Oh! @gj551, one more thing that i found really helpful to combat the related inflammation is Turmeric extract dissolved into tea or soup. Also amla and moringa if you can get it. Vitamin C.

I took this home study course in 2010. The website layout has changed a lot since then. The free lesson is located at https://www.damo-qigong.net/qigong-practice/free-qigong-course-part-one/ . It does a good job of describing the main sequence. The full version adds additional postures and details of practice, perspective, and alignment. Of course having the videos is a big help to get it right. A lot of what else is in the books is also found throughout the website. In the years since then I was always lacking true discipline and only kept up the practice for a couple months at a time here and there. Also bounced around trying some other systems. Even with that being the case, during those times doing Damo qigong, i experienced particularly healthy benefits and learned some of the most important things about qi than i ever thought possible.

sample.m4a Will this work? For the other guesses I can't put my finger on it. Can you give a hint, like what band it's from? #1 maybe Weezer or Nirvana #2 Alice in Chains? I can't tell.

I'd been a smoker since '96, to varying degrees. Earlier this year my dad passed away too young, from cancer. Seemed like an appropriate time for me to kick the habit for good. At first it took a bit of nicotine gum, cannabis, and cheap scotch, but here i am three months later and not dare going back. I recently found out i can walk three miles without a break, and count to 1,042 out loud.

I dunno but the name reminds me of something i see occasionally. It's a jump while using a one-handed weapon. Looks particularly good with an opened fan. You hold the thing out behind/below the direction of movement and kind of flap the wrist one or more times, imitating the tail of a fish or dolphin jumping above the water's surface. I have no idea if it's the real move. Maybe could work as a combined parry and dodge, or just to flow energy for further/higher jump.

Nei Dan: A Beginner's Experience or How I Learned to Stop Asking a Million Questions and Love Meditation
Nintendao replied to AugustGreig's topic in Daoist Discussion
I have a feeling this gets discussed a lot here. I have some two cents for now. Yes, maybe good to break it down to some more specific facets. AugustG mentioned arts, cooking, etc.. In any discipline the development of individual expression is very important, but also there is certain things a good instructor is invaluable. This hold specially true for martial/energetic things, if nothing else to avoid injury or at least embarrassment . I am super thankful for this online forum, but one-on-one in-person is that times ten. Safety - Good teachers have surely made lots of mistakes already, and can steer the student away from pitfalls they might not even know existed. Efficiency/accuracy - Teacher can literally hold your hand and place it into a position that may not be apparent in even the best images or descriptions. You'll instantly "get it" whereas it might take lots of trial and error pouring over details on your own. Either way has merit, but there is only so much time after all. Thus each generation has the potential to grow even greater than the last. When this is realized, it is easy to feel humble gratitude. Now, If you believe in prayer (or whatever you want to call it where there is more going on than strictly physical or even mental interaction) then there is an even greater benefit to "sitting at the feet of the master"- 53 replies

Blending light and dark... the "jungle fever" of the 21st century? Seriously, though, i think Eric has touched on something extremely pertinent to many contemporary practitioners, and managed to do so without coming off as evangelist. At any rate, the videos do have some great footage of authentic training, research, and deep personal experience.

@jinatot, i hope you are getting over those fevers alright... Remember to not be too forceful with the breath or over-exert, especially with hernias being a concern. Sometimes when learning from a video, the guy is doing all kinds of big movements, if I try to imitate that level from the start it can lead to strain. It is perfectly valid to practice a miniature version of the move, however far you feel comfortable stretching it, and work your way up gradually.

Good way to help get rid of a boner during sitting practice is to lean to one side, kind of balance on one buttock. It will allow to redistribute pressure within the pelvic floor.

I respect Chia for being among the very first to bring serious neidan materials onto the public internet back in the nineties. There's a decent translation of the NeiJing Tu's accompanying text still up at https://www.universal-tao.com/tao/inner_alchemy.html The image links to the painting don't work anymore but there are lots of copies floating around today e.g. https://www.thedaobums.com/uploads/post-41-1163359964.jpg

I will write a ancient novel Or a history of sundo(仙道) from now on.
Nintendao replied to dosa's topic in Daoist Discussion
Seems a very short novel, but a captivating legend nonetheless. Now, it is up to us to brave what happens next? To become a new generation of 仙道 -
迷 does have a nice ring to it. I like how it still carries an air of confusion about it, like to be so absorbed in something as to be "lost." Also evokes a bunch of nutty sports fans. Homer Simpson voice: "hmmm, dao nuts." for the sake of argument, some alternatives for "bum": 流浪 (liúlàng) wander, hobo - I like how it's made out of the words for flow and wave... 流氓 (liúmáng) rogue, hooligan. To build on what @Taoist Texts said, here's a favorite thread from the site history: https://www.thedaobums.com/topic/41-the-name-of-the-site/

In general it sounds like there was some junk in your system that is really just working its way out. You must be doing something right! If you have the opportunity to get out in nature for a walk, take it. Be courageous and if things get hectic do not hesitate to ask for extra support from the Healing Circle here.

First trap to escape is one of too tightly coupling the measurement of time, with the actual experience of its passing. For example in point #1, is the significance of 3 a.m. moreso related to one's spatial location relative to the sun?

Oh shit it's even worse than i thought!

So it's less about the i-ching itself being a complex system, than about it becoming a reliable notation system for describing complex phenomena? A daunting endeavor to even get started, but potentially worthwhile advancement. To simplify the concept all the way down to the natural numbers - A young child, when asked how old they are, holds up a certain number of fingers and says "this many." Only after learning the nomenclature of base-ten system would they give a more intellectual reply, but the idea that a certain amount of discrete things can be counted in some universally consistent way is quite natural. To be able to intuit exactly where along the continuum of "yinyangness" a given slice of reality resides would be strong kung-fu indeed. Not only would we have to memorize the 64 hexagrams and their personalities, but then establish a way to rigorously chant them while viewing/performing some outward manifestation of them - analogous to counting 1 to 10 while incrementally holding up one's fingers. Baguazhang is exactly this, in a kinesthetic sense. Now what if we have a BaguaScience? Could really kick some ass, technologically.

I was confused by this, too, until i just noticed the extra tag of "living in the present moment is a bullshit," haha! OP point #2 definitely seems to be in the spirit of embracing the infinite present, though. Realistically, few contemporary practitioners have the luxury of jumping directly into a truly timeless existence, riding the winds of cosmic whimsy while the "real world" be damned. Arguably it's only due to a lack of courage to make an extreme leap of faith, but some things must be done delicately. Time is a formidable force to be reckoned. Perhaps it is better transcended through mastery rather than dismissal. Over all i found Exorcist's words very insightful and encouraging!

You Will Get Precognition! A new free blogbook
Nintendao replied to voidisyinyang's topic in General Discussion
Ok i went and reviewed some Eddie Oshins stuff, and practiced the mildly painful fermion twisty arm thing several times. Interesting to see how quantum spin 1/2 applies to a kind of extradimensional taijitu! ( and badly executed wing chun moves ) I'll check out the Moose Dung PDF next. -

Of course the yin-side channels are inhabiting the palm, however when dealing with dynamic postures, you have to take into consideration which side is presently acting and the flexor, and which the extensor. According to Chang Naizhou, supine (upward facing) movements are sunny/yang in character, whereas prone (downward) are shady/yin. http://www.chinafrominside.com/ma/otherstyles/CNZbook.html
