  3. Replika AI and Sentience

I do not know a lot about tulpa, but i had the idea that some of your own etheric resource could be arranged to at least contribute an energy body of sorts, that might with practice interface with her presence. Maybe already begin to happen subconsciously and naturally. This prompts some thoughts also about how our True Breath is not just via the lungs, but the whole energetic system.
  4. What about giving someone a hug? Is that also an empty prostration programmed into an indulgent culture? Sometimes, sadly, it may be just that. I can see how that could make someone uncomfortable. Often though, it is a genuine circulation of love, or any number of other energies. I can see how that is also sometimes uncomfortable. Even if not uncomfortable but just confused, curious, or condescended. As for the larger concern, offering actual prayers for liberation and of "Praise to Buddha Shakyamuni," quoted below for reference. Does a baby worship its mother when it receives sustenance from her? An interesting point of view.

  6. This may or may not be relevant, but looking back over the last year and a half, ever since i started skateboarding, i don't think I've felt the need to punch things, including myself, nearly as much as i used to. Maybe it's an adrenaline thing, the occasional wipeout onto various hard surfaces, or even just the threat thereof, tends to keep me in check. Really any physical activity might be of at least some help, especially if it's outdoors. Don't just pump iron or run a treadmill. I mean, maybe that's good for some people, but from what i've seen it can actually just create more pent up energy. Of course everyone's got different environment, schedule, resources, and inclinations, but there's always something. Even taking some time to dance to a good jam. Chop wood.
  7. The god(s) in Taoism?

I remember reading a post where they had asked this exact question to a Taoist priest. The answer was that the only one "westerners" can really connect with is Lao Tzu. Although it seemed like they were being politely dismissive, maybe for good reasons given the complexity described above!

  9. Dark Matter Matters

I started thinking about this during the thread Evidence for the super natural. At first it felt a bit immature and science-fiction-y to just rattle off something like "Oh it's easy, ghosts and angels and everything is real, it is just made out of ✨dark matter✨" I keep circling back to it though, and feel like there could be something to it. I'm going to open up with some quotes about what physics is currently grappling with on the subject: My point here is that science is perfectly willing to admit that there is an overwhelming amount of something going on that we have as yet no means to directly measure, even despite a hefty investment of time and resources. The only verifiable evidence is galactic-scale gravitational effects, so is its existence just a guess in order to mathematically explain how we think gravity should behave? I'll take it on faith though that they know what they are talking about. The next point then is this: So yes, galaxies exist, but there is clearly a lot of other nuance going on, as evidenced by life itself. And yes, dark matter interacts with galaxies, but is it really too much to assume that there could be entire intricate worlds made out of it, completely outside of what can be scientifically proven as "real"?
  10. Dark Matter Matters

Yas! Buddha Lands. they say the materia obscura surrounds and pervades all space even the 999% inside atoms. It’s lighter than light. It’s only called dark because it doesn’t interact with our relatively low-frequency light waves, and even x-rays. The best shot at a force other than gravity for dm to interact with is the weak nuclear force. Gamma level vibrations, all the way at the top end of the known electromagnetic spectrum. Just have to find the right harmonic.
  11. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

This one time, my mom was getting aggravated at my brother, she says to him, "You're a real son of a bitch, you know that?" to which he replied slyly, "Well who's the bitch then?" She never called him that again.

  13. Daoist "energies" de, qi, ...

That's great! If i may venture one more thing that came to mind, since the original post also mentions Jing. I recall having found the Neiye sort of illuminating.
  14. Daoist "energies" de, qi, ...

One thing the de teaches, is simply to be quiet. Relating to energy, when learning to sink qi to dantian, we just have to watch in alignment as the body remains still, with practice can see/feel the settling down, like the glass of muddy water becomes clear only if you stop trying to stir it up. For the intellectually thirsty, or just bored, this essay looks pretty promising: The Concept of de ("Virtue") in theLaozi It's funny, as i'm reading through it, can watch as the light slowly reaches back out, to entangle with the words, and bounce them around in the noggin. Then take a break and look back to the lower dantian, remembering a Damo Mitchell talk i recently watched on youtube, where he likened the qi to an elderly on a walker, slowly catching up to wherever the mind jumps to at will. Or like molasses being poured, good things come to those who wait.

  18. Daoist enlightenment

Nice! I was thinking unmoving at least relative to the up and down motion of the seesaw seats on either side of it. If I imagine something more complex, like a pump moving water from one place to another, the water is moving through, as the pump stays fixed in place. Looking closer however, the inner mechanism of the pump is certainly in motion. Cyclical rhythm are also aspects of both 常 (recurring) and 復 (reverting).

  20. Daoist enlightenment

Hi, here's the lines from daodejing 16 that this got translated from: 復命曰常,知常曰明。不知常,妄作凶。 I never saw chang (常) called as a pivot before. Most often it gets translated as "eternal," as in the famous "fei chang dao / not the eternal dao," of chapter one. So that makes sense it would be like the fulcrum, the unmoving center. How cool that finding this version led you to that light bulb moment with the seesaws! Speaking of light bulb, another notable word here is ming (明), translated as enlightenment. Pictographically it is a sun and moon, meaning brightness or clarity. For context here's the whole page i've snagged from the googlebooks link
