The Self is eternal and real, when it comes down to the brass tacks nothing else will fully satisfy or finally vanquish any doubt. Om Tat Sat

another context where the word acceptance works is that we have accept starting (or restarting) from where we are at - instead of starting from a way out projection based on transcendental type material that we' ve only read about and intellectualize on.

thanks for bringing up elemental forces Dwai, for instance if someone perishes in a terrible flood most people can accept that that happened without evil intent since it was by impartial elemental forces, whereas if someone perishes because of willfully evil intent by another being then we have a major difference in response/reaction and rightly so imo...

recognition rather than acceptance may be a better word to use, For example Jesus recognized a sinner but he did not accept the continuation of sin, thus He said, "go your way and sin no more". Yet even that could get dicey because of the judgement aspect unless the judgement was spiritually true and wisely given. Eastern religions or philosophies that can or do range from A-Z need extra work for most of us to get a handle of understanding about them, and so do some of the Christian sayings, like "love thine enemy", which begs the question of what exactly does that mean or what good does it do if you let your guard down and you or others are harmed or killed?

haven't had that happen yet, although after attending some public event and in the parking lot some guy purposely tried to hit me with his car, not real hard but enough to make me jump part way onto his car hood! (as he apparently laughed & then took off)

interesting how we had such different experiences in the Boston area, although clear on the other side of the state I did run into some more aggressive drivers around semi yuppie towns tucked away in the countryside who were in a big hurry to get down two lane highways as fast as possible, a young and upwardly mobile looking lady in a fancy SUV let me know I was going too slow for her with a one finger salute, even though I was within speed limits.
-
Right, then add another 4 lane hwy. above the present one that is supported by pillars. (if that is not enough then dig to add underground lanes)
-
interesting that you ask, I've driven around Boston some and it had very heavy traffic but the drivers seemed less aggressive there than in California. (and how about some those old and very narrow roads near downtown Boston!) I have never driven in NY. of NJ. The big cities in Texas (like Houston!) get kind of crazy to drive in but they seem to have mix of behaviors in their drivers. I once stereotyped Texas in not such a good way before spending time there but after I did I found a decent mix of people, places things that I hadn't expected, like wine country, lots of great parks, rivers, beautiful trees, good restaurants, history galore, good businesses and various facilities , and also Lukenbach Texas "where there aint' nobody feeling no pain."

Speaking of bison, I've gotten bad packages of it a few times which is very discouraging when you are trying to get a supposedly better meat that didn't come from "slaughter house 5" so to speak. Btw. I've driven in SD. a lot and its bumper cars for real there ! Road rage with little tolerance for other drivers and tail-gating as if everyone is indestructible and errorless to stating a chain reaction crash scenario, more so during early morning fog along the coastal area highways. (don't get stuck on I-5 without lots of gas for when it slows down to 5-10 mph with stops in between)

that is really terrible ! And probably many more not listed...

I didn't know that about the short time that chickens are let out of cages, good info...(I was kidding about the yolk)

isn't that because runny egg yoke is healthier than hard boiled, especially if it came from a happy uncaged chicken who got its share of plump, insecticide free grasshoppers.

agreed per human standards, but not in the eye of nature or Tao (so to speak) which is not bound or limited by human standards. (and is related to why a great Sage rooted in Tao can not be defeated by a great but rootless demon)
-
which I would take as meaning vice is not virtue, and virtue is not vice. (in the eye (as an analogy) of Tao)

more or less we all have selective reading of posts which is proven by our responses.

technically so per a sea creature, but analogy wise the tentacle's are definitely there. I'd also say that a machine can not technically act against the Tao but a being can try through willful, machine like manipulations. "what is against the Tao will soon cease to be" Hell, Lucifer fits your drift being it means something nice and inspiring namely, "morning star".

that diabolical planetary octopus* of pure malice and greed does not prevail, although it does a great deal of harm on its way down. (*one name out of many possible)

Is karma( or cause and effect ) the ultimate teacher / punisher ?
old3bob replied to kyoji's topic in The Rabbit Hole
There is only one Self in the many. That Self knows the Self, (and of the many) Thus is freedom. -

illusion per-se can not arise out of reality/truth, thus the only illusion there can be is in incomplete or limited perception...and I'd add that such is not convoluted rocket science. -
the Self is so simple that the mind will never get it!

nope, a raft may be set down and also picked back up...to beat around the bush of a Buddhist saying.
