What i like most about wabi sabi is that it really can't be faked. Like trying to wear pre-faded denim or leather just looks kind of silly. Only time and use gets you the real thing..

After all, how many hours could we probably spend discovering how a piano emits sounds, or how the moon sheds light, and not have gotten any closer to understanding the relationship between the two than in just a few minutes with old Claude?

Even if we developed a super sense in the third eye, I was imagining it is almost like sonar, only instead of bouncing sound waves off things, we emit and reabsorb photons. Living tissue has been observed in the lab to emit a minute amount of light under certain reactions, something they termed biophotons. So if we process a lot of energy, and produce more of those photons, at the same time learn to focus the perception to sense such infinitesimal bursts of light, we have a new form of information exchange. As we seen in fiber optics, it's not even necessary to have a super bright light, it's only about the pattern of signals that needs to be decoded. This idea still limits consciousness to the speed of light, but there's also now research into quantum entanglement, where some spooky type of signal is taken instantaneously irrelevant of distance. So to build this into what wandelaar has presented.. i wonder if we will soon see some research being done where there can finally be a directly measurable correlation between what we see those biophotons doing, and what someone claiming to see with a "third eye"

I thought maybe it was less about the consciousness being a separate thing that can detach and travel around, as it is about being more sensitive and connected in general. When a telescope became capable of picking up finer and finer signals, we didn't say that the telescope itself went and traveled to a distant galaxy, just that it became more able to focus on what was already shining on it.

That star actually is about 4.24 ly away! http://www.atlasoftheuniverse.com/12lys.html That's a 5 year trip at near light speeds, not 5000 years. Our fastest space probe today will top around 0.06% of light speed, so the point is still valid: Humans are not likely to travel to another star system under conventional paradigms. Supposedly the math has already been solved for how to create a "warp bubble" that would effect faster than light traveling. The amount of energy required to power such a device is said to be greater than the amount of energy in the known universe, so that's another facepalm. Fringe physics (such as Nassim Haramein) is saying that the answer waits not in the matter/energy we can see directly, but in the potential present within every point of empty space. When we can learn the holographic harmonics of coaxing an entire universe out of a single proton, possibilities really start opening up.

It's okay to kill them as long as you also eat at least some of them. Just make sure to savor it long enough to let saliva neutralize the venom before it hits your throat.

Stosh's beer bottle attack definitely has "bum fu" cred, though.

The offstage clamor of interlocking antlers is to me actually much more palatable than the droves of wand-waving, crystal-crapping, butterfly-winged unicorns that flock to so many other spiritually themed media. Please don't get me wrong, I do very much love a good heart opening sparkle fest, but at the same time have to value the mind opening capability of a whack to the head or a shock to the guts. What's more, this place is a community, not just an institution. Off topic convos, whether about politics or potholders, help us learn more about each other. Having only been here a year I also always have the luxury of mining for gold and gems in the vast trove of thread history whenever the present weather doesn't grab my interest. Even better if I just turn the computer off and go practice! Only thing that makes me sad is when we have already lost some really, really good content and contributors that must have gotten too steamed over holy pearls being trampled in the mud. A wise bum must be able to know when things have gotten too heated and time to move on from a given scene before injury occurs. Either way, the circle of life goes on and the wheel of time turns. Throw another log on the fire. Namaste and happy 11/11 day

Is semen retention aligned with the Tao
Nintendao replied to interpaul's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
All very good comments in this thread already. I personally think 'semen retention' is too broad and misleading of a term, not to mention sexist. That 'power lock' fiasco is possibly Mantak Chia's biggest downfall. Having to use force to contain sperms in a pressure cooker is folly. Sexual conservation is a different thing than all that. There's a word you don't see very often anymore, but that used to be a huge part of spiritual life: Chastity. Even that word has taken on some strange contexts, so to get the meaning across, they now call Chasteness. Furthermore, in internal alchemy, male and female usually means some types of movement and stillness. Too many interpreters had their mind in the gutter. Even further still, remember that there are endocrine glands all over the place. Just because a pineal gland wants to squirt out some tryptamine, it's maybe reminiscent of an orgasm, but it's a totally different ballpark. Now, i will never claim to have all the answers. Everything has its place! Also sex magic is a thing, but it's specific and risky. -
I will write a ancient novel Or a history of sundo(ไป้) from now on.

Valid points! Fanning the coals too vigorously, fuel is consumed all at once. So much worse if surroundings ignite unchecked to cause wildfires. Moving on, I begin to note significantly the opening and closing of superficiary yang, allowing heat to vent out the pores of entire skin. Still a ways to go. -

@Marblehead You may not walk on water but you make damn fine work of rising above bulshit.

Yes, it seems you have been through quite a lot already. As you said in the Welcome section before, it may best be a matter of staying open to waiting. Have you done any practice like the one described here http://www.paoweb.com/starmult.htm ? If approached with the right mind you can become familiar with being bathed in a gentle light that can also be a guide. I am a big fan of walking. You can make it into a little adventure of exploration. Another best exercise is dancing. Just really get down and groove around the room to some tunes. You can work up a pretty good sweat doing that. Stay hydrated and breathe. Heck even if you have no dance moves just like bounce up and down and wiggle around. It can even be fun for the whole family. Needless to say there are lots of music genera to choose from and it is a matter of preference. In case you need ideas check out the "What are you listening to" thread over in the Rabbit Hole. Also these guys are hot right now: http://youtu.be/kg1BljLu9YY

Done. No more slouching. I begin to feel the cauldron warming up in abdomen. What's next? -
Well i for one commend your embracing of the red pill. I do not claim to know what your exoparents have in store for you, but i will throw some daoist ideas around and hopefully something will stick. 3..2..1.. Let's jam. As i see it, cosmic nutrition involves three main ingredients: matter, energy, and information. [Traditionalists call these respectively: jing(็ฒพ)=juice, qi(ๆฐฃ)=breath, and shen(็ฅ)=spirit.] Matter - As most applications are ultimately going to be conducting a lot of wattage, doing so without properly grounded and insulated circuitry could be detrimental if not catastrophic. A robust physical body can be a surprisingly great asset to spiritual endeavors. "The deeper the roots, the higher the branches." Energy - It exists in many familiar forms: kinetic, chemical, electromagnetic. First-hand perception and taming of these winds is the subject of a great many practices. A favorite starting point is to simply watch the breath - count each exhale and see how high a number you can reach without distraction. Wisdom - Order out of chaos. A shining pattern of consciousness carried aloft on photons born within stars, resounded holographically by Indra's jeweled net. Mysteries here. Which of the three shall I elaborate on? Or anything else for that matter. We just talkin' here โฅ
