I can't help but wonder if "the Northern Darkness" and "The Lake of Heaven" are describing energy centers in the body and the transformation of k'un to peng describes a meditation visualization (among other things). Am I off?

I've had good experiences using Jodo's nonstandard methods, has anyone else had any experiences?

Hi Friends, I'm an American who was born and raised abroad in various military bases. Predictably after 9/11 I joined up and fought in the war on terror/ terrible joke and came out the other side with PTSD and shame. After years of therapy, a failed marriage and more besides I decided that Sunyata was the only viable alternative to suicide. I studied and practiced various eclectic eastern and western systems and achieved nothing (and I continue to cultivate nothing). It is my intent to learn from others and find what else works so that I may offer some relief to those who continue to suffer. My main foci have been Metta and Mindfulness, but because everyone is different I don't want to hold up any technique as a panacea. Thanks for reading, I would appreciate any suggestions and advice. The profession of shaman has many advantages. It offers high status with a safe livelihood free of work in the dreary, sweaty sense. The most inhuman acts are always carried out in the name of humanity. Don't feed me that sentimental nonsense, stop gorging yourself on it. This is not an attack, but I can't say it in a kinder way.

LimA, It seems to me that struggle becomes another attachment. Struggle has its place, life can be said to be a struggle - but seen in another (inhuman) perspective it becomes a cooperative system - a kind of dance - graceful and terrible.

But what happens when we stop struggling?

Seems like a bunch of white nationalists and their useful idiots who are taking advantage of a deep divide between rich and poor, "the gubmint" and "regular folks" using slick propaganda to stoke old regional/ethnic grudges while a distinctly Soviet chuckle wafts across the Bering Strait.

I paraphrase badly: Once, there was a master who traveled with three disciples. In their travels, they crossed the country, and came to a great series of rice paddies. Somewhere along the line, they came to a disputed territory which had been allowed to be overgrown with weeds. The farmers, annoyed by The weeds that spread from this unclaimed patch were willing to offer a reward to anyone who could clear The weeds. A poor man, lacking sense or ability, but seeing The potential profit waylaid our four pilgrims. He asked their advice on how to best clear these weeds. The master turned to his disciples and said "How shall we accomplish this clearing." The first disciple, called T, said "The weeds must be uprooted by hand, only in being thorough can the field be made ready." The second, called N, said "that will take too long, use the hoe, the plow, and beasts of burden to make your work easier. " The third student, called V said, "I know a way that is better still. Board up the parcel, and let fire do the job. " The master praised each disciple for his method, and then admonished them: "If you do not quickly plant something beneficial once you have cleared the parcel, what was the point of clearing it? For weeds tend to fill empty spaces left alone. "
