I sort of had the same impression as your brother in law, although it was a very beautiful documentary.

Water path is up the spine. Wind is reverse orbit. ...this delineation is according to Yang Jwing Ming. Other schools might call these different things.
-
That's a great introduction..."good work" to the author!

Wind path is great. I remember you asking about it in the past, Blasto...seems you are being led to it frequently! It's totally natural, and can be practiced in a gentle way (by just guiding with awareness, instead of pushing your sensations around). It does good things! It's a more spiritual type of circulation, whereas regular MCO is for strengthening your energy. If you're doing it wrong, your body will let you know. Simple. For cooling off the body in the summer, it'd probably be better to have a lot of cooling foods, drink enough water, and to keep a fan on you.

Who cares... Steve, do you really take the time to ensure that your clothing comes from China, specifically made by someone living on Tien Shan, to ensure that you look "authentic" to others?
-
Here is another post from winpro... I think it does have to do with water.

What do you consider the best night practice or meditation?
Aetherous replied to thelerner's topic in General Discussion
Really good. I like to do a specific meditation for the throat/crown before bed, which is similar to the upward moving prana tsa lung exercises in "Healing with Form Energy and Light". -
I don't think anyone besides winpro himself can say what he meant, because he wasn't using a common framework to describe this. Solvent could have been referring to "three flowers meeting at the top", but really that is just a guess.

Totally!

helping thouse who do not know much about taoism and are still young?
Aetherous replied to mewtwo's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, totally agreed. If I could cure cancer and AIDs, I'd be talking to my state university yesterday! It's all about helping others, and no one is being helped as long as the general opinion is "oh that stuff doesn't work". However, if you have published research showing that it does, the opinions can change! -

This is very true. Look at it from the point of view of a cancer patient. So many claims are bogus, and so many things don't work. Wouldn't it be nice to have a reliable and proven alternative therapy? But in all honesty that doesn't exist. People always reference Chunyi Lin as a reliable source because some doctors at Mayo Clinic like him, but where are the claims of curing cancer and AIDs? Here are 4 pages of their research... http://www.learningstrategies.com/Qigong/Study1.asp Why is cancer not being cured in humans? -
In "Qigong for Total Wellness" Baolin Wu says that women enhance their longevity by getting pregnant. I did not just make that up.
-
I've also heard about this from the native american and "hindu" traditions...
-
What was it lacking clarity on? Any specific thing you're wondering?

His version of MCO is kind of interesting and different...there's a lot of back and forth clearing the channels, versus going in just one direction. I haven't tried it that way. I haven't seen the small universe book, but I'd recommend it over the DVD anyway. His books rock. I think it's okay to push it a little bit in training. In his DVD, he says that in the past he focused a lot on natural breathing because it was recommended as the safe foundation, but now he teaches all of his students reverse breathing right away, because it helps so much. So, it's possible to be overly cautious when you could really be making a lot of progress instead. It's enough to know that natural breathing is there as a safety to balance you out, is the impression I got from the SU dvd.

Cya man, enjoy your shamanic adventures!

That would be very impressive! How close are you to this goal?

Chili peppers are good for you in moderation. If you start to notice bad symptoms, then stop eating them and see if it goes away. There is too much misinformation out there which says, "don't eat this". People eat all sorts of things and it doesn't affect their health, because the body is resilient. The doctor's advice to give you something that balances your condition was a good idea. Unless you're allergic to a food, it's fair game.

WHich of the 5 elements would you associate with the color pink?
Aetherous replied to Pietro's topic in General Discussion
Adeha, That is very interesting. Here is another interesting thing about pink: it was once used as a camouflage for navy ships during the dawn and dusk periods. The specific color is called Mountbatten pink. -
BP Water-Fire alchemy: NOT a political thread, please

Really interesting thought. I'm also curious about what makes you think this... -
Really? No wonder so many people are having problems with it, then.
-
I apologize for making you feel bad, SJ. But a lot of what you write here is false information. The MCO is fine to practice if you know what you're doing. Your description of when you tried it shows that you didn't have the right instruction. It's totally fine to skip over closed areas of the body. It's a mistake to think you should open them immediately. Done correctly, you're not forcing your energy (or especially your heat!) around. You're using the awareness to clear the 2 channels. Well alright. Just keep this in mind as you practice your qigong... "Spiritual growth is emotional growth, being spiritually advanced is being emotionally mature." -quoted from your own website
-
Qigong doesn't include MCO. Neigong does. Lots of people fear what they don't understand. There are a thousand incorrect ways to do any common thing.
-
Awesome...that motivates me to stretch. Thanks!

Totally agree.
