    I've noticed that anger is stored in the calves. When you stimulate the calves, it can release. If you focus on practicing breathing when you feel angry, it will help. If you feel too angry for breathing to help, then just do what you think is best to release it, and know that after some time the intensity will balance out.

    My point is that this isn't actual forgiveness here. Aren't we all becoming sensitive enough to tell? After thinking about it quite a bit, that's what I think the "problem" has been at this forum. Not our attitudes, but our sensitivity to the attitudes we've always had. We are just becoming more sensitive. I'm the type of person who knows that a bandaid doesn't heal a wound...the wound heals of itself after some time. The happiness we get from a bandaid (saying I forgive you when you really don't) is shallow. It's just a distraction from the wound, which will still be there until its dealt with. Oh well, thanks for the cream cake. Edit: another thing...a couple of times in my life I've had a really intense fight with a best friend or my brother. Those experiences were really interesting, because it was as if a storm was brewing, and then we just had to let it out and say our piece. Afterward, there was actually more mutual respect, and we were able to joke about it. If we had kept it inside, and tried to "save face" by acting all P.C., then I wonder if I'd still be as close with these people.
  3. Exercise, Energy, and Awareness

    My view on this is that it's necessary to do the minimum recommendations by the AHA. Moderate exercise 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week. The circulatory system is the most important thing to keep healthy. So the heart rate should be increased, but it doesn't have to be intense. Brisk walking, or a slow jog is good. I think doing a taiji form 30 minutes a day would be a little too light...but there are some energy practices which would work very well due to raising the heart rate. Having taken a few exercise physiology courses, it seems that trail walking for long periods is the best Western physical activity. Or cross country skiing. Those athletes are the healthiest of all (really high vo2max). Something fun to look into is the electron transport chain, where the body can actually produce more ATP (energy) than it burns, and the byproduct is pure water (versus carbon dioxide, lactic acid, etc). Ideally your mitochondria is doing this, and using fat as its main energy source. Exercising appropriately trains the body so that it can do this more often. Whereas high intensity exercise trains the body to work in a more inefficient way. A little bit of resistance training is necessary for bone health, as well as the appropriate amount of strength you desire. But I think muscles pretty much take care of themselves if you're healthy...unless you want to look like Conan the Barbarian. So that in addition to a good energy practice, and you'll be very healthy. Back to the original post, about having more awareness, I don't think there's a strong correlation with exercise.

  5. I like to do really gentle neck rolls with breath retention, while working slightly below the throat area. It's a place where C7/T1 seems to connect with the shoulders and front parts of the clavicle. I use a bright white visualization for it, and meditate upon it while I do circles and hold my breath. I think it originated from the Bon tradition. It's in the book Healing with Form for those who want to experiment with it. Personally, I've found that to be the most helpful thing for neck problems!

    I don't think negative thought forms (what he calls demons) are a big deal. Easy to just ignore. They go away when you focus on positive things. But here is something to think about: why are you meditating? Are you seeking wisdom? If you want to know the truth or have enlightenment, then you may have to face everything that exists, and not keep anything hidden. If you are just meditating to reduce stress, then you might want to be sure of the type of meditation you're doing. Some people may not want to open up, and that's fine.

    I don't know about kundalini, but I've also noticed a lot of heat in my genital area from spiritual practices. I think cooling "the boys" off is a brilliant idea! They can be damaged from too much heat.

    In my limited experience, natural breathing (moving the diaphragm) is a big key to releasing strong emotions. Reverse breathing can build too much tension, which would be counterproductive at times. Keep smiling so that the lust turns into love. It's a very thin line between the two.

    I've read that the Isis Egyptian school has an orbit, but they don't really practice it like Taoists do. They do things at specific points which open them in a specific way. Interesting to read different ideas here. I'm hungry for moooooorrrreee knoooowwwllleeeddgggee!
