this question is worded. -
I say do cayenne, or raw garlic...since those have healing effects. Yes, this is a real spiritual practice.

Well, you could just ask them if it's okay for you to practice healing on them. Buy them a drink as payment for their time. What healing skillz do you have by the way?
