  1. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Just finished a two and a half hour flying Phoenix session outside with the full moon. There’s something special about practicing under a full moon in general but especially with flying Phoenix. It’s blows me away every time. Whole body buzzing. Anybody else get a session in tonite?
  2. Mo Pai and unwellness

Here's a interesting interview with Kosta that's fairly recent. I don't practice mo pai but he touches on a lot of points relating to internal arts in general. Also discusses reasons for stopping teaching/practicing.
  3. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Does anybody know is it beneficial to continue fp practice if one is under emotional distress? Going through some stuff and really dont wana halt my practice but i know ive read in other styles that it is not recommended to practice if one isnt balanced emotionally. Appreciate any responses
  4. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Has anybody practiced flying phoenix with a blindfold on? Would there be anything wrong with doing so? Ive been practicing FP for almost three years now and acouple weeks ago i finally learned the long form. I used a blind fold to help me get more confident with the moves. Particularly the step out and lift leg/step out. I found that using a blind fold allowed me to go even deeper in and move even slower with little to no tension. The only drawback i can see is you cant open your eyes immdiately after the third closing breath. Appreciate any feedback

  6. Tulsi (Holy Basil)

I buy it in bulk from mountain rose herbs. https://www.mountainroseherbs.com/products/holy-basil-rama-1/profile They sell all three varieties and give descriptions. I usually get rama and Krishna.
  7. Tulsi (Holy Basil)

Love tulsi. Actually drinking a cup of Rama tulsi right now. Wonderful adaptagen that is often overlooked.
  8. Interval Timers for Practice

The one I use is an app unfortunately but it works great and is very customizable. It is called "insight timer". It also offers guided meditations and community also. Worth the 5 bucks I think it was. Dharmacrafts.com also sells a nice one but believe its like $108 (which is crazy, I hope it makes a cup of coffee too...).
  9. Meditation on "Feeling" Love release Heart stress

Ive found this meditation helpful from time to time. Take a moment and feel your physical body and settle in Then feel whatever emotion you have. Whether it be anger, happy, sad etc. Really Take it in. Take a breath and express compassion and understanding to yourself Then feel that you are not alone. Feel the presence of life all over. Take a breath and express compassion and understanding to all. Repeat
  10. Does anyone have any hip flexor exercises?

Certainly can feel discomfort from lunges in the knees but you dont wana feel pain. A lot of great stretches were mentioned. Perhaps best to do what works for you and that may help with stretches that are more difficult down the road. I would definitely recommend checking out tre exercises too. Basically you do a few leg exercises to exhasust leg muscles and then hold acouple positions that induce tremors to release tension. These will start in your legs and within time work all the up to shoulders. Unfortunately there is no longer a full video available on youtube.
  11. Does anyone have any hip flexor exercises?

Yea that is correct. I was told theres a muscle in there that could be stretched with that and regular lunge (psoas major I think). And is responsible for alot of lower body pain. It may help to be near a table or something the lowered hand can use as support. Just a lunge stretch can also be helpful. I seen a art doctor (active release techniques) and he recommended that stretch, regular lunge and 2 other stretches I'll post images of. I did them for about a month along with tre exercises and my regular tai chi and qi gong. Helped me tremendously. This is just my experience. Take with a grain of salt. Everybody's different. Or

Ive always found this one very helpful
  13. Daoist or Chinese Music

Master Zhongxian Wu records some daoist inspired music. Its pretty good for practice. One album is available on spotify.
  14. Why do so few qigong masters radiate vitality?

I would consider Grandmaster Lu Zijian a master with great "vitality". Theres several clips on youtube of him performing his practices at 118 years old! Theres also a video of him smoking cigarettes over 100 and with his girlfriend that was half his age. He attributed his longevity and health to practicing internal arts and qigong. Or perhaps he'd hit the gene pool lottery.
  15. Really need help with healing, qigoing recommendations?

Flying phoenix is defenetly a solid practice for boosting health and wellbeing. I've had a lot of success with it. I would also suggest something like elderberry for what your describing. Either a syrup or gaia has extract capsules you can open and take under the tounge for a more potent delivery. It's very good at taking care of viruses in the body, clearing mucus in the body, boasting the immune system and a number of other things.

My experiences have been pretty great so far. I'm on my 308th day of consistant practice that I slowly progressed to how long I practice now. One thing I've noticed in particular is my bodies ability to adapt. I work rotating shifts and ever since I've been about 3 months in I can switch shifts with ease. It use to be very difficult and hard on my mind and body. I've also noticed improvement in the flow/relaxation of my tai chi practice. FP has certainly taught me to go slower in all aspects of my life.

Ive been practicing flying phoenix for a little less than a year and also following the blog here on the dao bums for some time. After it going private recently I decided to go ahead and get membership and perhaps participate in the blog. The blog has been a big help throughout my practice of fpck. My current practice is about an hour in the morning and an hour in the early evening alternating with exercises from volumes 1-3. Ive tried a lot of different qi gong and also practice tai chi and fpck has truly been life changing and eye opening for me. Something about it makes it easy for me to practice consistently. Where ive struggled practicing other styles daily. thanks joe
