  1. Ling-pao pi-fa

I really wish someone would translate this into English. I've heard good things.
  2. Full lotus

Nah, I just like to do things the lazy way.
  3. Dispelling the Fog

Nice. Mom just wants us to grow. Thanks, apepch7.
  4. What is the GOAL of your cultivation?

Really one of my main goals is to develop a profound ability to see what's wrong with a person, and be able to heal it in a profound way. To be able to help. This goal has become especially strong since I've started clinical rotations in the ER.
  5. Full lotus

Maybe just do it "astrally" as you physically sit or stand in comfort.
  6. Dispelling the Fog

Well, I might be wrong about that in some cases...but it's for the most part true.
  7. Dispelling the Fog

Well, during my practices which develop those aspects, the relationship with my mother improved on a spiritual level. This is a dramatic way to put it, and it's not how it went down exactly, but it's similar to a demonic/tormenting being turning into an angelic/helpful one. She started to help me with my spiritual path in my dreams. In waking life, I was more agitated, but she was more willing to accept me for who I am and be there for me (when it wasn't exactly deserved). Also, Baolin Wu says that the index finger is related most to your mother. This finger corresponds to the wind element in vedic traditions (which I consider an accurate framework). I've noticed that the TCM wood element is the same as the wind element. Some say the metal element is related to wind (because the lungs are involved in breathing), but I think that's not the right correlation.
  8. Dispelling the Fog

In my opinion, probably 90% of the spiritual path is about healing our relationships with our mothers on an energetic level (sub/unconscious). It is the closest bond we will ever have in a lifetime, for better or worse. Think about it: you don't ever live inside of anyone else for months. You don't really ever depend on anyone else's choices for your immediate survival. You will never be as helpless as you were when she was ensuring that you made it another day. "Mom" is related to the wind/wood element.
  9. Energy exchanges in daily life

My view is that it's not ideal to share energy with people (nature is much better to connect with), unless you are really close to them...like a significant other, or family. It should be a big decision when you are considering connecting with someone. By sharing energy, on a deeper level, you're really creating an attachment and a bond...you're sharing your life with someone else, not just "energy". Then they have access to your stuff, and you have access to theirs...for better or worse! So you have to set boundaries with people, mostly for your own good. If you share too much, you easily lose your center. It's important to remain rooted in yourself...to know your place. To be unmoved by anything. That is taking care of your own health and having personal responsibility. Another thing is that some people have really bad energy following them. I once gave someone access to my energies, and was really sick for 2 days...spitting up blood from the back of my throat. Another time, a close friend must have picked up something bad or was going through a hard time, and it strongly affected my liver just being near him...once again making me sick in the same way. It felt like someone was stabbing my liver, and intuitively seemed like shiny black junk was poisoning it. People can be pretty disgusting energetically. So some questions to consider are: are you willing to take on another person's bad energy? Why would you do that? Do you know how to deal with it, so that you won't get sick or mentally unstable? Do you know about your own "karma" that follows you, and how it might affect an innocent person in a negative way if you share with them? Do you know if you're vamping their energy, draining them and relying on others instead of your own supply? That wouldn't be good for them, but especially not good for you! It's easy to stop the sharing...just focus on other things. Physical sensations are good...like wiggling your toes. Pinching your skin. Etc. The best is probably noticing the physical sensations of the breath in the abdomen. It's a better way of healing to go within yourself completely, and not even pay attention to energies and flows, etc. Abide within the central channel, and let go of the attachments to the world, resting in your own nature. Then you self heal, and other people self heal by being near you. Anyway, just some ideas and perspectives for you to consider!!
  10. Laozi and the magic square

I'm not just trying to be annoying, but it still really doesn't make sense to me.
  11. OBE

Sometimes, it doesn't matter if you're in the bloodline. Living on the land, and having the right spirit, can be enough to be considered part of the ancestral line.
  12. east asian thunder gods

The current mongolian classes have thunder breathing, for those who are interested. It's not the lau gung/phurba type practice that is found in the older videos. Not that I know of, but there should be!
  13. east asian thunder gods

Raiden mostly looks like a bad ass rice farmer.
  14. Laozi and the magic square

This is very interesting, but I'm having a hard time understanding how the magic square correlates with the verse?
  15. Daoism and Neidan training

I've read that the big dipper spinning counterclockwise is the origin of the swastika.
  16. Deeper Studies

You want to master some martial arts? I'm no expert and have never visited China, but Wudang seems good. Have you seen the higher level priests doing martial forms? It is pretty amazing. Be clear in what you want to learn and develop at, then it'll be easier to do so.
  17. Zang Fu

Hey now, is being a bum such a negative thing? ...I like your exploration! One thing I noticed is that you only focused on the negative emotions associated with these organs. What about the positive aspects? PS- My favorite source for TCM information on the organs are these web pages (if you scroll down a bit, under the "Properties and Functions" sections): http://www.itmonline.org/5organs/kidney.htm http://www.itmonline.org/5organs/liver.htm http://www.itmonline.org/5organs/heart.htm http://www.itmonline.org/5organs/spleen.htm http://www.itmonline.org/5organs/lung.htm
  18. If you're referring to my section, it was nothing personal. I deleted some of my own posts in there too. I like to clean up, so that it better represents quotes or ideas that I like. Peace. _/\_
  19. There no awakening for Kundalini

    Good thing it's being released.
  20. Centenarians

Damn it, I don't like eggs that much.
  21. Dispelling the Fog

I do it for a minimum of 20 minutes.
  22. Dispelling the Fog

Practice zhan zhuang for long periods at a time. Longer than you like...and stay present with it. It literally dispels fog. Peace.
  23. How To Heal A Cold With Tao? Or Zen?

For a light cold that's coming on, I just exhale out of the mouth slowly (so the exhale is longer than the inhale). This warms the body (so it fights infections), and it's said that breathing out of your mouth expels sick qi. For something that's scientifically proven, breathing out of the mouth gets rid of excess moisture and heat. Basically, I don't know how it works to get rid of sickness but I do it anyway!
  24. Member Ranks

I would like to be demoted to companion. Just kidding... ...but yeah I've said too much.
