  1. @neti neti Haven't you yet realised that what you're saying means that those who've not had this experience themselves cannot even begin to resonate with what you're obviously never going to be able to convey via words? The opening verses of the Vijnanabhairava tantra, with which you seem to have a passing familiarity, make it clear that all this mere philosophising is a pointless exercise. Does that make sense to you? ☮️
  2. how to stop spontaneous movement?

This will probably require real world intervention. Where are you located? ☮️
  3. A Path of ☮️

Returning to the issue of the semi-private, semi-personal hidden members only areas here. Having just read that one of the members seems to have gone on tilt and is pulling the plug on this bulletin board to set up his own website (as an alternative) because it seems that he was unable to pressure the moderators to suppress supposedly proprietary information published by one of his competitors, I'm moved to share my opinion that hosting your own website/blog is one of the easiest ways to circumvent the hierarchy on this bulletin board rather than by hiding in one of the hidden personal forums here. However, it's perhaps a reflection of someone's own competence (or lack thereof) if they're actually unable to function in this environment without having to resort to censoring others opinions (especially if they're claiming to be a competent martial artist)? I'm also at a loss to understand why anyone settles solely for the inherent constraints and the very limited clientele of this bulletin board instead of hosting their own website if they feel that they have something worthwhile to say that cannot (or should not) be published openly on this bulletin board. Of course, there's nothing that anyone can do to hide these supposedly secret systems nowadays, so even had this person censored that information and opinion here, it would still have been freely available elsewhere. ☮️
  4. Dependent Origination & Eternity

I feel that's a great answer, especially as you then explained it. ☮️
  5. It's occurred to me that it might be of interest and of value to some people as a starting point for (possibly silent) reflection. ☮️
  6. Dependent Origination & Eternity

Are you saying that dependent origination has a beginning and an ending? ☮️
  7. The Current Atmosphere

You might be misunderstanding the theory of dependent origination. On the other hand, I might be misunderstanding it myself. ☮️
  8. It's occurred to me that it might be of interest and of value to some people as a starting point for (possibly silent) reflection. ☮️
  9. The Current Atmosphere

    Like dependent origination? ☮️
  10. Really? Maybe you (or someone else) can explain why it's fundamentally necessary to view the concept of Brahman as God instead of viewing it as consciousness? ☮️
  11. It's infinitely more sophisticated and nuanced than that. But, as it's 3bob's fish to fry, I'll leave it there. ☮️
  12. Perhaps best to let 3bob explain what it means to him, as he posted it? ☮️
  13. Just fairly sophisticated (and nuanced). Something for everyone perhaps? ☮️
  14. Do you realise that your position is refuted by the Ashtavakra* Gita? Perhaps you take the view that this Gita isn't Hinduism? ☮️ *https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashtavakra ☮️
  15. In your case, I feel it's better to let the sutta speak for itself. Let me know if you disagree with it (and preferably why) and I'll be happy to provide further corroborative evidence that you may find helpful. ☮️
  16. So you'd be happy to accept that for some people Hinduism doesn't need Gods or gurus? ☮️
  17. You'll find that the Mahāparinibbāṇa Sutta is some evidence to the contrary. (I can provide lots more if that fails to satisfy.) ☮️
  18. Now, that painting's Hinduism in a nutshell! Anyone here competent to decipher all the symbolism? ☮️
  19. Did the Buddha need to read Pali texts in order to be a Buddhist? Did the Buddha write Pali texts in order to enshrine any thing that he considered necessary for others to learn Buddhism? ☮️
  20. In your opinion. In the opinion of others it works perfectly well like that. Isn't duality truly wonderful? You can have your own opinion and you can even attempt to impose it upon others. The usual way of doing that is by writing your opinion/interpretation of an original sacred text and appealing to the authority of that original text to give your own interpretation/opinion a second-hand authority. Interesting, I speculate that's why the Buddha refused to document his own teachings, having seen where that didn't lead or perhaps, he simply wasn't a poet? It's a great pity that the rishis themselves were too stupid and ignorant to explain their original writings themselves, isn't it? On the other hand, perhaps they knew full-well that the poetry that they wrote speaks straight to the heart of those who read it with any attempt to match the Love with which their poetry was written. Especially, if you learn to read our out aloud, as you will if you join one of Dayananda Saraswati's study groups for a few years. Having said that, in doing so you need to be quite careful that you don't fall into the trap of believing that his translation, interpretation and opinion are the original gospel. In fact, there are two different versions of Swamiji's Gita Course, which (thank God) might be enough to give some people pause for thought. For anyone who's to lazy to learn Sanskrit you can always plagiarise a translation and cut and paste the interptetations/opinions off the internet if you want to try to claim (3rd hand) authority. ☮️
  21. In fact, the only authority is the original text. All commentary is merely someone's interpretation/opinion. Isn't everyone equally qualified and entitled to interpret and to opine? Or is it only these patriarchs who have the right to have their interpretations and their opinions heard? ☮️
  22. Luke 6:42* springs to mind. Hopefully none of the moderators will decide that's off-topic and unilaterally censor my contribution to an OP's discussion again? Of course, if the OP considers it to be off-topic, I'll be happy to delete it myself. Just PM me @dwai if you'd like it removed. *https://biblehub.com/luke/6-42.htm ☮️ Addendum Thought it might be useful to add that I spent a decade studying AV and Sanskrit under the supervision of people including Dayananda Saraswati, so @dwai might consider me to be both qualified and competent to comment? Again, @dwai just PM me (or state openly) that you consider me to be unqualified to comment and I'll happily delete this myself. ☮️
  23. Does your question mean that you'd prefer to discuss Buddhism instead of discussing the fundamental tenet of Hinduism about which you seem to have an unusually individualistic view (i.e. that atma isn't Brahma). I'm fairly comfortable with the fundamentals of either religion and equally comfortable to take them or leave them. How about you? ☮️
  24. Doesn't that drive a proverbial chariot and horses straight through the Hindu fundamentalist doctrine that atman is Brahman? ☮️
  25. Childhood, depression and budhism

Isn't "awareness" also dependently originated in this theory of dependent origination? ☮️
