Sounds good, xenolith. Agree to disagree.

Thanks for that Pietro.

Philosophy VS Spirituality (Is there a big difference)
Aetherous replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
They compliment each other, and both are useful and important. -
I saw it, and it was pretty good. Comedy horror. Entertaining! The only downside was that for some reason there were TONS of teenage girls there, and they all screamed in my ear as loud as possible every couple of minutes.

Specific to the statements. I guess the question is: are you a Taoist immortal now? If not, then how can you say for sure that you've done it right?
-
I tend to not believe you. Nothing personal.

You have to develop one pointed concentration first...the ability to meditate on one object. Then you become aware of your self, which can be anything that your perception assumes to be you. So at first, asking "who am I?" and trying to locate your true self is good. So you find what seems to be the true self. Then you drop that, because it's not the true self. Anything that you can be aware of could be said to be not-you. For instance, your arm isn't you...it can be cut off and you're still you. Or your thoughts can't be you, because they disappear and you're still yourself. So if you're aware of anything, negate it and leave it behind. All sensation, all mind stuff. The perception will then go blank for a second, or try to pick up a new self. Just keep dropping and negating. Go super deep in consciousness, dissembling all of the different identifications. You're doing it right when the self seems to shine from the heart, and when light shines in the inner vision. But those things should still be negated. That's my view...I'm no expert. It takes experimentation. I suggest spending a few hours at a time.

Taoist Yoga translated by Charles Luk. There are multiple people cited in the book saying it. We can either choose to believe it, or not. I think their point is just that you shouldn't be aroused when transmuting the jing. They say that having the morning wood thing, where you have an erection without sexual arousal...that is the perfect time to transmute. So who knows the truth of the matter. It's just another opinion that's out there...and look at how many people are truly successful with the upward draw. It hasn't worked well for me...but to each their own. I suppose so. I am as well. I think it's something that you just have to change about yourself, if you want to actually be practicing alchemy. I know, it's hard to come to terms with.

Great man from what I knew. Kung Fu was awesome. Too bad to hear about this.

Want to inner smile? I can locate your lower dan tien. Lets open the belt channel to work on the thrusting channel. ...lame.

Didn't we just say the same thing???

In Taoism, a person's spirit tends to be drawn out towards the world, from its home in the heart, to the senses and brain...usually mostly the eyes. "Fire (spirit) moving upward." So Taoists draw the spirit back in to the center of the brain through various methods (one of which can be self enquiry), and then it can collect at its source in the heart through the central channel which connects the two. It's one half of the foundation of alchemy. For self enquiry methods, I like using the dropping or letting go method. Not sitting there asking, "Who am I?" or focusing on a feeling of beingness...but locating what you consider to be yourself in the moment, and dropping it because it's actually not who you are...and naturally the brain attempts to find the self again. Rinse and repeat. That's the method that has worked wonders for me...although I haven't done it a lot because I lack the motivation. And red phoenix from Kunlun is amazing for this.

If you are aware of awareness, it's not real awareness that you're aware of. There isn't an eternal witness that can be found. Phenomenon is all that is. Sorry I can't debate too well. Too much thinking for me. So I will bow out... Brain hurts!

And these people are aware of this consciousness? If so then it's an object of awareness. If they're unaware of it, can never be aware of it, and can only assume it exists...then it doesn't exist.

Hey Living Mountain, Welcome. Check out the book Taoist Yoga translated by Charles Luk. In my opinion it has the best instructions on jing transmutation...although it's a very hard to understand book, and probably won't do much for you without already knowing a qigong master and having special practices.

I'm with Froggie on this one. Everyone contributes the best that they have here, and if I think that someone's contribution is less than another's, it might just be my own mistake, and it means I'm probably missing out on something great they're sharing. Open thy mind! It's rewarding. I can't think of anyone I'd leave off the list of top ten....maybe Goldisheavy. Yeah dude, you even voted for yourself! So anyway, I can't really make a list. But I do have to say, Drew Hempel has posted amazing things here (although also a lot of confusing theories). So he is probably number 1 for me. So yeah, I like you all. Thanks to those friends who voted for me! Here is a nice picture to put in the midst of the text.

Buddhayo, You are totally right! Forest of emptiness, Your post is spot on. If consciousness can be separated from its objects, then it could be said that only objects are phenomenon. However: It can't! So I guess it'd be best to say "all is phenomenon."
-
Good point. There is no duality.
-
A phenomenon is anything that could be an object of consciousness.
-
Some say you can't transmute aroused sexual energy...or that it's not useful if you draw it up.
-
All talk of attraction and stuff is a waste of time. Love, Little bro

I watched this once before. Yes, the stillness really struck me as well....but also the anger/fear/despair, etc. Stillness is only one ingredient in spiritual soup! Seems like a decent guy, though.

Who Here Meditates At Least 1 Hour Every Day?

Ape, Where are the DVDs you're coming out with man!? I am patiently waiting! Ya Mu, Yeah I'd love to check out your workshop this month, Michael, but now things are looking even worse financially for me. Oh well, go with the flow..things happen for a reason. If something amazing happens, I will give you a call and drive down. It would be fun to learn about "beer qigong"...but only in moderation! -
After reading the whole book: I think the warm up is the best part. As to the actual 9 palaces qigong set, I'm probably not going to give it a try because I have too much on my plate right now and it just doesn't jive with me. Will someone else try it and post results? But the warm up section (which is most of the book) is totally worth the cost of the book, I think. And Ya Mu, there are a lot of things which turn me away from Dr Wu...like his website talking about 2012 and somehow hinting that qigong will help us avoid the catastrophes that are to come.
