  1. Make a point to spend more time in those places. Make them your own. Then eventually it won't be a big deal.
  2. Accupuncture

Yeah, don't do it yourself. I say this because I did. More than anything it's just a waste of time! It won't accomplish what you want it to do, even if you have the books. Worst case scenario is that you injure yourself...I suppose it is possible to stimulate the wrong points for your particular type. The art is very complex. The best thing would be to find an acupuncturist that can actually treat your conditions (some won't be able to), and then ask them how you could learn what they know. Some have been raised in it, because their family were acupuncturists...and so they have family methods that you probably won't find at any school or in any book. If those methods work, cool! Others went through schools, and it seems that not every school is the same. As for books: "The Web that has no Weaver" is a great theoretical introduction, but you won't be able to practice with it. A good book for specific points is Peter Deadman's "A Manual of Acupuncture", and you will be able to practice a little with it, but you'll be in way over your head and won't be able to achieve the desired effect. So, good luck.
  3. Taoist View on Vegetarianism

Taoism wasn't always an organized religion with rules and precepts to follow. From what I've read, it began as a way of seeking longevity and harmony with nature. Maybe vegetarianism began after people lost the way... Look at this forum...none of us truly know what we're talking about, but we all pontificate and argue. Some of us write books or publish websites that give our personal views. Could it be the same with organized Taoism...that the people who wrote the books were just as full of it?
  4. hey guys

  5. Give up smoking

    Wow, I'm glad it worked.
  6. Taoism Video Lectures by Professor Quesada

Despite not being a philosophical Taoist, I enjoyed her lectures.
  7. Darin, I like what you said. Could you discuss what makes a 'pure awakening' type of experience, spiritual? For instance, what differentiates it from a drug induced experience? Feelings of oneness or love for example?
  8. Qigong psychosis

Edit: Maybe a PM would be better.
  9. Qigong psychosis

How could you possibly know this to be true? Well, I am someone saying it isn't. Something much better and clearer could be written.
  10. Qigong psychosis

I agree that it'd be nice to warn beginners (and reminds ourselves) of the dangers of spiritual practice. And also include tips on how to make it safe. The article wasn't so great, though.
  11. Do any Bums stare at Goats?

Trunk, I am kinda shocked to see that someone took that literally. I was saying it tongue in cheek...thought that was obvious. I don't actually think killing people, even "bad guys", is cool. I was using the word "cool" to poke fun at the types of people who believe in such stories...attempting to equate them with little kids who just saw a super violent movie. "Dat wuz so awwsumm!" They are fun stories, which could be made into Hollywood movies...but they are not real. That was my only point. My apologies for the confusion.
  12. Do any Bums stare at Goats?

Well, I agree with mantis. I don't believe the stories of the guys interviewed. They seem like typical "talkers"...guys who end up believing their own fun stories. Although it would be cool if there was a secret CIA program where a group of kids flew into a war zone and used their psychic powers to kill all enemies within a 20 mile radius...really cool. Have you seen something like that, Martial Development? I've seen some weird stuff, but nothing like that.
  13. Do any Bums stare at Goats?

Military guys loooooove to tell stories.
  14. Further Internal Alchemy Question

Yes I experience similar stuff. Something I've been noticing... Lust is an unrefined form of love. So the reason why you haven't actually transmuted anything, despite doing the MCO and retention, is because there are still blockages to full love. Maybe emotional, belief caused, habitual...who knows. The solution? I'm not sure. Gentle reverse breathing, smiling, and feeling/"falling into" the love in the heart might help.
  15. My bad. Somehow I missed this...
  16. This is not a martial arts forum. It's a Taoist forum where martial arts are sometimes discussed. Minor conflicts and heated arguments are fine, but planning for people to gang up and attack someone is something else entirely. I hope to never see it again here! If it does happen again, I hope the moderators would immediately and permanently ban whoever is suggesting it.
  17. He looks like a fairly normal human being to me... I'm NOT a Verdesi supporter. I just think the intense hatred and aggression towards him here is disturbing. And this is just plain sad... You want someone to video tape beating him up? He's not even a martial artist. How could you humiliate a teacher of the Tao on camera? Out-meditate him? I hope that it's against the rules here to organize a beating. If it's not, it should be...that's just ridiculous. This is a Taoist forum. Be calm!
  18. Do any Bums stare at Goats?

"Jackie Treehorn treats objects like women, man!"
  19. Do any Bums stare at Goats?

I can't wait to see it!
  20. New here... Hello All!

Thanks for sharing your music! It is perfect for this evening. Very enjoyable and good.
  21. Spontaneous Kundalini Experience

Whoops I should clarify: I wasn't saying "yin fire" isn't a real condition, or possibility for practitioners. Just that your theories for why it happens seem very inaccurate.
  22. New here... Hello All!

Welcome! 2 things: 1) I think you'd like the Hua Hu Ching. ...and... 2) May we hear your music? Peace, Scott
  23. Spontaneous Kundalini Experience

We should probably leave each other's traditions and paths alone! They have different rules and methods. Thinking our own methods apply to everyone else is just plain wrong. Different practices work in different ways. There is no universal right and wrong, and EVERY path has its dangers. Also I should say that people shouldn't comment on other practices that they have little experience in, because things can easily be misunderstood. If you meditate, stick to that knowledge...and leave the tantra/alchemy to the ones who are actually doing it. I say this because the following info is simply misinformation: Yes moving is great, but everything else you said was bogus.
  24. Sayings of past spiritual teachers!

I love it. My two favorite books of the Bible are Ecclesiastes and James. I would submit a simple quote, but they are pretty dense with good stuff.
  25. Spontaneous movement inspiration thread

Thanks for the video! I truly enjoyed seeing it. I used to do this practice, as well. I will speak from my experience, which is limited and which probably differs from others... For myself, it ended up being more of an intuitive thing, rather than "letting go" of the body like a ragdoll and having some force move me around. The intuitions are still happening, and they are martial, shamanic and beautiful...but it's very subtle and easy to miss. Took me about a year to recognize it. For myself, it's a feeling or vibe, along with a mental image of a movement. It happens at anytime, when I'm not looking for it. Some people may think some of the stuff on the video looks crazy (like when people are laughing), but it's good for the people in the video to feel what it's like to freely express themselves. It's a subjective practice. I think it's best not to show other people your own movements, because it is partly us dealing with our bad energy...watching the movements gives everyone a taste of that. Some movements are actually disturbing to the viewer's energy. I think that's what people pick up on, when they view it, and feel that it's just a bunch of psychos. Otherwise, some movements are good and beautiful...then you know the person is more in tune with their true nature. Another thing to consider: looking for spontaneous movement is disturbing your naturalness. If moving a certain way feels good and freeing, then it's good...yet it's never done in excess. If someone WANTS to start spontaneously moving, they're just going to create imbalances. It'd be better to just be natural than to try and move spontaneously. Trying to move spontaneously is draining your energy outwardly for a useless purpose...it'd be better to feel what's happening within.
