I am interested in it, but can't practice it myself. It's too upward/fire path to mix with what I do. Give it a shot and let me know! I see potential in the technique.

Personally, every kunluner's concepts on kunlun point directly away from my experience of it. As we can all see pretty clearly at the kunlun forum...each person's journal is quite different. And each person's temperament...everyone is such an individual. When I'm reading other people's posts, I hardly relate to any of it. I was going to post this thought earlier today over there in my personal practice space, but didn't...I guess it's just as fitting posted here.

If you really want to heal it: Take a break from standing practice for a couple of days. Put your hands on the area, and with your mind pay attention to the exact location where you experience the problem for a good amount of time each day. At least 15 minutes at a time. A few times a day is better than once. Give your leg a massage at random times, starting from the foot and working your way up...don't worry about massaging really deep, just do it so it's relaxing. It can also help right after you get done with standing practice, and it's bothering you, to put ice on the area. Just fill a plastic bag with crushed ice, put a cloth over it and put it on the area...I guess you could sit on it. Then leave it for 20 minutes. You should do some stretches before and after training, as well as when you're taking a break. When you stretch out your legs, don't push into the stretch. Just relax, move slowly into the position and when you feel tension, breathe into that tension point as you hold it there. Do not keep pushing it. Hold for like 10 seconds, then start all over and repeat a few times. I like these two stretches... There is also another stretch which is great, but I couldn't find a picture...standing, put one of your heels on the ground in front of you, keeping that leg straight, and bend down to reach your toes...keeping your back straight of course. Doing Intuflow is really good. The beginner portion is free on youtube! Takes about 20 minutes. It's a great warm up. This is just basic stuff. If you are really serious, and this problem isn't going away for a long time, go see a physical therapist or something. Anyway, I think especially in the beginning you can't just do one practice. You will come upon issues like this, and then have to bring in other practices...like stretching. Good training is using whatever tools available to fix your issues so you can continue on.

Is The Official History of Kunlun's Origin Bogus?
Aetherous replied to mwight's topic in General Discussion
I've been thinking lately as well, that this does seem like kundalini. But kundalini is a loose term. I suppose the way that I'm meaning it here is: spiritual energy, or shakti. Not an upward firey movement of energy. So that being said, I think kunlun is a good way to awaken kundalini. At least this is what I've been thinking lately...maybe it's not true. -
Me too. Waiting to hear more...

Is The Official History of Kunlun's Origin Bogus?

I do kunlun and I'm kind of feeling the same way as Cam. Although I am still going to practice. My stance on it is: I am seeing where it takes me. But I love it. -
I tend to think that all of the problems arising aren't the universe telling us something is evil, but rather it's just a matter of us being tested to see if we really want it. Like when you're a kid and you want a fancy bike...it takes some work to get it. There are some pitfalls along the way. But if you're dedicated (as you were) then you accomplish what you set out to do.

If someone initially sees that this system could be for them, then they could save a dollar every day and soon enough they will be able to afford the book and membership. It seems fair enough to me. If what you see before getting the book and being a member isn't worth paying the money, then it probably isn't for you.

I have a really hard time believing this.

I don't understand what you mean?

To point people towards the path and not the person. To the truth and not the teacher. To keep them from being abused and manipulated...

Wish I could make it...but I'm broke! Have fun, make friends! I find myself missing the time I had at the NJ seminar every so often.

I tend to agree with Adam West...it seems to me that no one is perfect. Not even truly enlightened ones. To place our whole trust in another human being is stupid, and to allow another human being to place their whole trust in us is cruel and dishonest. So even though I haven't read the book, I will say that the author is doing something good...shedding light on the huge shadows of the most famous gurus.

Hi...just clicked on your topic...I live in MI as well! The UP, though.

I've been reading a bit in the preview...seems like a good read! Thanks Drew.

Definitely. Or it's the other way around? Enlightenment being the valid technique to manipulate qi.

This is a great opportunity for anyone sitting on the fence about whether to train with a teacher or not. You don't even have to leave your house! -
