Hi Wu Ming Jen, Yinny and myself had discussed the following in day-light. We dared not venture beyond sunset as we were unsure if the night light (w)could make monkeys out of us. Lines (1) to (4) were pretty straight forward for us. At Line (4) we positioned ourselves as Yinny (right) and LimA (left) - just before we went home separately just after 6 pm. The next day we discussed Line (5) in various field quite comfortably - until we touched on biology followed by sexology. At this juncture we could feel tensions rising - with me rising unsightly/embarrassingly. Despite our incessant checks on our watches - we were still discoursing at 9 pm. Suddenly Yinny stood up and said she had to leave as she had pre-set her oven. I said - "What the... " - and headed for the bar. Just before midnight Yinny WhatsApp-ed me and said she could not see me for a while. I asked why - and she sent me this through WhatsApp: I called to her to discuss her above picture verbatim and she hang up on me. Instead she sent me these through WTF. I was hyperventilating when I reminded Yinny that we had yet to discuss Line (6). She said - "we will discuss it long distance". Peace dawned on me when I realized that Yinny was not cutting me off. These pertained to our long distance dialogue re Line (6): Apart from the above Yinny simply loved this: She kept on asking me to explain the above first two lines. I did so happily... and repeatedly. At the end I was dead beat and I suggested a demonstration - and she shyly said no. We were on long distance for the longest time... Today Yinny has accepted my invitation to go for a short holiday this weekend to discuss Line (6) further. I am over the moon - we are graduating from light moves to night moves. - LimA

Hi rene, As a budding Taoist I am touched by these: Your loyalty/faithfulness/allegiance/devotion/fidelity/honesty/obedience/patriotism/tie/support... to Lao Tzu and Taoism (I visited the Thesaurus Park near my home last weekend). My apology - I am not schooled in Tao Te Ching. Please excuse my blindness, ignorance, cheekiness... At home I am nicknamed The Monkey. I am not motivated to read TTC because dawei said: "Squares and corners spoken are not the eternalness [of squares and corners]". So for the posterity of the TTC, it is better that I do not read it. Why? I am big-mouthed and I speak unnecessarily. After reading the TTC, it will be my spoken TTC and it will become terminal because - "TTC spoken is not the eternalness of TTC". In a slanted way I too care about the goodness of Lao Tzu and Taoism. You refrain from being astonished as this thread is seeded by Lost in Translation. Hi Jeff, When I was younger, I embraced these happily when I first time saw them - (a) I saw the light (b) Aha (c) I see (d) OMG (e) It blows my mind (a) to (e) moments pertain to - realizations and pleasure at suddenly (i) solving a problem (ii) understanding a joke (iii) learning a truth... But when I started to embrace Taoism and Buddhism as philosophies, (a) to (e) turn into my own set of figuring things out - sometimes through very difficult periods of living. I began to search inward... towards consciousness. Perhaps "light" can be linked to Consciousness... but I am not going to define it. Why?
