"How hard or easy is it?" is an erroneous question to ask on the Spiritual Path

there are an "x" number of Self-realized jnani's that have touched into the Self (in the context and title of yogi's, swami's or other titles) but as far as I know there are far, far fewer actual Satguru's* which is what i meant by a complete jnani. So yes many relatively wise people (Rishis, etc.) were and are householders but a full renunciate as taught as the final stage in most forms or sects of Hinduism as far as I know is not. (* for example there may be 1,000 or 10,000 ? yogis for every Satguru) -

"Simply"? I'd say the chances of becoming a full jnani (as in manifesting Satguru) without following and completing the dharmas of sannyasin would be exceptionally rare to about zero...but what do i know. -

it is not easy to be a householder or a sannyasin (of most traditional orders), it is impossible to fulfill the dharma's of both and trying to do so will not work...granted one could be in some kind of transition but even that can only go on for so long. Further, many householders here and in the world study the ways and words of sannyasins (or renunciates) and imo that only works if the sannyasins also recognize and are qualified to help in the ways of householders (a life they have renounced) otherwise cross-purposes or conflicts will take place.. -
sounded like a mature little doggie...I've noticed cats usually have one acting personality while some dogs can range all over the place so to speak, as in happy to sad, friendly to not so friendly, etc..

After Self-realization, what else needs to be done?
old3bob replied to dwai's topic in General Discussion
In English that is ignorance. So I'd say such is so with 99.999% of us incarnated souls in human forms including most pundits, yogis, swami's and gurus who are not yet great and fully evolved souls of scintillating white light, (for The Self to manifest through) although we are somewhere on the way...relatively forward, or backwards or sideways....- 211 replies

After Self-realization, what else needs to be done?
old3bob replied to dwai's topic in General Discussion
fear of death is gone but I'd say a sort of apprehension exists (at least for the me) until most all of karma and ego is resolved ...since their is still remains an "x" amount of karma and ego after Self realization per "recognition" as Forest of emptiness alludes too; after that part of the process it seems that only a trace of disciplined ego would remain as an interfacing function in this world, but of course I'm a long ways from such a great soul of scintillating white light!- 211 replies

we often hear sentences with words like "the real me"...or my real self or Self. which are paradox's in the sense that the real me or my real Self is not a particular "me" at all per a realization that there only one of us or one Self. also one might ask if there is no matrix for the Self how can the Self be? To a matrix mind of thought such a situation does not compute but to the Self the matrix, or creation, preservation and destruction comes and goes like a play or dance on a stage. The pure light, first light or first prana that makes all that possible is of enlivening bliss but in the end we must go inside the light to its source and that is the great unknown that can not be known except by Itself. I think the first chapter of the T.T.C. alludes to this per: "As the origin of heaven and earth, it is nameless. As the mother (or matrix) of all things it is nameable." edit: (I would add or say that a unique soul knows itself as a "particular me" whereas in the Upanishads the teaching on the "Self" does not equate to a particular soul among countless others) -
(quote recopied) #India #Grief #Rituals #ForThoseLeftBehind "It’s not just numbers. It’s not just Deaths. It’s the complete helplessness. It’s the inability to ever say goodbye. Death rituals were psychological designs for the society, the family to bid farewell. It’s the complete and total absence of that. No. A zoom meet cannot substitute a hug, a howl, a tired smile through the tears. No please. It’s not just numbers. It’s us. Human. Very very human. Very very helpless." This is really the crushing bottom line and anything that can be done to reduce it is of our common dharmic duty. (In India and in the many other places it is happening! So I'd say wearing masks, social distancing, washing hands and whatever else needs cleaning or filtering, along with rejecting hyped up lies and thus being well informed about the validity of getting a 99.999% proven safe vaccine is not really asking much to reduce such tremendous suffering, even if it is not at our personal doorstep - just yet - although such could happen with whatever comes next!

a short note on TB from WHO. (where it is very bad in India while people in the US. are not under anywhere near the same risk of death as those in many other countries that have poorer medical systems!) Key facts A total of 1.4 million people died from TB in 2019 (including 208 000 people with HIV). Worldwide, TB is one of the top 10 causes of death and the leading cause from a single infectious agent (above HIV/AIDS). In 2019, an estimated 10 million people fell ill with tuberculosis(TB) worldwide. 5.6 million men, 3.2 million women and 1.2 million children. TB is present in all countries and age groups. But TB is curable and preventable. In 2019, 1.2 million children fell ill with TB globally. Child and adolescent TB is often overlooked by health providers and can be difficult to diagnose and treat. In 2019, the 30 high TB burden countries accounted for 87% of new TB cases. Eight countries account for two thirds of the total, with India leading the count, followed by Indonesia, China, the Philippines, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and South Africa. Multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) remains a public health crisis and a health security threat. A global total of 206 030 people with multidrug- or rifampicin-resistant TB (MDR/RR-TB) were detected and notified in 2019, a 10% increase from 186 883 in 2018. Globally, TB incidence is falling at about 2% per year and between 2015 and 2019 the cumulative reduction was 9%. This was less than half way to the End TB Strategy milestone of 20% reduction between 2015 and 2020. An estimated 60 million lives were saved through TB diagnosis and treatment between 2000 and 2019. Ending the TB epidemic by 2030 is among the health targets of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

I'm sorry for your very painful experience with your grandmother......and also I obviously never stated, assumed or knew anything about that matter thus putting me (per use of an "you") into some kind of unfeeling box is way off base and wrong. Thus I'd say the "you" should be replaced with "many people".

Sounds like a high and mighty, irrational and presumptuous comeback on your part....50 years before covid I had to be tested for and be clear of TB before I could become a cook and those state mandated precautions were for the good of all citizens along with no one being lied to or manipulated about it. So analogy wise covid is of similar and seemingly greater import although I don't know the comparative stats on how many people have died from TB compared to the scale of covid deaths. (and there are several TB and Strep variants which no one wants to come into contact with, more so in medically ill equipped countries to deal with it. (and several other severe diseases). Btw. I also had kids and know of their trails and tribulations but even they can cowboy or cowgirl same as adults yet with adult support and I think they can also do without a lot of the so called "modern" and often artificial bullshit they become addicted to from parts of western culture.

evil may be relative to humans but if is relative to Dharma which is derived from the "Source" then kiss your behind goodbye...

same as the gout medicine? (and way overpriced)

the article may capture what many Indians are feeling on the subject yet I think the article also has exaggerations in that many of the horrible facts in the west have also been reported graphically not unlike the tragic stories coming out of India recently. For instance the many thousands of deaths in a medically advanced Italy earlier on with a patient overflow causing some to be left in hallways to die more or less alone, then later on the same happening in many parts of the US. (with deceased people then being stacked into and being hauled off in refrigerated 18 wheeler type trucks) All of which should have made a searing impression on anyone regardless of their country.

if ones parents, grandparents, other family members and or friends are suffering or dead from covid there will not be much care free and often indulgent "socializing"...(as large numbers of college kids are doing)) it should be black and white obvious that we have had pain and in the worst cases mourning which has happened to lots of families! Btw. many states have black and white rules about certain health matters, for instance if you are not tested for and clear of TB or whatever other diseases then you can not work as food handlers/cooks; Yet there are some trump like idiotic fools who want to enjoy living a "Reality TV" life similar to what was depicted on the old apprentice show which was driven by greedy liars, cheats and thief's of debased one-up-man-ship.. or some who simply want to cheer on their god anointed dictator who will take them to the promised land, which in their case analogy wise translates to them having the freedom not to deal with things like TB or covid in restaurant workers since such is just another leftist lie from "snowflakes" as far as they are concerned. Talk about acting on misinformation!
-
Lets not forget Modi was taken in and kissing trump's diseased ass and is on record for spreading trump type lies about covid! To somehow downplay or play with numbers regardless of what people on the ground (seen in 1st hand videos - with no talking heads needed) in India are saying about the impact of covid illness and deaths is more trumpian type insensitive sickness. I do agree with the following about India and for so many other parts of the world: "What it really suffers from is the usual -- devastating poverty, malnutrition, hunger, famine, abysmal scarcity of medical resources. Things that are "the usual" for a post-colonial country, only made worse by a new and improved wave of corporate looting"

it takes a will to surrender a will, so forget nihilism and the various forms and doubts it sometimes takes...(which is easier said than done) Everything has cause and effects thus matters within the One which is under Dharma or laws. The Self, the most basic identity is permanent, unchanging and source of Dharmas. Egotistical dominance cracks and drops away as the truth of Self becomes unveiled. -

without water for 5-7 days and most of us would be goners, 3-5 minutes without air and most of us would be goners, 1 second without the lifeforce and we are goners in this world, but I don't recommend trying any of those proofs. (beyond concepts) Granted a person could be in a coma with hardly any signs of life yet there would would still be some connection with soul and lifeforce being that the silver cord has not been severed.- 7 replies

George Gurdjieff's Fourth Way | Biography, Teachings and Quotes of Gurdjieff
old3bob replied to Shanmugam's topic in General Discussion
Sounds to me like you hit on many of the major lines or concepts, but there is so much more that I'd say takes time and study of first hand accounts of certain goings on ... (btw. it also sounds like you have not really studied the life of Osho, the fallen, pied piper "black magician" per Mr. G's definition of the term; since you brought Osho's name) Btw, multiple indicators are strong that Mr. G was not enlightened along the lines of the "Self" which the Upanishads and many other teachings of Santana Dharma point towards, and which can be prepared for by using methods although can not gained or evolved into no matter how "sly" a person or their methods may be may be; which I bring up since you are pictured wearing the mark of a Hindu. (Note: it does seem obvious that Mr. G. developed himself quite a powerful astral personality, including powers of "darkness" like being able to kill a strong yak animal with his mind alone, which he said he later gave up and also his times of mercilessness tearing down of people and apparently leaving them adrift in chaos instead of with Dharma, including Sanatana Dharma which as you very likely know is not founded by any human being as most other religions or ways are)- 7 replies

I'd say that inviolate, universal spiritual law does not come from the mind of endless speculation and diminishing returns, for if it did we could all kiss our asses goodbye.
