Lets reverse that and see the response...

The two bolded points seem to be conflicting...but I get your point anyway.

A ping pong sized ball of colored light (golden, or else your choice), located in the sea of qi area, just forward of the center of the inside of the body. This is a simplified version of a pretty neat practice. Visualizing a bodhisattva...I have simply visualized Green Tara's form, and it has some positive effects. Another thing I do is visualize my ideal self...basically what my perfect body would look like if I had supreme health, what my actions would ideally be like, etc.

And I have no problem with women having women's cultivation discussion. I don't view such a thing as being reverse-sexist.

If you replace the F with a PH it's still an insulting term, mike. We'll probably be saying bye bye to you soon.

You're a man and therefore have literally no insight into the subjective world of women. Or at least that's what some people believe. I don't. I think both genders are capable of insight into the opposite gender...depending on the individual - not everyone is insightful.

Qi Meridians and Acupuncture points
Aetherous replied to Immortal4life's topic in General Discussion
Excellent information, which I was not totally aware of...please feel free to share everything you know! I've just begun studying at a school, and have read Applied Channel Theory...so am one of the very interested. -
Please remind me of it in a PM if you wish. I truly do not recall that, and these days I wouldn't say anything of the sort. I live in a house with a few gays right now. Perhaps sometimes ideas that are expressed in words aren't the full picture of what a person is actually like in reality, and what they actually mean.

We just had a member suspended for quite a while, for saying something that wasn't actually racist but was perceived as such. Action was taken against someone when it wasn't even true bigotry...so I just do not see eye to eye with you, in your negative impression of this forum.
-
It's not exquisitely sensitive to point out that white males are badmouthed here...it's a fact, and there's proof in that post of Seth's. We say no sexism. No racist stuff. Yet here we are doing precisely that. It's good to point this kind of behavior out and put an end to it. Also, the traditionally oppressed groups are not at all oppressed on this forum. We don't have gay haters. We don't have people who tell women to go to the kitchen or something. Just because I take this point of view, that the forum has its rules and people do get banned for saying hateful things, does NOT make me a bigot. Being called that is slander (a false statement that damages my reputation)...and in the same day that Seth did this, he was saying that these perceived bigots should be banned. Despite "us" (I'm really not a bigot, misoygnist, gay hater, whatever the fuck else you guys want to insinuate) not even doing anything to warrant this. It is over the line and ridiculous. I'm all for human rights and dignity, and respect amongst all types of people. Because I said what I did here, does not go against this fact. For instance, I've only been kind to you, Luke. I think we've shared some things regarding Kunlun in the past. I did not treat you with disdain because of who you are. You're an equal member...a taobum...a friend if we met up. So yeah...all of this is just ridiculous. Sorry for feeling this way, but it does not make me one of the hateful.
-
I take this as you calling me a bigot (since I was the one who said this is all getting way too PC), and am reporting your post for slander/insult/harassment. To be clear...the forum rules already prevent actual bigotry. It's all good in the hood, man.
-
Something to think about...you know the racial and gender group most badmouthed at this forum? White males. I won't report your post, Seth...but I will next time.
-
Except that we have a pretty great representation of women, gay, transgender, "other racial groups" here...for an internet forum that's about Taoism and stuff, which is just a bunch of strangers. It's really the medium of communication and what's being communicated that gives us our demographics here. I tend to think all people are respected...except when there is heated debate. At least to me, wishing for other members to be banned is 1000x more hateful than what z00se said recently, for instance. Anyway, already said this (that this discussion is way too PC). It's the opposite of what I want, to continue in a back and forth disagreement, so I'm out of here.

Feedback please! Intention to initiate a group study on Buddhist Ethics.
Aetherous replied to C T's topic in Buddhist Discussion
I will be very interested in this eventually, since understanding the intricacies of all of the vows is pretty challenging for an outsider like me. This book has been on my Amazon wishlist for like a year now. -
Yes. It was an incredibly unwelcoming and unfriendly post. Not all of our members think or feel that way about other members here. I'm sure very few have those kind of biases. At least personally, I'm very fond of literally everyone, and would not want to see a single person leave. We're all like different spices, adding our unique flavor to the mix, that is this forum.

I do not see how I did this. And if it's true, that's all way in the past.

You are much more powerful than some foggy shadow.

Seems to me that TTB is comfortable for women, since there are numerous ones which stick around for years and do well here. So I view this all as being very inaccurate, and overly PC, to the point where it might prove destructive to the forum. I hope this feeling of mine isn't taken as a post which would be uncomfortable for women (I love all of our female members here). If it is, then perhaps we're all being a bit too sensitive, and need to chill out!

Proving Breathless State to Medical Community
Aetherous replied to SecretGrotto's topic in General Discussion
In some ways they are...when they abandon the scientific method in favor of what sounds comfortably "scientific". But in many ways they are not, and it would be great for them to be aware of things such as the breathless state, and to figure out how it works. -

It's good to have the counsel of someone you think might have achieved what you want to achieve. Note the word, "counsel", though...it implies that you still make the decisions regarding yourself. You are the King, or the CEO, of your life, and only you are responsible for it. You consider what they say prior to implementing it...rather than just allowing them to mold you into whatever they see fit. Everyone has a different perception of what's best. Sometimes placing trust and a bit of blind faith in a teacher is necessary, but it's important to maintain control over yourself. If things work, then it's good, but if it's off, then you ask the teacher about it or maybe even ditch them. If they're good, they will likely respect your individuality. You will never want to hand over all of yourself and your free will to another person, even if they're the greatest person alive, because only you have your best interests in mind...and this is your life. But it's really good to have a teacher and in person guide...in some traditions, necessary.

Disable genital arousal created by friction

Good thinking....to have control over them is better than to not have them. -

It's kind of a mind game...if you try to not pay attention to something, guess what you'll end up paying attention to. So part of the issue is psychological. Just realizing this and willing for it to stop will eventually work...and focus on more important things in your life when it's happening. Another part might be a couple of things. One...if you're used to masturbation, your body will naturally have energy and attention going down to that area. Whereas, if you were used to celibacy, this wouldn't be a problem. You wouldn't get turned on from the feeling of pants, because you're not used to getting turned on. So it might just take some time. Another thing that might help...wear boxers (or whatever underwear) to bed, if you don't already. Sleeping nude whether under or over the covers causes the male region to become a lot more sensitive in this way.
