  1. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

Slightly offensive...but I couldn't help cracking up the first few times watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiuIQQpF_0A
  2. Meditation sitting postures

Something I like about sitting in a chair is that it doesn't hyperplantarflex the feet, compared to all other postures. I find it to be the most comfortable and healthy position all around.
  3. Hm, very good point ralis!
  4. Meditation 'stuff'

Thinking that you're seeing the room you're in, and bumping into something or falling, when actually the subtle light you're seeing is showing something else.
  5. Meditation sitting postures

Bowowtao, Yup. Another thing...I've heard some Tibetan yogis describe the purpose of sealing the perineum (for instance with siddhasana) or raising the perineum (as in Taoist breathing) as a means of releasing the knots that bind the central channel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAUDCGpsgWo Starting at 7:24 Edit: Actually, I understand the magpie bridges as the two connecting points between the front and back vessels. The tongue touching the roof of the mouth connects the two as the "upper", and activating and connecting the area between CV1 and GV1 does the same as the "lower".
  6. Meditation sitting postures

Interesting. What about sealing the "lower magpie bridge", for instance during breathing? That seems to create a lot more upward sublimation, yet the perineum is contracting. What are the reigns between throat and crown? Constriction below does seem to effect the upper body through inner tension.
  7. Wiliam Bodri: anyone know him?

That book does look pretty cool. I've read his other stuff quite a bit, and he speaks authoritatively, but I get the impression that (at least for me and my path personally) I should take it all with a huuuuuuuge grain of salt.
  8. Enishi, What is loopy? Funny...that's exactly how the media has been instructed to portray him. (A good question to ask, once you prove this has happened by observation, is "instructed by whom?") I think his ideas aren't loopy at all...but maybe I haven't heard everything he has said... You would vote for someone else that's running? In my view, every single other candidate is simply a puppet (yes I said it) for the same government that's been nullifying our constitution in plain sight for many administrations. I am not talking conspiracy theory, but simply what's in plain sight. I don't like to see coincidences in politics. For instance, to address Encephalon's video, the coincidence of an ambassador to China running for president at this time in history. Or the coincidence a few years ago of both George Bush and John Kerry being members of Yale's skull and bones very select fraternity. Then the lost votes in Florida with Gore. Then, George Bush being the son of a previous president. Then, Obama having the middle name Hussein in the midst of a war on terrorism...and the whole birth certificate/possibly having been raised as a Muslim thing (no offense to them in saying this, it's just thoroughly weird and too much of a "coincidence"). It should be obvious when you see these types of things in the political arena, strange shit is happening behind the scenes. Don't believe me? Oh well. So it's nice to see someone say...Hey Americans! Look at what your country is supposed to be about. Look at the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. And look at the current way its being run. And to keep saying that, in spite of attempted media blackout and discrediting. So, oh well, this veteran is voting Ron Paul.
  9. Healing the kidneys.

Kid3 acupuncture point...something to look into. Nourishes kidney yin and clears deficiency heat, tonifies kidney yang, anchors the qi and benefits the lung, strengthens the lumbar spine
  10. The gateways to Dao

Wow, you realize that's almost 3 hours every single day? Since you're considering doing so much...why do you practice circle walking, zerostao?
  11. There is only one person worth voting for, IMO.
  12. The gateways to Dao

I haven't learned it, or the snake bagua, but apparently he does teach circle walking. I rarely have the opportunity to learn from him due to distance and finances.
  13. Immortals (Xian Shi)

That would be better, of course.
  14. Immortals (Xian Shi)

Dude, silence thyself! I am reporting you for trolling. All you do is go into every topic, claiming everything is wrong, without sharing about what's actually right. I advise you to change your mode of operation here at this forum. You are not an authority on immortality...and neither is the guy speaking in the video. He admits that. It's a perspective to consider...a possibility. No one can claim to know the mysteries of the Tao without having experienced them first hand...so if you haven't floated to heaven on a cloud, then a bit of open-mindedness and a LOT of silence would do you good.
  15. Dwai, Very nice. Oh I totally agree. I don't even view the way most yoga classes go to be healthy. Super hot rooms, raising your blood pressure while doing challenging inversions, overstretching the spine. These types of things can actually damage the mind and body, more than heal! Some classes are more about disembodiment...people walk out dizzy and disoriented...abused. But then again, some classes are quite healing.

  17. This leads me to believe that yoga asanas were more of an offshoot of Hinduism, rather than a real aspect of the religion/way of life itself. Hatha yoga, itself...isn't that an offshoot of Hinduism? Not all Hindus practice hatha yoga, right? As far as what's contained in Patanjali's sutras, there isn't much information on physical postures. Basically just sit comfortably...but maybe there are other translations which contain more information. So trying to add Hinduism into a bikram yoga class (or whatever), for a Western fitness crowd, doesn't really make much sense. The branch has fallen far from the tree, and has become its own phenomenon. Forgive me guys, when I communicate in the Vedanta section, I feel pretty clueless compared to you all!
  18. Have you even seen one qigong teacher who is mentioned here? No, of course not. You have no experience whatsoever with a single one of them. You obviously come into this with a predetermined attitude and belief...so you only find what you're looking for: failure. Instead of assuming that you're right and everyone else is wrong, try a different approach. Assume you are wrong and that everyone else is right. You will learn a lot more that way!
  19. Consensus on the details of zhan zhuang posture

    Now that's a good teacher!
  20. Heart Rate during Qigong

I've heard that in general, the heart rate plus your age should add up to 170 at most. So if you're 30 years old, your heart rate can reach 140 in order to be safe and not get side effects.
  21. Shen

You'd be surprised, because this spirit actually does 'float in the thin air'. Through Taoist practices, you can come to sense this clearly...but everyone can already sense it whether they realize or not. Other cultures call it the "evil eye" and have folk remedies for it. About the proof of the soul, if you compare people's eyes you can see lost or repressed souls, as well as healthy souls. Or maybe we don't want to call it a soul, but there is an obvious difference sometimes...so what is that! vs.
  22. The gateways to Dao

Hehe...well I am truly interested. Have been researching the practice online, trying it myself...
