Problems with the Foundational Posture in Damo Mitchell's Comprehensive Nei Gong Guide
DynamicEquilibrium replied to NoOne's topic in Daoist Discussion
A "Big name" most often acts as an "anti-tao block", preventing the bearer and her/his following to enter the gate or opening. These energy practices amplify the self, they do not make it smaller and smaller no matter the coat of fake humility, benevolence, knowledge, skills and wisdom it can wear. How something too big can go through a crack as tiny as the tip of a pine needle and lead close or far following to its entry point? Based on their purposes, practices are some kind of shapes to give form to something formless, what if the intangible parts of a self remain sick, disintegrated, disharmonized and so on ? What if practice becomes nothing more than a way to give more tangible form to these diseases and their deleterious effects? If writing on anonymous forums is a part of one's practice, what words are realy giving form to? Diseases are something infectious and becoming the transmitter of own diseases or those of one's "teacher" has really nothing appealing in my opinion. According to the possible problems mentioned above, a taoist approach to "practice" by any shapes may then be seen as a kind of effort of self healing by the ways of a very specialized medecine and at the same time a way to get more and more integrated as a healthy "one", making this "one" smaller and smaller, closer and closer to the entry point each day. -
The reason why a person who only has qi in his lower abdomen can't understand the WuZenPian

@awaken Thank you for taking the time to answer and make clearer. Yes, nothing or nobody can help or force a person to change, even "God" cannot, so it is always sad to see ideas voiced so loud and ideas forced so hard into others minds. Tao ways of "education of a spirit" was a complete different approach and methodology than human ways consisting of some kind of internal work (qigong) plus inferior De means. Emphazise is put on "Learning from the Great Nature, not from men", but yes very difficult to find an introduction to Tao. -
Precepts and Ethical Foundations of Daoism

🙇🏻 So many things constantly weakening our Self-control and reasoning abilities, the manual pilot mode. Weak Self-control and reasoning abilities make very poor ways of living and personnal ethics in my opinion. I'm still not sure any kind of human invented remote control could help to re-establish such lost connection from which could arise "Natural ethics" with the positive changes in real life behaviours towards others, other Lives and the conduct fitting with the lineage's framework this connection could possibly bring. Here we surely have experience in systems working differently, thank you for the welcomed point of view, it helps me to get a broader picture. In all cases, switching from automatic to manual pilot mode with spirit in the captain seat was never as easy as hitting the submit reply button 😁 -
Precepts and Ethical Foundations of Daoism

Yes, as human beings we may feel no real threats yet the Earth, its natural ressources and others species of lives may not exactly feel the same. External control do pretty well in the purpose of keeping impulses and base desires in check indeed, i would add to direct them too, the modern society seems to create mainly only one type of individual nowadays : the consummer of products, ideas, beliefs... anything. Yes, we all have our biais from our ideals, i could'nt agree more and of course it is always better to do some kind of discernment thanks to a healthy "immune system". -
Precepts and Ethical Foundations of Daoism
DynamicEquilibrium replied to Wilhelm's topic in Daoist Discussion
In this matter, there might be two distinctive categories and ways. 1- Absolute morals and rules: invented by man to educate and civilize man by control. 2- Absolute common principles: the principles of the Great Nature to educate and civilize man by restoring harmony. Ethics as opposed to morals in the sense of "free choice" to be made by the individual only, may come as a natural practical result from number 2 and never from number 1 hence the failure of the effort of education and civilisation made by the humanity so far. -
My Opinion of Something of This Entire Subject As a Newcomer Looking In
DynamicEquilibrium replied to NoOne's topic in Daoist Discussion
Thousand Li horse wouldn't stop on its way to talk with chickens and dogs, neither would it care about what they are doing or not. Horse has horse goals, chicken has chicken's goals and dog has dog's goals. As a fish, it would be foolish to tell a bird that its ways of living are wrong and that it must live underwater, so as a monkey you can't ask a cow to climb trees. No matter fish, horse, or dog, live by your own nature's ways and let live others by theirs, respect and cherish human "biodiversity", but yes, everyday mouses are forcing turtles to live by the mouses way. Self-knowlege and proper ways of living by own nature isn't about mystico-gelatinous "neidan" concepts, its more about learning how to survive in this increasingly hostile, unhealthy and dangerous jungle called the world. -

Hello Awaken! Do you possess any knowledge and skills to help us to repair and fix the differentiations and conflicts within our individual and unique Xing and Ming structures which constitute what could be called our "body" the "body" of our intangible subconscious inborn Natures ? It could be a very important stage, since the more serious the differentiations and conflicts, the poorest the self-mastery abilities and interactions with other people and lives, and we could easily be stuck, unaware of the situation, within the loops of our inborn Natures and irrationality would be then the main caracteristic of our behaviours. If there is such purpose in your teachings, how do you perform the diagnosis of the inborn Natures of your students ? Third eye and other fancy "powers" doesn't count here, they are too weak to explain anything objectively, anybody could say they possess such "powers" and tell anything about anybody, very dangerous and terrible actually. So we may need something more objective, accurate and sharp in terms of principles, knowledge and skills to help us to integrate and pacify our inborn Natures. This stage may be vital before anything more "spiritual", because more "spiritual" may in some if not most cases increase the differentiations and conflicts instead of fixing if we rushed too early into something which was meant to be apprehended only after a solid, firm, stable and most importantly, a healthy foundation was set by under our feet. Sorry i have not enough time to read all your posts, but can you remind briefly what is the goal of your system of practice ? Best
