  6. Greetings from the north.

Hi dwitchagi, You are part of Nature and being a'lone' and 'cold' is your present perception relative to where you are now. But not for long - as you have taken steps to change 'now'? Guess you will come along fine - so long your true nature resonates with Nature. - LimA
  7. Hello internet sages

Memento mori (Latin: "remember that you have to die") is the medieval Latin Christian theory and practice of reflection on mortality, especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits. It is related to the ars moriendi ("The Art of Dying") and similar literature. Memento mori has been an important part of ascetic disciplines as a means of perfecting the character by cultivating detachment and other virtues, and by turning the attention towards the immortality of the soul and the afterlife. - Wikipedia Hi thelerner, "Remember that you have to die" = "Don't forget you're going to die". Synonyms. - LimA
  8. Hello internet sages

N'OUBLIE PAS QUE TU VAS MOURIR (DON'T FORGET YOU'RE GOING TO DIE) - is a 1995 French drama film directed, co-written by and starring Xavier Beauvois. The film tells the story of an HIV positive man who travels to Italy. Movie info: In this downbeat drama from France, Benoit (Xavier Beauvois) is an upper class art student who is shocked to discover that he's been drafted into the Army. Eager to avoid military service, Benoit feigns illness, consults a psychiatrist for depression, and even tells the draft board he's gay, all to no avail. In a fit of desperation, Benoit attempts suicide, only to learn in the hospital that he has tested positive for HIV. Now that he has a real reason to be depressed, Benoit sinks into an emotional downturn and ends up in jail, where he is introduced to Omar (Roschdy Zem), who suggests that he can make big money fast by smuggling drugs. With nothing better to do, Benoit goes into business with Omar, and with his ill-gotten gains, he travels to Italy, where he meets a beautiful young woman named Claudia (Chiara Mastroianni). Benoit and Claudia quickly fall in love, but the lure of the drug market soon proves more powerful than Benoit's feelings for his girlfriend. Director and star Xavier Beauvois won the Jury Prize at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival for his work on this film. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi Hi brainsnakes, Thank you for the reminder. Each of us lives to die. - LimA
  9. Hi from Jeff

Hi Jeff, Thank you for coming across as very human. My apology for the tough question. We are on the same page when it comes to problems. They are potential platforms/springboards for more "meaning of life". Nestled in problems are latent lessons and knowledge. Challenges spur us on to find more "meaning of life"? No confession needed - when one human crosses path honestly with another. - LimA
  10. Hi from Jeff

Hi Jeff, As a writer - are you a wordsmith, truth seeker, business researcher or...? I am not critical as a person. But as seeker/researcher I like to embrace critical realism as a philosophy. I joined TDB in March last year. At the start, I wanted to read the Dao De Jing (DDJ) to have myself better placed as an intended Taoist - philosophically. But to-date I have yet to read any DDJ translation in English. Why? I am a third generation overseas Chinese who cannot read Mandarin text. As a critical realist, I am concerned about loss in translation. So? I choose to be a nobody - like an apple tree growing well in Nature underlined by the DDJ. But I am more than such a tree - I like to explore/exploit experientially. And I also like to share experiential learning/knowing with trusted friends. Why? Each road less traveled is different. Best wishes to you as a publisher. - LimA
  11. lot of tears?

Hi dawei, Through blood, sweat and tears the jagged edges of the foundational rocks of our lives are smoothed/polished to give a new shine? Life is a song. Sing it to let go of emotions to still/tame the heart? Breaking one's heart is a part of making up anew - break/make through creative destruction? Emotions are unbridled - so is life at large. 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' has no relevance to life at large? Why is there a need to 'break a horse'? When... A river => rapids => crash among rocks => going its course - order amongst chaos? Live life well as the river of life has no return - https://youtu.be/QCbECNhSPII Life must be imagined for the lubrication of ideas to flow like a river? In every ONE moment, life has two sides. ONE => two is a gifted journey. Why? We are given options to choose - https://youtu.be/2LopZoqOKPs Tears - welcome to TDB. - LimA

Hi Kinzard, Good for you. I am not connecting any dots anymore, Silence. - LimA
  14. Exploring all paths as one

Hi Kinzard, It is not for me to (dis)believe you. Why? You are good with words and I am just trying to follow your writing by joining the dots. An interesting lifespan perspective. Are you still with your guru? - LimA
  15. Exploring all paths as one

Hi Kinzard, Isn't 10-11 months too short a time frame per what you are trying to put across? How old are you? Playing? - LimA
  16. Greetings

Hi WuTien, Phew! But spot on (33.3%). I am touched by your veneration of ancestors - remembering your roots (25% and the other 75%). A first chakra observance? A very Happy Lunar New Year to you and all other oink oink's (yin/yang/wood/water/fire/metal/earth): You are not a MCP. - LimA
  17. My Path (So Far)

Hi Geoff, Profound. You are your own man. My take - you will get along fine on your own road less traveled. There is always up/down on your chosen path - that is life. - LimA
  18. My Path (So Far)

Hi Geoff, I cannot figure out what the above meant. But please do not expand on it further. Have you ever thought what the chakras/dantiens are all about; and how you can/have relate(d) to them? - LimA
  19. Greetings

Hi WuTien, I use MCP as a joke amongst friends. I realized now that it is a lapse on my part to use it on you as our paths have just crossed. MCP = male chauvinist pig. If it appears derogatory to you, my apology. As a 25% Chinese, do you celebrate the coming Lunar New Year which falls on 16 February 2018 - The Year of the Dog? Pearl of wisdom. - LimA
  20. Greetings

Hi Dada-da, I agree - WuTien is no greenhorn. Wow - depth with few words. A lot of knowledge but with 'no use for words'? This calls for discipline - perhaps some fluidity in WuTien's case. I wonder about his other three quarters - an assortment of other royal genes? Will you agree with me that his Grandpa's yang jing is infertile without Grandma's yin jing? He can keep on examining Grandpa's jing under the microscope. But such an examination is futile if the cow does not come home. Is WuTien a MCP? - LimA
  21. My Path (So Far)

Hi Geoff, Have noted that you are exploratory. I started my journey online too. But after some inspection and introspection, I develop an inner voice through experiential learning. Then I find my own path - a road less traveled. Still finding - but now much less journeying online. Interesting - like to expand? - LimA
  22. My Path (So Far)

Hi Geoff, Personally I am not much into physical Qi Gong but there are other chi movements besides its external possibilities. To me, underlying all Qi Gong practices is more importantly the mind. It is mind over body. Are you already into some internal pathways of chi? If not, are you considering them? Welcome to TDB. - LimA

  24. Is enlightenment really desirable?

Hi Steve, I did a formal research on knowledge management a few years ago and these are my take: - knowledge has been associated with power. - this association is more skewed to closeted mindsets. - the more I know, the more I realize how little I know. - knowledge has a shelf life. - it is dynamic and not static; thus lifelong learning. - empty vessels know the loudest. - true knowledge lies in silence. - this silence is rooted in humility. I also researched a little on knowledge sharing and these two factors are important - autonomy and trust. Thus of late I am more inclined to share with true seekers through PM - with freedom. Humor is great when it comes to knowledge sharing. A route to enlightenment - whatever it is? - Anand
