From my perspective the vast majority of the members here are not interested in it, and are sick of seeing it "discussed". I think a moratorium on ALL Mo Pai discussion just like the right wing bs would be the best option here. This way there is no discussion to annoy the majority of members here who do not want to hear about it, and our group does not have to refute the lies and disinformation spread about it.

It's not supposed to be a Mo Pai discussion so much as just an agreement with sources with Taomeow's post.

They can and do cause themselves serious damage and then blame mo pai for it.

Because luke for whatever reason thedaobums is the landing spot for all people seeking mo pai, and when they come here they get their heads filled with lies and disinformation. Our hope is we can reach these people before the trolls have a chance to convince them it is all bullsnot, so they can practice and see for themselves the truth of the matter.

We have sought only to politely defend against personal attacks on ourselves, our teachers and our practice. We have attempted to remain as respectful as is possible and defend ourselves, our teachers and our practice. Members were frequently told they could not reply to attacks on themselves, their teachers or practice, and to create a new thread for discussion on that. They followed instruction and created a new thread in their PPD and their PPD was suspended for some unknown rule violation even though they did exactly as they were told to do. When they pointed out this treatment was not fair, they were banned for it. I have no way to convey to you how cruel it is to watch your teachers, your group members, and your practice raked over the coals time and time again, and not be able to even correct falsehoods politely about it without being banned because "you created too much review on staff". From my perspective its not political discussion that needs to go, so much as toxic abusive members. More often than not these people are far right. I think the best solution is just to let these people go their own way, which is what we are doing. We will all be better off for not having their toxic behaviour and energy here.

Looking at what works in practice, the Nordic countries are very far left. They have some of the most well educated populaces on earth, the highest quality of life, and the least corrupt governments. They provide socialized housing, healthcare, education, and amazing welfare and social safety nets for their citizens.

The FBI is right, that violent crime (OVERALL) is down. Mass shootings might be up, but the FBI isn't wrong in the terms of overall violent crime decreasing.

People who think logically, critically and are rational beings tend more often than not to gravitate towards the left. My personal experience in dealing with far right individuals is that this goes far beyond politics. Even if you ban all political discussion on the site, you still have people who are loud, obnoxious, and cannot be reasoned with as facts don't matter to them. I have met far right individuals and found they think with their emotions and not with logic. Politicians who know how to convince these people using emotional language and arguments. They can convince them of any absurdity they want. Look at this as a prime example: In this video Newt Gingrich says that feelings are facts too, and that just because the FBI national statistics say one thing doesn't mean they are true as what people feel emotionally is more important. You cannot present facts because facts don't matter, only feelings and delusions matter. So even if political discussion is banned, these people are going to continue to turn this place into a cesspit any way they can. What we need here on this forum is a group of intelligent, rational and compassionate people, not a group of loud obnoxious trolls. Telling all these far right conspiracy nutjobs to GTFO and don't let the door hit them on the way out is a really good start to cleaning this place up. We don't need that kind of crazy here. What is so impressive about this is that it can generate energy 24 x 7 even when the sun isn't shining. The main criticism of wind and solar are that they are intermittent sources of energy, and batteries are expensive install and maintain. That is true, but this project stores energy as heat in molten salt, which can be extracted on demand at night or whenever needed. There is enough energy in our deserts to power the entire world many times over.
