  1. Haha...interesting point that no one else seemed to consider.

This is true, even about what I said to you, Lino. Getting involved in these types of discussions can give us a rush and be a little addicting. It's most helpful to recognize this, and back away from the computer for a while. Not saying you should...saying I should. It's no fun getting caught up in this stuff.

Lino, Being a pushover (in my opinion) means being controlled by the frustration you feel when you read That Guy's posts, and giving him the middle finger because you don't know what else to do. He is controlling you. Not being a pushover would mean you can deal with your own emotions, and act somewhat wisely, seeing the positive side of That Guy. His skepticism is something great, and if it makes people uncomfortable, then that's only because they are believing in lies. Anyway, I don't think you're a horrible person or something. I just think people at this forum need to look at their actions and take a deep breath...it often gets too crazy in here.

If you're a spiritual cultivator, then what are you cultivating? Your actions show it. Giving someone the finger or telling them they're not worth your time of day (among other things various people have done and said in here)...these actions speak very loudly. Aren't you practicing? You should be more calm. It's counterproductive to allow yourself to get all worked up over someone who is simply skeptical. Where is the wisdom? Wouldn't it be more helpful to simply breathe and smile?
  5. What's with the twisted humor that so many people have here? I like to joke around, but lately it's just disturbing.
  6. We are lucky to have the few women that we do on this forum.
  7. Kundalini

Fiveelementtao, Thanks for answering me. I like what you said.
  8. Kundalini

Fiveelementtao, That's a good idea. What is your definition of what it is and what it does?
  9. Kundalini

Hm, I usually agree with you, but disagree in this case.
  10. Stress Eraser

I got a refurb too...look forward to seeing what you think.
  11. Am I doing the Standing Meditation Correctly?

aANVaI9jI7A Forum member "Blasto" has this video linked in his signature...it's good instruction. The only thing I'd really change with the structure in that video is to put the hands lower, approximately in line with the nipples. Look in a mirror at the front as well as to your side, to see your alignments. Feel integrated as a whole.
  12. Stress Eraser

Got the stress eraser today. So apparently what gives me the best score (3) consistently is breathing out for 6-7 counts, then it takes like 2-3 counts of an inhale for another triangle to appear. Pretty far off from a 1:1 ratio for me. I wonder if it's further off, if it means that you've stored more stress. I was trained to be very alert by the military, and never really figured out how to shut it off completely...so that could be why my scores are like that. Something interesting this made me think of is Nan Huai-Chin's advice to focus on the exhale during breathing practice, since this stimulates the PNS. I am exhaling quite a bit more. After achieving 3s for a while, I stopped doing it and experienced a pretty strong buzz. Awesome!
  13. I was asked the question when I was 7, and I said "astronaut." But really I was lying...I just wanted to be a kid my whole life.

Hey man, they're having a seminar in London next month! http://www.kundaliniawakening.com/london-january-2010.html
  15. Kabbalah

For some reason I'm not on the same wavelength as you, so discussion is impossible. Peace.
  16. What type of Daoist are you? -- Part 1

    No, you don't.
  17. Fasting and Kung fu Training

Steam, Well, actually protein is the worst food energy source. So I'd say the best bet is to eat a balanced meal an hour or two before working out, which includes carbs. The only reason to really eat protein is to get the amino acids...not to gain energy. I disagree with this. Right after working out, the carbs will mostly be used to rebuild muscle and won't store as fat. Once again, I'd recommend a balanced meal (within half an hour of the work out). It will make no difference if you go to sleep a little bit after this or not. I apologize for being technical, but it's good to get the real info. This is what I've learned the past semester in exercise physiology and nutrition.
  18. Houses are generally always cracking and creaking, and only in meditation time are we finally quiet enough to notice it. That's the best explanation. Another is that energy is affecting it. Another is that spirits are around and making themselves known. I like visualization practices. Used to hate them and think it was just contrived, but it does impact the energy in good ways, depending on what you do.
  19. Qigong video

Dang why do I always forget Spring Forest? It's really inexpensive and good. No problem, Leon.
  20. Qigong video

With some things you don't need a teacher. I really like primordial qigong, which anyone can do on their own. It's just as effective as something a high level teacher will show you. And you can find out how to do zhan zhuang (standing practice) and breathing on either this site or google if you search...standing grounds you and generates energy, and breathing makes your energy pure and circulates it for health. These things won't make you have amazing super powers, but they are good qigong practices and you may find that some interesting things do happen.
  21. Fasting and Kung fu Training

Steam, Why do you recommend carbs before, and protein after exercise? My nutrition professor basically suggested the opposite. Because insulin spiking after having carbs will interfere with the positive results from the exercising (for about 2 hours)...and if you have carbs right after a workout, they are used mostly to build muscle and don't spike the blood sugar as much, so it's the best time to have them.
  22. Fasting and Kung fu Training

    Yogurt is good.
  23. Fasting and Kung fu Training

My view is different from most. I think fasting destroys your liver. It also increases your energy, so it seems good. Detoxification symptoms are mainly due to the organs telling you "something is wrong!", and it's not really due to actual toxins leaving your body. I would bet that you actually accumulate more by fasting. When you're healthy, the liver should actually do most of the detoxing just fine, but making it work overtime to keep you stable while not getting any food, means that less toxins are being dealt with effectively. Something much better is eating less and more often, like every 3-4 hours. Don't be hungry.
  24. Qigong video

It's debated whether those were parlor tricks, or actual qi causing the electric shocks and fire. I personally tend to think it's just tricks. If it was real, it's actually very rare to find someone who is able to do it. That's why he is so famous, because he's pretty much the only one who has ever been found who can do those things. There's no way to find out how to do this kind of stuff on the internet.
