well its a strange world. For instance in periods of Japanese history respect for superiors and elders was (and still is) very important in their society yet when the the Samurai were in force they could execute certain people for slight infractions; considering that how did much of those certain parts of the populations mental health fair with that possibility hanging over them? I don't know but we could guess by putting ourselves in their shoes.

Sorry to spoil the drift but it sounds like some romanticizing of some "native" ways which also had their less than wonderful aspects. For instance native American tribes had some horrific wars against each other along with further forms of violence and or slavery being exercised against the remaining people of the losing tribe afterwards.

agreed on the different ways per temperament, but to me the quote is pointing out the final key that applies across all of them... and I used the "not just by" because such aspects are part of the process and have related importance although they are not the final key. Btw there is context related to such aspects mentioned in the book I quoted from but did not post because I feel that many people don't want to be thumped with a bunch of text. (or at least I don't)

I feel that that saying or term of "non-judgement" needs to be given lots of context. For instance don't get in the habit of being judgmental about everything and everyone which in no way means giving up discernment and recognition of relative good and evil in words and actions that we hear or see taking place, and then proceed as best we can from there. I'd also say don't forget that Jesus was/is also an invincible warrior for truth along with being a "good shepherd".

Btw, innocent little kids are not exactly wise or all that careful because they lack various kinds of experience and their love is often like "puppy" love, so to speak, which is fine with family and those close to same but being wide open to anyone otherwise is risky. Do you have kids of your own?

(after spending a lot for mechanics to get everything fixed!) Besides horses I hear there are camels down under...

Many of us have been fairly safe from natural disasters and man made strife for awhile, but that is changing pretty fast to where there are fewer safe places from such troubles, for almost everyday or weekly people in the US and elsewhere are contending with potentially deadly weather events and all that that may include, also random or planned shootings involving civilians and or cops. Then there are horrific hot wars or military actions going on somewhere in the world, or the ever looming cold wars that could turn hot, etc.! Does the question come down to an if or a when will such troubles come upon us who have been relatively safe? We can talk about and do various spiritual practices but I'd say that such also needs a certain external atmosphere (besides an internal one) to be worked on or exist. Some of my family members more or less ignore the news because they say there noting they can do about it and being that they are busy with their personal lives, problem is our personal lives also depend a lot on the bigger picture of what else is going on at all levels around us in towns ,city's, states, and countries of the world! The saying, "no man is island" comes to mind...so we do what we can since even small things make a difference.

righto, I read somewhere that LED light technology was some kind of or partial accident discovered by techs which is now saving tons of electrical energy! Same with the convenience of sticky notes and labels, and probably a hundred+ other things we often take for granted.
