I really believe it still does, but can understand it is perhaps a little bit frustrated of not being able to do things. It has to be patient for just a little bit longer

Well... I will put that sentence I quoted above here again The khvarenah is the archetype of the person one can grow to if allowed to grow to the limit of her or his capacity in grace, that is, in keeping with the fravashi and thereby in keeping with Divine purpose. Let's assume that Crowley talked about this fravashi component somewhere as well. So do you see demon? God created other laws that pushes the creation as a whole towards that which he intended. But people needn't really be concerned with that. They should be concerned with their 'true will'. Perhaps this is the 'Do what thou willt shall be the only law' (that you need to know) And because you worry so much about why god doesn't intervene, perhaps this sentence can put you at ease a little bit The fravashi can be thought of as the hand of God in all of creation, or perhaps, the means by which God's plan resides in all of creation. Since God's law and plan are in every part and particle of creation from the very beginning, there is no need for God to intervene in the evolution of creation from time to time. No?

Gotta say, pretty impressive, thanks. And this generates some thoughts. More frustration instead of anger, but yes, my astrology also strongly indicates wood element and liver being the weakest. For the misaligned vertebrae. Well they did establish some mild scoliosis as a child. And for me this indicates that this is perhaps something deeper, perhaps karmic. You think it originated from the kidneys? In any case, no grief that I know of. But combined with my relatively intense training the past years, I can understand how that misalignment messed with my system. Relationship issues, sure, lack of relationships. That will probably be a problem, but also curious if it's THE problem.

Cool! Aside from that experiment this was a line that caught my eye The khvarenah is the archetype of the person one can grow to if allowed to grow to the limit of her or his capacity in grace, that is, in keeping with the fravashi and thereby in keeping with Divine purpose. And this makes me think about the 'true will' of people like Trump, Putin, Hitler, ... Think we can say for sure that these personalities more or less believe they are carrying out their 'true will'. Much more so then others. So would that be the case? Can we even imagine a world without these figures? Would that be better, or would we be stuck somewhere in the evolution of mankind? Or perhaps we can at least say they are carrying out some distorted version of their 'true will' Or other things, beings that take advantage of people with a particular type of 'true will'.

Not to many people having bad sleep here it seems ... But I had some new ideas yesterday. Or rather, I'am finally able to look in a certain direction I was not willing to look in (to be fair to myself, also because of some outer influences, which perhaps cannot be blamed at the same time). I might have to focus a bit (a lot) more on the pure physical aspect of the practice. I used to do a little bit of everything. Body training, neigong, qigong, breathing, meditation. More or less balanced all these aspects. Don't think that is necessarily bad. But in my case it might be. Because of lot's of body tension esp in the back. I have had injuries and still have. Can't even do any seated practices, neigong, qigong right now. To much tension in back puts more pressure to the front. So my abdominal muscles get sprained. As soon as my breathing lengthens, I can feel that. Plus had some other problems in the head also. Interestingly enough, I can still do pure body training without breath work. Even the daoist yoga which is very heavy on the abdominals, but purely focusing on the body aspect, again without the breath work. So for me this is what I will focus on for a while. Basic physical exercises, the foundation, the jibengong. Plus the daoist yoga. And then slowly add in the other stuff.

Same for me. Currently injured in fact. But that's just because my body is not strong/relaxed enough to hold my breath. But based on my experience (although still fairly limited) with the breathing techniques I was somewhat lucky to have acquired, seems like it can be quite a simple way to get the job done. Gotta explore more, just need to make the body strong and relaxed enough first. Still, will have a look at that exercise you posted, thanks!

I was lucky with my parents. So that should be good. (although I'm curious how we would proceed if that wouldn't be the case). You seem to refer to a post where you explicitly compare these concepts. Didn't find that. But did read some of your posts. Seems like it's kinda the idea of finding and living according to your destiny/calling something something. The Khvarenah seems to be more or less the same thing and involved in the formation of some guardian angel like thing.

Another thought to add: Sometimes it is simply the case that certain other metaphysics systems are better suited to answering certain questions. For example, question you asked just now: what career should I choose, is probably a question that better fits astrology. Although I Ching can still give you certain useful information regarding the topic of course.
-
An important question to ask, and I have to admit that I too should probably spend some more time thinking, studying this. The way you specify your question is very important and determines the answer the YiJing gives you. Different techniques allow you to reveal different kind of information about the question of concern. When one moves on to the Liu Yao aspect of YiJing, this becomes very clear. The second book of Alfred Kee goes in depth into this subject. To see what I mean you can check the preview of the book on google books. The first chapter (fully available) introduces 5 different question asking techniques and later chapters show technical details of interpretation with Liu Yao.

So the purification and opening of the 3 centers? I've been going at this myself for a few years. Still have ways to go. I assume there are several ways to go at this and breathing methods is one of them

@Casy If you are still here Besides all this rambling all over the place, I think this is nice place. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with being inspired by the idea of becoming a mystic, with all the mystical qualities he/she embodies. Even the stuff like the occult powers. Perhaps, this child like curiosity of dreaming and looking upwards is, at least for some of us, something that can strongly push us forward and make us evolve. That is how it is for me at least. And another thing, although I am perhaps to green to fully understand this... Whatever weird stuff you might be practicing, never forget the basics!

By now Casey has left the forums. He no longer wants to become a mystic. Good work guys!
-
No need! I'll just stack those books you left behind and climb out. Enough to escape from the depths of hell all the way up to heaven. Wait a minute ... Books! So that's how they work!

Nice podcast. And I like how you emphasized the fact that you don't necessarily have to use all the rules of that system. In fact also was a nice reminder to myself as a beginner learning it.

Most people know about the Yijing book with a text for each hexagram and each separate line. Using only that is good to get familiar with the Yijing, but it goes much deeper than this. If you only use/know this you haven't fully entered the door of Yijing study. 2 other known methods are Liu Yao (also called Wen Wang Gua) and Plum blossom divination. Plum blossom divination uses the environment to generate the hexagram and there is always exactly one changing line. It's a very intuitive method. But I haven't studied that method and I want to talk here about Liu Yao. Liu Yao (Wen Wang Gua) Liu Yao is a more analytical method of interpreting the Yijing. Each line is assigned one of the 12 earthly branches (the 12 chinese zodiac signs). Interpretation of the casting is mainly done by looking at the relationships between these earthly branches, but also some other stuff such as the 6 mythical animals and the chinese calendar(which also uses the earthly branches as you may know). Chinese calendar which also uses the earthly branches (and heavenly stems) to indicate the energies of that moment is also used in the interpretation. The chart for one casting looks like this: This opens up a whole new level of Yijing study and there is much less room for the subjective interpretation of the interpreter, which is a huge limitation of using the classicial Yijing text for interpretation. This method is slowly becoming more familiar in the west. In the past years, a few good books and some websites have been released that make it possible to get acquainted with and use this method relatively easy, although it still requires a little bit of study. Some books and websites: Website that can be used to assign branches and animals to a hexagram: https://www.bright-hall.net/wwg/ Jack Chiu's book http://www.acmc.com.hk/Book011.aspx 2 Books from Alfred Kee (these 2 are probably the best place to start right now, that is if you really want to go in depth. Second book shows some more advanced techniques) https://www.amazon.com/When-Ching-Has-Text-Divination/dp/9671938701/ https://www.amazon.com/Grasping-Changes-Ching-Eight-Secrets/dp/9671938736/ Book from Vincent Koh (a little less in depth on Liu Yao but also talks about plum blossom divination and other things, can perhaps be good if you only want some basic familiarity with this method) https://www.sgbookshelf.com/product-page/i-ching-wisdom-revealed I recently started studying this method myself and I think it is a great way to advance your Yijing study. Would be cool if we can discuss this technique on this forum as well.

Well, if there are practices related to the discovery of this thing, then I'm just a little curious how that might go. But I understand what you mean demon, and you are probably right in a way, at least in my case ...

Okay guys, So what do I have to do to see my own personal 'true' will?

You making fun of us? Nothing wrong with being a bunch of crabs! And no solitary escape attempts! We will pull you back in the bucket with the rest of us!

Every time you realize your spiritual pretensions are all bullshit and that you are really just like everyone else, you go back to square one, and start over. Eventually you go back to square one and recognize it for the first time. Home. No need for books, nothing to read. Then beginner's mind can operate. We become three years old again. We laugh a lot, and dream of animals.

reading results for : what is my current understanding level of i-ching ? and how to improve it ?
mcoolio replied to waterdrop's topic in Yijing
In general 1st line changing indicates something which has yet to happen 6th line changing indicates something which has passed already So for 23.6 it indicates the end of the decline. I can see the confusion with 23 being about this last yang being overcome by 5 yin and this last yang changing to yin so it seems as if it's not good. But I think it's wrong to see it this way and the description of line 6 reflects this pretty clearly I would say. It is a rather positive line. I would not say 2 carries the idea of 'fixed'. It can be an hexagram of doing. Of putting into action the ideas that have been lingering in your head (learning i ching). So I think personally think i ching is telling you it's safe to give it another go. -

23 is darkness or rather, nearing the darkness. But 6th line changing can mean the end of a situation, so this can mean the end of a dark period perhaps? The end of a cycle? Perhaps the end of a period of being stuck in your studies, where you were searching but not finding the next step. 2 can be the fertile soil which is waiting to receive the seeds. So this can indicate your readiness and receptivity for reengaging your I Ching studies again? It also indicates the idea of being open, receptive. 23 also carries the idea of dropping old useless ideas to make place for new ones and of course, this works good together with the 2 in this case. I once heard someone say, you may think you know I Ching, but then it opens up again and you can keep going deeper and deeper. So it doesn't really matter what your level is. The practitioner just keeps going. So my interpretation is that you have been feeling a little bit stuck in your I Ching studies, but you are ready to reengage your studies. It may be good to put aside the I Ching material you have been studying up to this point. And to be open to new suggestions. This interpretation seems to align with your post... -
This 'wanting to become' will be left behind eventually, and the practitioner keeps on practicing.

Some responses... I don't think the path is only for the solitary. I would even like to think that - for most of us at least - the more you are aligned with the path, the more you engage fully in relationship with the other. And for some of us, perhaps, this also means establishing relationship with the teacher (and the other students). If the individual starts his journey along the path, is it wrong that the initial impulse was the wanting to become a 'mystic'?

Yup, still relatively cold, but no longer bothered by that cold and seemed as if blood was still circulating correctly everywhere. But this extreme cold resistance didn't last long, 2 weeks or so. Nowadays it comes and goes depending on how my training is going, never as extreme as then though.

May I have access? Thanks!
