  1. The necessity of thought.

Good morning Apech, If my thought just surfaces ~ I think it is not necessary for me to work out why a thought is necessary or not necessary. It is close to breakfast time at my end and it is necessary for me to grab a grub. - Anand
  2. The necessity of thought.

Then how do I tackle the ~ necessity of thought... in relation to content and context (II)?

  4. The AWESOME PARAGRAPH! thread.

Hi Barbara, Page 252 or page 253? By questioning thus ~ I am not being critical. Why? I just want to stress these ~ (a) The awesomeness of the paragraph in question. (b) By sharing my perceptual pictures/gif/... of it ~ I have internalized the paragraph. Because of (a) and (b) ~ I am sensitive to the difference... 252 and 253. A great weekend. - Anand
  5. Am I who you think I am?

Hi Ganapati, My Guru-ji is from India and I am sure that he will embrace your every word better than myself. But I can follow forward on individuation... it is important for me to know/understand/love/improve... myself as an individual... continuously. On an absolute scale ~ I know that I am far from nothing. But on a relative scale (such as relative to most Bums at TDB) I may be a nobody... and I am not disturbed thus. Upon waking up every morning ~ I can feel my energy to take on life anew. As shared previously ~ 'no-body' is not a standalone notion. It stands shoulder-to-shoulder with 'every-body', 'some-body' and 'any-body'... even re my-self. Nothingness/nobodyness/... are not 'no-ism' per sec. Emptiness is not empty per sec... feel it... If I am to tell Guru-ji that he is half-baked ~ I am certain that he will laugh at his naughty child and not cook him 100% in boiling water. Why? I know he 🧑 me. It is the first time that someone has sent me πŸ’šat TDB. Thank you. I would like to share it with no-/some-/any-/every-body at TDB thus ~ A great weekend. - Anand

Hi Creighton, Nothing odd ~ I just like the... comment about the quote... in the right and... irrelevant emotive context. - Anand
  7. Am I who you think I am?

    Yes ~ but I am some-body's fool...
  8. The AWESOME PARAGRAPH! thread.

Hi Creighton, I have copied this from the John Blofeld and Tseng Lao-weng thread ~ John Blofeld wrote the following account of his meeting with Tseng Lao-weng and I'm deeply grateful he did, its resonance, when I first encountered it struck me like lightning on a clear day, like silent thunder it rattled through me with an acute resonant echoing awareness... the words, (or rather, what the words pointed to), shattered through the mundane sleeping life trance into potent shining wakeful awareness and unfolded me into the present moment with a fierce yet gentle familiarity. This was like finding home, without knowing I had been away from it... or rather realizing I was always home, but in my sleeping trance, awareness of it had been occluded in fog. Lost my awareness of the forest while amidst all the trees... The meeting occured sometime between 1937 and 1949 when Blofeld, then a citizen of China traveled extensively to remote monestaries and retreats, seeking out renowned Daoist Sages, Buddhist Masters and Mongolian Lamas. The sense of the words settling in awareness was akin to stumbling upon a previously unknown meadow in the valley of my innermost self and finding, that although I'd never recalled having been there before, it was my original home... utterly familiar and reflected my most authentic experience and the sum total of my path. - Anand
  9. Am I who you think I am?

Hi Kubba, Thank you for sharing your thoughts. When 'every-body' is a 'no-body' ~ the reverse is 'no-body' can be 'every-body'. When I think light has no color ~ it is actually a continuum of seven. So can 'no-body' and 'every-body' be thought of as a continuum like the rainbow...? If so ~ within the continuum lies 'some-body'? For that matter ~ there is also 'any-body'? Please revert. - Anand
  10. The AWESOME PARAGRAPH! thread.

Hi Barbara, I hope that it is alright with you that I took the liberty of adding my pictorial/gif/... perceptions to your above two sharing. I am solely responsible for my perceptions... but if there are any objections from TDB... I will stop. From time to time ~ I may do likewise to some sharing from other Bums I am well acquainted with... through time and tide... barring no objections. - Anand
  11. The AWESOME PARAGRAPH! thread.

    ... no-mind.
  12. Am I who you think I am?

    Every-body is a no-body... my-self included. PERIOD.
  13. Am I who you think I am?

... so I cannot keep on thinking who you are?

  15. The AWESOME PARAGRAPH! thread.

Hi Barbara, Clarifying => clarity => clear day = >... The italicized words were the ones that jumped out at me. First, this sentence: Luckily, you have been realized by me. What a casual way of putting that which is virtually the sum of one's life's work into a simple thought. Luckily, you have been realized by me. Those words are everything. Those are the words of the god-consciousness, the I AM, - and so many different words for the same thing in so many different religions. It, the consciousness, is speaking to us from within. It is saying it is ecstatic that you have finally made considerable progress through your own ego, seeing it as the reckless driver it has always been. You can glimpse the true light, right there through that haze. The truth dwells in you while you are in concert with it's consciousness. It is ecstatic that you are forever changed and finally seeing from a balanced place of clarity. You have found love. - Anand
  16. Fragile Equanimity

Hi freeform, Better still if Qi can be transformed to Shen... and vice versa? Don't forget about Jing. - Anand
  17. Fragile Equanimity

Hi Hypoape, Not only for a master ~ but for you also. Why? In between your words ~ there is equanimity. For your best friend... - Anand (P.S. Are you a hypnotized ape? No offence ~ just curious.)
  18. Am I who you think I am?

Good morning Iskote, Reality lies in sunrise and sunset... and in between...? If yes ~ where are we? Actually/reasonably/stably/... anchored to reality? - Anand
  19. The necessity of thought.

Hi Cleansox, No hammer needed. A kind soul had hidden the "Yoga dancing has no music" gif for me. Thank you kind soul. - Anand

  22. The necessity of thought.

Hi Apech, I am not deep into complex philosophy as "shared". I live an everyday simple experiential life and my mental models pertain to pictorial depictions of key variables re context and content. Linked to experiences in life/living ~ my mental models may have their variables tweaked when deem fit. Nothing is permanent. Hi Cleansox, Nothing is permanent/perfect/... ~ thus experiential lifelong learning. When faced with trying situations/parameters/... ~ I may reach out for a wu-wei mental model re my understanding of the Taoist philosophy which can be different from others. My wu-wei models are more intuitive than cognitive. For me ~ right decisions overwrite faster decisions... despite uncertainties. - Anand
  23. The necessity of thought.

Hi EmeraldHead, I am not on any of the chosen/trained/... paths like some on this thread. But I'm trained in general philosophy and I share as a man in the street. Your above statement caught my attention as a researcher re mental models. A mental model is an explanation of someone's thought process about how something works in the real world. It is a representation of the surrounding world, the relationships between its various parts and a person's intuitive perception about his or her own acts and their consequences. Mental models can help shape behavior and set an approach to solving problems (similar to a personal algorithm) and doing tasks. Jay Wright Forrester defined general mental models as: The image of the world around us, which we carry in our head, is just a model. Nobody in his head imagines all the world, government or country. He has only selected concepts, and relationships between them, and uses those to represent the real system." (Wikipedia) I am inclined to think that the 15 seconds temporal lapse can perhaps be linked to one's mental model being activated ~ when confronted with data/information/... I especially like a mental model ~ likened to a personal algorithm when faced with big data. - Anand
  24. The necessity of thought.

I did not join TDB to convinced anybody about anything... but to share. There is no necessity for me to do that.
