Hi Zork, We see having 3 levels better than having 0 levels. We all do the best we can with what we have. At the moment we know of no better options available to us, but will continue to hope that some new teacher is willing to provide the type and quality of evidence we require.

Hi Steve, I think the best way to explain it is our group is looking for practices that have a certain type, and a certain degree of evidence behind them. The two practices you mentioned meet those criteria, and we all keep searching hoping that more teachers will come forward willing to demonstrate their practice in such a manner. Not being interested in something unless there what you consider good evidence isn't "demeaning, and dismissive of all others systems and opinions", it is just being reasonable and rational.

There is no forest here, only a bunch of trees! Unfortunately if it was only my imagination there would be no 50+ page flamewars whenenever the topic comes up. We have eyes in lots of communities, sonofthegods, thedaobums, and several other forums, several subreddits, several facebook groups, but we only have our private forum that we share together. Also we aren't actively recruiting here, and only passively keep an eye out for like minded individuals. Actually he wanted to teach westerners, it was the elders in the school who intervened and demanded they be removed.

Some people here do care, not many but some. They keep quiet because just like the right wing trolls that destroyed this place, the vocal group that opposes our system shuts down any attempt at discussion here. The behavior is exactly the same. Ideally if there were a moratorium on its discussion everyone would be better off. Until a moratorium comes, we will try and keep our eyes out here for like minded individuals.

If your goal is to change your opponents mind you can almost never win. The backfire effect is very real. If your goal present your viewpoint to others, and hope that they may find your position reasonable, sometimes you might succeed.

Hi Ralis, Actually I think a moratorium on all Mo Pai discussion would benefit everyone on the forum. I've done my best not to talk about. I created this thread to try and prevent further derailment in another thread.

I simply responded to this because firstly I know it to be true first hand, and secondly this hits a nerve in respect to my practice as it is something others have in the past tried to use as an argument against its validity. While perhaps you didn't mean or intend it that way at all it is something I feel necessary to defend against, even if you see it as quixotic. Hopefully in a few months you can calm down because I don't see anything here for you to be upset over.

For me I've had some real life classroom settings that were awful, teachers who obviously did not want to be there, and wanted to talk about their dog more than the subject material. While the immersion was not as high quality, the learning experience at least for me was better.

Hi Zork, I care, and others do as well. Also the top western student got further than many of the Asian students, and was examined and tested to his level.

It is not my intention to put words in your mouth. I did not say you attacked me. What I am saying is saying that it is impossible to learn an art based on written instruction, audio and video instruction is an attack on the system I follow, full stop. I don't think you meant it maliciously, perhaps not even consciously. You asked me directly why this is important to me, and I answered honestly. There is nothing for me to apologize for.

What I am saying is that I know for a fact if someone is serious they can replicate the same experiences and effects based on video, and written material. This is not an opinion, it is a statement of fact. It is important to me because firstly I know it to be true first hand, and secondly because this is an indirect attack on the system I study.

I know serious students can and do replicate the same results based on the same material (which was not professionally produced).

All I can say is that if someone is serious, they certainly can learn by video, audio and written instruction. More often than not the classroom provides a routine and a structure which most people require otherwise they would be on Facebook, YouTube and PS4.
