I like the Bible...but don't prefer most parts of Christianity. I like the Dhammapada...Maitreya's translation. Awareness watching awareness meditation when done in the right way. Logical thinking. People in general.

Cam, I know, I would've enjoyed it but it seems my life took a different turn! Same to you. -
My impression of the Kunlun Seminar tonight

Perhaps the transmission is still with me, but at this point I don't feel different than before I began. I don't feel a transmission energy has stuck with me. -
Good stuff, I just misunderstood what you meant by that, freeform. And joeblast, I agree with what you said of course. The 'demons' are our own issues.

I can't say that's true. Not in my case. Not in anyone's case that I've known who has practiced it. In fact the opposite seems to be true, which has been admitted: what's kept inside starts to come out. All of the ugliness and what not. Perhaps the ego becomes more cunning, so that the practitioner will think "Sweet! Kunlun is making my ego go away!" When in fact it's more powerful than ever. That's what kunlun seems to do...then it's up to the practitioner what they choose...stay with who they are currently or change into someone that doesn't have that stuff. And they have to make the change...that has nothing to do with kunlun.

My impression of the Kunlun Seminar tonight

My view, not being invested in kunlun anymore at all, hasn't changed regarding the detractors at this forum. The majority of people who are "against" it have no idea what it's about. It's like hearing about a movie, and reading a couple of great reviews, then deciding that the movie sucks without even watching it. I'll give an example: I recently heard of the movie, "Changeling". I absolutely did not want to see it because of the title...it sounded like another stupid horror movie. Where a mother's son is abducted and then replaced with some monster creature. Changeling...that's what it made me think of. I glanced over a couple reviews that said it was great...watched the first 10 minutes, then said "this totally sucks". I was bored to death and just did not care for what I thought the plot was going to be. At that point, I could've gone around saying "Do not watch the Changeling, it's the worst movie that came out this year!" That would've been based on my experience with it. So a few days later, I read some more reviews. EVERYONE was saying it was a great movie, and I decided to force myself to watch more than 10 minutes of it to see why everyone was saying "10/10". After the first 20 minutes or so, the movie started to get better. And after that, it just got better and better. Great plot. It had nothing to do with what I thought it was about...it was way more of a drama than a horror movie, and it turned out to be based on a true story. Great acting, too. I recommend the movie now. I still think the title sucks. But my point is: if you don't know, then you don't know. So by saying anything, you're misleading people. Maybe you are right to be cautious...but please give reasons and evidence why to make this a more intelligent discussion. You can even use my case as some evidence, since my experience with kunlun wasn't all its cracked up to be. But please don't just take a side and hold your ground for no good reason. -
How is spending less going to help us recover? I always thought that to stabilize the economy we need to spend more on American products and services.

That's understandable.

I find it funny when someone who apparently is egoless or transformed or whatever...is disgusted by the egos of others. To me it just shows that there's a long way to go for that practitioner.

Lets see it, Ape. Video time. -
Why do you say that? It seems to me like Obama being elected was the choice of the majority.

Sweet this looks entertaining. Thanks for recommending it, Mal!

Awesome...sounds like a good technique. I'd love to learn it. -
Yeah people shouldn't just be sending energy without knowing what they're doing.

In the Kunlun book it says he is married.

Haha! I do that on amazon, as well. I agree that it's refreshing, even if I disagree with some of what he says. SJ has brought balance back to the force! -
While I do believe that people can tend to leech off others, and perhaps drain us on all levels... I don't think it's a good way to be to call them energy vampires and avoid them. The best thing to do would be to show them how to cultivate energy for themselves. My opinion is that they have some inner imbalance...avoiding them isn't going to help balance them out. Share what you know with them! Otherwise, you're a hoarder, and are doing no good for this world.

Something interesting is that Swami G used to do distance shaktipat for certain people. Back in the fall of 2003 I was in contact with her and was going to do that. It required a non digital photo to be taken, and worship of different deities (one of which was a shiva lingam stone that you poured water onto each morning...the other two I think were ganesha and kali). I was going to do it (although I thought it was very weird, especially to have a little altar in my dorm room) and for my sacrifice for the diksha, I offered my celibacy for a month since it was the biggest thing I could think of to give at the time...then I failed at being celibate the whole month and shortly after (for a different reason I believe) she started thinking it would be better to do it in person.

Hey Harry, Where are you located? I don't know those languages, but good luck with starting your practice.

I agree with the last two statements. I too applaud your sensibility, talkinghead. I will also suggest that you don't just go out of curiosity or whatever. If it feels too cultish and odd for you, just leave it alone. I don't believe it's worth it. Okay so that being said, I disagree with the rest of what Starjumper said... I don't practice kunlun anymore, but I can't agree with these ideas that Starjumper proposes. Unless a decent argument was given as to why these fear based claims are being made, no one should listen to it. For instance: 1) What is the something that is more sinister? 2) What does it do to your soul? 3) What has Max lied about? 4) What is the big big problem? 5) How do you know you're stuck with it for life? These ideas are coming from someone who has no experience with the practice or the teacher. So the 6th question should be: "how do you know this is true?" Then when everything is answered, it's a good idea to see if it sounds rational. And to also see if it resonates with you, and if you can intuitively feel its truth. Listen...I didn't get good results from kunlun practices. I did it for 6 months after a seminar and started developing health problems. But I don't believe I was poisoned or anything. My soul was not harmed. There is no big big problem as far as I can tell. I think all sorts of spiritual practices can cause negative effects...all it means is that it isn't for the practitioner's constitution at the time. For myself, I've started showing symptoms of Damp-Heat invading the Spleen (based on a self diagnosis in TCM). Why? Well... It could be that kunlun brought out this underlying condition in me (maybe it was passed down from my parents, which is very possible because my sister has the same symptoms). It could be due to my diet and lifestyle (which hasn't been so good). It could be due to practicing kunlun in the wrong way in the beginning (getting dizzy and pushing it in practice). It could also be due to the way that the spontaneous portion is practiced (sitting in a chair, hands in a certain position). But whatever the reason, I am not going to easily believe that my soul has been damaged by the transmission and that it was evil. The spiritual results I got from the practice, which started to manifest after like 5 months, were great. You could get the same results from other good qigong practices... I agree that the way Max presents himself is odd. If you don't like it, then leave it alone. Seriously: don't go. Why spend so much money on something that you don't see as worth it? If it looks like a cult, and the followers look like they aren't independent, then guess what: that's what it is. It doesn't matter how hard Max will try to not make it be a cult...it will be a cult if the followers can't stand on their own two feet. Perhaps that is the case. If you see that happening, leave. -
Have you tried standing? My personal opinion is that a lot of the strange sensations we get in meditation are due to nerve root irritations from slightly poor posture in the spine.
