  1. Translation please

Okay! The OCR got around %75 accuracy. Not bad considering the print is smudged in places. I filled in the missing pieces and horizontalized it all to come up with the completed version. It describes treating different kinds of chapped skin, rashes and bites.
  2. Immortality?

Liberation from the death sentence of material existence is but one aspect of becoming a "xian" I've got stashed in my journal some reflections on the word itself:
  3. Translation please

Nice! The main part should read along columns from top to bottom, starting on the right. The smaller text on the left is instructions that I think says "Rub on once a day. If rubbing is difficult water and apply cloth"
  4. Translation please

LOL wait a minute! Reading from right-to-left, it says: 林弼臣 萬應濕毒藥膏 Lin Yichen's Wanyingshi Poison Ointment. It's an anti itch/antibacterial ointment. @MegaMind, is that from an OCR program? It's quite a bit jumbled, but can kind of make out some of the gist.
  5. Translation please

I almost got the hang of the dictionary. The second line down says 膏藥毒濕應萬, "paste-medicine drug dampness should million." Not sure what that's all about. Some kind of moisturizing ointment?

Sounds so easy! My guess is nobody really takes it to the extent needed to actually break through. I'm not saying I have. Here's a few variations I've encountered in others over the years. A. Doesn't believe it's even possible, or just has no desire to, so never tries. B. Tries it a while, decides it doesn't work, constantly looks for the next magic bullet, or dismisses it altogether. C. Practices decently, but does not realize they're still too entrenched in work, hobbies, junk food, etc., that's counteracting the deeper progress. Benefits from enhanced clarity, but not going to shout about it from the rooftops. D. Takes psychedelic drugs and happily pretends they're doing mystical things. Keeps Joe Rogan in business. E. Makes genuine progress, but is guided by wisdom to keep relatively quiet about it. F. Has lots and lots to say about it. Gets put on anti-psychotics.

  14. Some more advice needed on practice

Wors I hope for your sake that you do not meet any actual immortals any time soon. You could be setting yourself up for an extremely harsh ride. I will not make assumptions about your practice, but your lack of humility is telling.

That's got a nice ring to it! I did dig up somewhere that his given name is Damien, for what its worth. Who am I to say that he's not the the Bodhidharma reincarnated? I respect what he is and does, but can relate to something seeming just oddball. He likes to tout having been trained in martial arts since age four. While an academic treasure, I think this also degrades a certain aspect of perceived authenticity, never having gotten the true benefits of having his ass handed to him by life like most of us.

Crystal rainbow pizza psychics are one thing, but what about these guys? I'm sure it's come up before so please spare the accusations that they're just playing pretend, or brainwashing each other, or doing minute balance tricks. The pure lack of "spectacularness" in this video speaks volumes. If we refuse to trust the presenters then the argument begins and ends there and we can save ourselves the trouble. So what could a scientist even contribute to this demonstration? Hook up some sensor or other to the people and try to find a measurable parameter that changes relative to certain actions? Subject everyone to polygraphed interviews? Record in infrared or other subspectra? What would any of it really achieve? Only to confirm that yes, something is in fact taking place. But if that's not already plainly apparent, then I think we're just being skeptical for skepticism's sake, rather than having a genuine interest in actually learning from these people.
  19. Damaged lower dantian

Yee-ouch! I have no idea either, but with any luck it sounds like just treat it as any other sprain/strain and take it easy for a while, feeling your way through it, as with those issues in the past, and learn more by just watching the natural healing instinct. I mean, needless to say if you really get some stabbing, shooting feeling, like an internal bleeding or something, there's no shame in getting checked out at the ER! Even if you don't have insurance most places willing to at least work with you. But it sounds kinda similar to some contortions i've put myself through to a lesser extent in the past. Even mundane injuries have a way of radiating pain differently, the more sensitive you become. Just don't panic or be too hard on yourself over it!

And just when I thought it was safe to go to bed! First I'll do just enough googling to get the visions of Khu Kebabs dancing in my head.
