What are qi channels/meridians made out of?
Nintendao replied to yuuichi's topic in Daoist Discussion
Nota bene, the word jing 经 used in the context of meridians literally means warp (as in weaving, not startrek), i.e. the longitudinal threads that provide the structured course for the weft. It is a different homophone of the word jing 精 usually seen meaning vital essences. -
Disappearing penis is just the beginning. Eventually most all the body stops. Besides, boning each other is kids stuff. In heaven there are way more intense things. When entire universe is one's own womb, then previous posts is still on topic. Don't worry though! The effect can be reverted if desired. It is only something I've read about, but supposedly it happened to some advanced meditator that still wanted to have children after all, and everything worked out fine.

"Sit down and shut up," always sounded legit enough to me. Sometimes opening to the belly need not be anything further than taking a second to make sure all the various parts of the torso relax enough to not constrict breath and blood flows and so forth.

Perhaps a strictly prenatal incarnation is a particularly potent form of life lesson, of ultimate pure potential yet utterly unfulfillable. It feels tragic from our mortal perspective, but I can only hope there's some reconciliation to be viewed from a more causal realm. An immortal soul might long to experience an undiluted form of only the most fundamental human animating forces. There's something strangely wholesome about never even getting the opportunity to engage in selfish behavior, even truly innocent motives of an infant such as hunger or security. I have a hunch that in the unfolding of a more run-of-the-mill lifetime, missed experiences will show up again later, with varying intensity, until eventually it hits like a ton of bricks. There's both good and bad aspects to it, but probably the best bet would have been to not cling or resist too rigidly any one ideal or other. Not necessarily an easy feat! I get really tripped up thinking about karma, not wanting to limit it to a Newtonian cause-and-effect scenario. Same with reincarnation, since lower-dimensional delineations like self vs other and before vs after keep getting in the way.

A monk visited a hermit, who lived alone on an island doing retreat. The hermit had given himself three years to complete chanting ten million of the powerful six-syllable mantra of the Compassionate Buddha. The hermit had been told that attaining this level of practice would awaken his yogic powers. The mantra was "OM MANI PADME HUM" The monk listened as the hermit did his mantra and, with the best intention in the world, leaned over to him and whispered: "I think you have got the pronunciation wrong. This mantra should be chanted this way..." and he proceeded to demonstrate. The hermit listened attentively and then watched as the monk walked back to his boat to leave the island. Ten minutes later when the boat was halfway across the river the monk heard his name being called, and looking around, he spied the hermit and heard him call: "Listen to this, have I got it right now?" and the hermit proceeded to chant the same mantra but with the monk's intonation. Astounded, the monk turned around and saw the hermit walking on the water next to his boat. In that instant he realized that the hermit's faith and sincerity had given his mantra recitation far more power than he had realized. -Lama Zopa Rincpoche

Journey of Souls is great the way it's all presented just so matter-of-fact, almost like talking about heaven as if it was just another day at the office! Not to belittle it at all, but it's refreshing. What I find particularly valuable is the fact that it is not just one person's account, but many different experiences. They show similarity but from different points of view, depending on their personality. It's reassuring that all consciousnesses do have access to this level of existence, wherever it all is actually coming from or not. This really encouraged me to put down pursuit of more mundane or meaningless things in this lifetime, and focus on ways to hopefully glimpse such other places more directly.

I think "Lukedaal dows shickens!" is going to be my mantra for the rest of the day 😂 (a la kid pointing at the flock of white geese and shout "look at all those chickens")

Welcome, Aura. The fact that you're even paying attention to, and willing to discuss such a concept is a step in a good direction i'd say. Don't beat yourself up over it too much, though. (no pun intended) There are many and varied views shared here on what seems to be a common struggle, especially among energetic youth. Poke around the 'Fuxi' board in the Garden, and hopefully something will resonate for you. A recurring theme to winning is to forget all about retention per se, and focus on transformation. In other words, don't fuss over pulling energy out of where you don't want it, but rather on putting it into other things from the get go. What exactly that means in practice depends on what system suits you; what your motivation and goals for pursing such things, and how far along in any particular paradigm you already may be. Of course having the benefit of an experienced instructor guiding you in person is best. Sometimes if you get stuck it helps to try a different perspective. For example if cooking in dantians and pumping water wheels don't seem to be panning out for you, look into some good old fashioned chakra cleansing and elevating. Also don't discount the power of prayer, whatever that may mean for you. One note of caution i've seen is that you really do not want to transfer sex energy to the brain directly, not at first anyway. It can make you even more crazy! Most important in whatever system you're working is: Don't force anything. Keep watching with intention and let things ripen of their own accord. It's natural to want big results quickly, but you'll be surprised how simply sticking with a seemingly very basic practice will yield really high quality over time. ♥Ninny

It's all to prepare us transitioning to a space-faring civilization. Everything has to be travel-size to save on rocket fuel. Taking the trend to maximum evolution, once our bodies become mostly just a network of energy fields, will only need a few nanograms of toblerone in order to get the taste.

Did anyone just experience something wierd?
Nintendao replied to shortstuff's topic in General Discussion
At that time i was watching some coverage of the funeral on CNN. Maybe a lot of prayer and emotion going around today? Could be anything i suppose.. PEACE BE WITH US -
I think i've been at most ankle deep in such a mind, and even that was almost enough to get swept away for good. Quite the eye opening experiences to say the least. Not recommended for general use, though, depending on how comfortable one is with the potential of vacationing at a correctional facility. Sheer power and wit of "primitive" way is drastically underestimated, and we resort to musings like: There is no way puny humans could have built those pyramids, etc., they must have gotten help from extraterrestrials! Attempting to put it in spiritual perspective: Whereas today we may each be holding a candle flame inside, keeping it safe from the cold and calculating world, there was a time when it was the inverse situation. Our hearts and nerves were as steel tempered by the conflagration breathed daily by gods of old.

Have you looked into the works of Emanuel Swedenborg? The Life Elysian by Robert James Lees is also good. Oh! and Michael Roads's Journey into Nature. I hadn't heard of Michael Newton before, but interested in hearing some modern accounts of non-bodily memory. I even lucked out and can listen to Journey of Souls online: http://youtu.be/oLAOOElNUlk http://youtu.be/ozy885cpulM
