Any twisted desire and passion can fall within these parameters you have set here! And it can be logicaly deduced to be philanthropy according to your "highly original" definition of it! Pedophile? No he was just cleaning your daughters' chakras.... Demanding a boatload of money to teach? It is to test sincerity plus it will be used to help poor people etc you get the drift.- 234 replies

Seriously???? What is special about India on that matter? This has happened almost everywhere in the world where old customs and religions were abandoned in favor of another. In some areas like Anatolia it has happened more than twice. Plus don't forget that at some point Buddhists (Ashoka) ruled the country (India)!- 234 replies

I have seen point 1 mentioned on the pdf of fragrant. Specifically the left foot. There are other instructions to stop the movements there because spontaneous movement that doesn't stop isn't a good sign but the advice might be fragrant specific. This is weird all right. What happens when a student can't stop moving? I will stand with what was said before that spontaneous qigong is dangerous for the undisciplined and the ones who have blockages. What your school chooses to teach or doesn't, isn't my business.

I wasn't saying that he lies. The comment is that he got deluded by a pre-awakening phase that he mistook for enlightenment. He believes that he is enlightened/awakened. On the third comment you made, i can only say that there are many types of awakening and Sportless does not talk about spontaneous cases but one induced by meditation and samadhi. @Cleansox He is a clear case of someone that has not reached enlightenment and teaches people how to get there. His defense of the New Age movement didn't help him look good in my eyes either. New age has ended up as a "feel good" movement filled with faux spirituality. Which in turn has given birth to 20 year old yoga teachers*..... And made up yoga (and qigong) systems...... It took some of the teachings of the East and distorted them to cater for a mass market spirituality lifestyle. *real yoga teachers should have a boatload of experience to deal with all the nuances of the practice. I would never expect someone to teach energy systems at that age.- 234 replies

Correct knee position - for qigong standing (Damo Mitchell's course)
Zork replied to JJBo's topic in Welcome
Shouldn't you be asking him since it is his system that you are practicing? I read somewhere that he responds to queries. Alignment in standing is a big issue that is very hard to correct by yourself. If i am not mistaken he has some seminars and paid online courses, so maybe you could get some live teaching which is far better than what this site can offer.- 2 replies

Introduction post + seeking advice on beginner practice
Zork replied to foolishmonk's topic in Welcome
Please do not take this as an insult or attack. There are thousands of qigong styles in the world and most of us have practiced a single digit number maybe some few a double digit. What do you expect us to recommend to you? What are your goals? Most neidan schools keep the processes hidden and there are very few people that really know what they talk about when they mention Neidan. -

@qofq Sportless isn't awakened despite what the claims and i bet that he hasn't gone through the processes he claims. I am not certain but i have heard that in buddhism there is "a false awakening" phase that the practitioner thinks/deceives himself that he is awakened but he is only half way through. That means that Sportless has some advancement towards awakening but not the whole package and certainly not the authority to teach this stuff. For example, If i tried to describe to you how to climb a mountain that i have not climbed the whole way to the summit, how would that sound?- 234 replies

It is a good book but it serves as an intro to LKC's specific YiQuan lineage. So if one is planning to follow another lineage or not to train with LKC himself then he/she might end up with some "bad habits" or stuff that will need to be relearned later.
-
There is no such thing as one single encompassing ZZ practice. Each school has different postures because it has different methods and goals. For example Damo Mitchel's Wuji posture is something akin to "standing in the stream" of LKC. If you "mix and match" ZZ techniques without understanding the underlying principles then you aren't accomplishing anything. How are you supposed to figure out everything by yourself? Is there a compelling reason for you to try reinventing the wheel?
-
How do you know this exactly? By all indications you haven't. Nice try but these are actual benchmarks and goals of yiquan. If you aren't getting there, then you aren't training properly. What is the point of talking theory? Do you stand 8 hours a day in one go? Placebo. You are wasting your time and effort like freeform said above. If you want health, enlightenment etc there are better systems out there. What does this have to do with actual physical benchmarks? No one needs to tell you that you have achieved them and "document it". If you have developed them, nobody can doubt them.
-
Again the problem isn't that you might get hurt (you might but then again you might not) but the fact that you might be wasting your time. How long have you been standing over 40 minutes every day? Have you developed XinYi? Have you developed Iron shirt? Have you developed fajin? If the answer to the first question if over a year and the answers to the 3 next questions are negative, you have wasted your time and effort. If the answer to the first question is less than 6 months, then we shouldn't be having this conversation in the first place because you are just starting. You haven't created the preconditions to benefit yourself or damage your body. You aren't listening. Look at the next quotes.
-
This is verbatim from the book. He never mentions in the book that the actual benefits need an hour or more of focused standing to materialise. No i mean i only know of one guy who did that. There are thousands out there who bought the book and have gone nowhere with it. @freeformdid a better job of responding to this than i could ever do. Au contraire i see a lot of entrenchment on the opinion on "how good the book is and how far it will take you". It is a good book for novices. That is all. If you haven't studied martial arts then you can't understand what can go wrong with just following diagrams or even pictures/video without live teacher's advice.
-
You are free to disagree but the main suggestion in the book of standing just 20 minutes a day every day, won't get you anywhere. That is a fact. Did you miss the part that i told you that we know ONE guy who did exactly that? He is the exception to the rule. Most won't get anywhere with the book alone. You are free to give it a shot and prove yourself an exception too.
-
It is ok as an introduction to ZZ and has some little advanced stuff but that is it. It can get you to a point but afterwards you are on your own. We know one guy who has advanced just by standing and meditation but he trail-blazed most of the way and he was very talented to find out many things by himself. So i don't get your angst. The book is good no doubt. Will it take you far by itself? No it won't, because that is not it's purpose.

Barefoot in training and daily life ... or shoes ?

13th time is the charm right? -
Civilization has no value to a cultivator. From a taoist point of view it is making steps backwards. So stop asking about the astral vampire named jeff. He isn't welcome and we won't help you contact him even if we knew.
-
That is exactly how STDs and unwanted pregnancies happen. These things are serious and Jeff doesn't know better.
-
Jeff caught some major astral STDs while playing around with the wrong entities.

Does somone advanced in buddhism know about qi dantians etc ?
Zork replied to waterdrop's topic in Daoist Discussion
It could be but for the time being i am not certain. I talked to him on the phone for a few minutes and he categorically refused that they use the LDT even as a concept. A quick look at his short syllabus confirms that but only in part because there is a mention of microcosmic orbit using a nonstandard terminology. I might know more in the coming months. -
Chidragon relies on the interpretation of modern chinese and the official ccp government of qigong. The CCP has done extensive crackdown on all spiritual practices since it's inception (Cultural "revolution".... yeah) so the supernatural elements are almost gone in mainland China. The qigong practices that are allowed in China nowadays are just stretching exercises with almost no internal value. He only has access to these sources. What do you expect him to know or help you understand? He is a regular deluded guy who has no clue about qigong and does some physical exercise believing it to be qigong or taichi. I have no problem with that but it is different when he seeks out to "guide" others.

Well what i see in Toni is a case of bitterness due to a seeming lack of progress. What he faces is a dilemma: keep pressing/training or quit altogether. It is his choice to make, not mine so i will not try to influence the decision.
