  1. This is what chi really is

enouch, Can you provide a link to where that information came from? I'm mainly interested in if there is any published info from Hunt's magnetism study. That was very interesting!
  2. hello

    Welcome to the taobums!
  3. locked out of AYP

I'm surprised I haven't been kicked off of AYP yet.
  4. To look at it on a basic level, the throat is your inner voice, or will power. If you are feeling repressed by others or a situation, it will be tense. If you are proactive about your situation, it'll be better. Enjoy life.
  5. I don't think it's been done before. Would be great to have.
  6. The Color Purple

In Shuichuan it's related to healing energy. So is green. It seems there are a lot of differing interpretations out there...
  7. Let the right one in

I agree that it's a masterpiece. Seriously one of the top 5 movies I've ever seen. This is what the cover looks like, so no one mixes it up with the Hollywood one they're making... Also, make sure you look on the back, and find the version that has "English (Theatrical)" subtitles included. The first run of the disc they only included a crappy translation...but the theatrical version is best. Anyway, yes, the Hollywood remake one is bound to suck!
  8. Gauging a local 'master' ?

Mike, I won't discuss your questions about who I am/how I've reached my conclusions, because I don't see the point. What branch of Buddhism are you connected with? I like your ideas and the definition about practical wisdom...agree 100% on that.
  9. Ken Cohen is the real deal

You would think that a qigong master would look healthy, since qigong is supposedly for health...but the fact is that qigong is more of a complementary wellness thing...so if you don't have a healthy diet and aren't working out, you will be less healthy...but still have a lot of qi-abilities.
  10. Gauging a local 'master' ?

Ya Mu, I don't see the difference between saying you are able to do these things and doing them, when it comes to attracting power hungry students.
  11. Gauging a local 'master' ?

See the topic Enlightenment, in depth. I believe the Buddhist type of enlightenment has to do with wisdom, and differs from other kinds of enlightenment or realization. The definition of enlightenment xabir and I came to in that topic shows how it differs. I think that has to do with something we can call ultimate wisdom (just made that up). Also, I believe wisdom is something people either develop or don't, based on how much they care about the truth and how observant they are. I'm talking about the practical kind of wisdom here. The kind that knows when not to do something. It seems to me that energy based practices have nothing to do with either type of wisdom, practical or ultimate. It's something else that people either work on or don't, based on who they are. So if we're looking for qigong/tantra/yoga/whatever masters, the basis we should judge them shouldn't be on how wise they are...although it'd be best to have a wise teacher. But we should judge them based on whether they're far enough along on those types of paths or not. We wouldn't judge a math whiz on their grammar. They have to do equations for us to be able to tell how good they are. But yeah, it's nice if the math whiz can write well, too. I know this seems like an argument that goes against the grain. It takes too much energy to keep it up, so I guess that's enough to say. If others disagree and think siddhis should be kept secret, that's fine. Maybe they are right and wise to believe so. Not like my opinion matters...it just differs. Peace.
  12. Lung-gom-pa

Kunlun Max's version of this is very different than anything described. It requires the sky eye being open, and using energy lines of the earth to propel you along...and a body position to get you started running. No idea if it actually works, but yeah, way different than anything else.
  13. Gauging a local 'master' ?

Forest of emptiness, Thank you for insulting me. We were. That has nothing to do with wisdom. Wisdom is something cultivated separately from that type of enlightenment, and results in a different kind of enlightenment when taken to its end.
  14. Psychedelic Drugs/ Do They Give You Enlightenment?

stagnant river bed someday the flood will rush through nothing will remain
  15. Gauging a local 'master' ?

Forestofemptiness, Oh, I didn't know we were looking for a wise person. I thought the question was whether they were a master of tantra or not. That's something else entirely! So I agree with you...there is no correlation between superpowers and wisdom. Like Ya Mu said: "Wisdom is something that has to be pursued and has nothing whatsoever to do with phenomena."
  16. Lost

Yea the show gets very bizarre...I think it was good when it was on tv because then you have a week to process it, and start to want to see it again.
  17. Gauging a local 'master' ?

    I am too.
  18. Gauging a local 'master' ?

Sorry guys...I just don't care about beating around the bush anymore. Siddhis are a sign that someone is somewhat advanced. It weeds out the fake teachers, of which THERE ARE MANY.
  19. You Should ..

You should... 1) Keep in mind that you know very little. 2) Stop blathering. 3) Value the dejected.
  20. Gauging a local 'master' ?

It's pretty much impossible to judge anyone...but their ability to perform siddhis can give you a good enough idea that they're more advanced than you, and thus have something to teach you.
  21. Psychedelic Drugs/ Do They Give You Enlightenment?

Disagree. Just because you failed in your search doesn't mean the treasure isn't still buried somewhere. As to whether psychedelic drugs give enlightenment, the answer depends on which type of enlightenment you're referring to.
  22. Lost

    Too hot to handle!
  23. Lost

Hell yeah, I have been watching it for years.
  24. What are you listening to?

My favorite song of theirs is Neverland... I read in an interview once that the guy in the group never contributed vocals...it was all her just messing with her voice! Great music.
  25. What do you think, Fire or Water?

Are we talking about styles of practice...elements in the body...metaphors for something...? I prefer to discuss fire and water as elements in the body. And with that you can't just have one.
