Well, I wasn't saying it in a degrading way to your beliefs. I was really interested to learn about how you saw a connection. So if you remember the book some day, please share it here.

What a shameful day for this forum, that we actually did this to someone.

Just admit it NeiChuan, you love Oprah.

What makes it seem related to Buddhism at all? Seems just like shamanism to me.

Arrested Development was my favorite show of all time, but didn't motivate me. Avatar the last airbender motivated me to master the elements and have glowing eyes when I got pissed.

If people are taking advantage of you, leave them completely. Even if they're your family. You said 98% of people treat you like shit...well leave ALL of them, and stick with the 2% that treat you like a normal person. It's your life, so you must decide. I don't know what's happening for you, or how to help it, but I wish you tons of luck and blessings. -
Thanks man. Well...that was confusing. I'm just not cut out for philosophy anymore.

My favorite place to go there is Lone Star Cafe, which overlooks the riverwalk. Great margaritas and chili burgers. I miss it!

You're in San Antonio now? That's one of the best cities!

Even if he shares your view, that will be interesting to read.

I said: Vajrahridaya said: No, it's clearly not.

Believing in an eternal source, versus believing that there isn't one.

I was just reading The Dark Red Amulet today, and at the beginning of Chapter 7 it says the following: The essence element (thigle) is the source of great bliss, which is beyond the ordinary sensations of bliss. The ultimate state of the essence element is the great bliss-emptiness of primordial wisdom. It is not subject to change, so we cannot say it is permanent or impermanent. This is why it is called "the great permanence". The siddha king Indrabhuti said, "Great bliss is not impermanent," which implies that it is permanent. But this permanence goes beyond relative permanence and impermanence. The higher teachings use the Sanskrit prefix maha or the Tibetan suffix chenpo, which means "great," to symbolize what is beyond duality. So not all Buddhists believe the same thing about this, it seems. And what it really comes down to is that it's a difference in belief...because experientially, is there really a difference between the two opinions?

Mal, that's a question which I'm sure many are truly wondering. Another question: What are the end results of your neigung?

Thanks again, Ed. It was enjoyable to learn about the nuns, as well as watch the excited facial expressions of the Rinpoche when he spoke.

Good work. Try cold showers, or dunking in cold rivers. Be cautious with having hot showers, wearing unnatural fabric, etc. You can tell, because these things will further overheat you. Having more vegetables can be cooling...look into ayurveda for pitta remedies. If you check out Path of Fire and Light Vol 1 by Swami Rama, it discusses how the navel energy (fire) eventually naturally goes down to the tailbone to awaken kundalini...as seems to be happening for you. I was taught not to allow attention to go to the tailbone, because the awakening of energy can be too strong. Keep it in the navel, if you choose to continue with your meditation. The skin on your fingers is probably just due to new skin being created faster than usual. A common kundalini thing, and one which I experienced a couple of times. Consider that it's important to have a balanced path. In Taoism they balance fire and water, not just solely focus on one method (even though many say just stick with the navel...of course they're wrong and practicing incomplete paths). Taoists meditate on the middle dantien to circulate the heat (in fact they use all 3 dantiens, each with its own balancing effect on the others). So just some things to think about.

Thanks for sharing the link! I look forward to watching this today.

You weren't surrendered. If you truly surrender, in that moment you attain enlightenment. Surrendering is not a choice...a person can't say "Oh yeah, I'm going to surrender now." You have to go through shit (which you are) and continually attempt to let go of everything, until the moment comes when you actually do. Plus, it's a continual thing, not something where you go and get the t-shirt: "I survived surrendering!" Good for you! But you just fell from glory... Just look at your actions and you'll see how surrendered you are. I agree with fiveelementtao's suggestion of what you should do.

Well, people are often shot (a bullet is larger and travels faster than a needle ever could), and survive. Why? Because it misses all of the critical areas. So is it possible that a person could die from a sewing needle going through them? Well yes, it's possible, if it hit the right area. I'm not going to go into that, because we shouldn't be sharing ways to kill people here.

I was once in a yoga class, and the cute yoga girl next to me was apparently a bit too relaxed and let out a huge wet fart. It was quite manly sounding. Thankfully the fan was blowing in the opposite direction. But yeah I love them too, sometimes!
