  1. The Phantom Code

She is attempting to retrieve doomsday protocol, nuclear launch codes? Else its difficult for computer code written during the cold war to have that type of gravitas.

  3. Why do we make bad decisions?

In terms of thermodynamics, good decisions require more energy than bad ones.
  4. Why bother with morality and ethics?

In observing myself & others. It seems that morality moves with God and nature. While immorality moves against God and nature. If nature is a river. Morality moves with the current. While immorality is battling the current of the river.
  5. What are good professions for those who lean towards being know-it-alls. Two career options I considered were stock / options trading and sports gambling. For those interested in being right about things more than average. Who do not mind spending hours breaking down minutiae of events frame by frame. Picking stock winners or winners in sports seemed like a good fit. I signed up at a fantasy sports website called mma victor. They gave me a $5 sign up bonus for making an account. I got 1st or 2nd place in almost every game I played. Turned that $5 into almost $100. Then I suffered successes and failures and had to gain more experience, improve my self control and discipline. Later I deposited about 0.07 bitcoin into a sports gambling website. In 6 to 12 months that 0.07 btc became 2.00 or 3.00 bitcoins for odd 30x gains. By this point I had become what many speak about by few know anything about. A consistently winning gambler. Then a strange thing happened. I bet on a sporting event. Selected the athlete who naturally should have won by decision. Instead judges offered a verdict that the loser had in fact, won instead. This happened successively, on every athlete I wagered a bet on. Over a span of about 6 years leading up to today. Almost as if someone had rigged the game against me. Rigged the game and life against me to a point where chances of success were zero. And defeat had become the only option. ... Not the most interesting or relevant story perhaps. But this is where things get interesting. Earlier in 2024 I saw footage of the attempt on Donald Trump's life. "It was almost as if the universe and cosmic forces had conspired to rig events against the shooter". "To a point where the bullet missing its intended target and failure had become the only option." If someone asked if I would trade the millions of dollars I probably would have made gambling over the past 6 years for Trump's life. I would have to say Trump's life is more valuable. Those involved with magic and the occult typically being fond of "as above so below" methodologies. And there being no shortage of smart people on the internet with an excess of smart comments. I would be interested to read such things if anyone would care to offer them.

Interesting. What are your thoughts on things like the dead sea scrolls. Would be the kneejerk reaction.
  7. I've been thinking on whether the social hierarchy of christianity in the bible is sub optimal. A single leader or prophet attempting to nurture & guide large groups of people may not be the most efficient design. The best format would be individuals learning to nurture and guide themselves, making prophets and leaders (somewhat) obsolete. Walmart enjoyed some success cutting middle men from their supply chains. Perhaps organized religion can enjoy similar success by following a similar strategy. Believers cease listening to priest and prophet middle men. Individuals become their own priests and prophets. Perhaps this is the way God desired it from the beginning.
  8. The next major advancement in Christianity

Bible history goes something like this. 1. God offers people wise counsel 2. People reject wise counsel and make poor choices 3. People beg God to save them from results of their poor choices 4. God saves them from their poor choices 5. People return to making poor choices once again 6. God saves them from their poor choices 7. People return to making poor choices 8. God saves them from their poor choices Think about how pointless that process is. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Those who make poor choices often do so making choices based on lies and inaccuracy. While those who make good choices base more on truth & fact. Love of truth & fact. Seeking truth and acquiring knowledge could be more integral to the christian faith than most realize. The path to redemption could be defined by making better choices, a process relying upon furthering truth and knowledge. It is possible a person who is a christian should have some of this reflected in how they live their life. It may not merely be faith in Christ. Over time they should learn, gather facts / knowledge and make better life choices as a result. In this way they might be redeemed. So I think anyways.

Most things have a marketing brochure attached to them. Then there is another side to them reflecting reality. Wars are always being marketed as one thing, but the reality can be different. What makes "wars inspired by God" reality, rather than marketing. This applies not only to christianity but also jihad and other religions having hierarchal classes of warriors who waged war.

What do people think it means. Its such a heavily polarized topic, people don't think about it much. What does it mean and why does it have such a powerful impact.
  11. The next major advancement in Christianity

What does Christ's redemption mean though?
  12. The next major advancement in Christianity

Some say the US invasion of Iraq in 2002 was to perpetuate freedom and democracy. Others say it was about oil. Some said the crusades were about religion and liberating the holy land of Jerusalem. Others said they were about the ruling class & organizations like the knights templar amassing large quantities of wealth. Others say nearly all wars, are wars of the rich, fought by the poor. Unless we're talking about the servile wars, slave uprisings in rome. I guess it doesn't matter much which methodology people subscribe to. What is critical is whether some degree of consistency be maintained.

When archaeologists excavated garbage dumps of ancient rome. They were surprised to find many human remains mixed in with trash. In past eras the concept of human life having value wasn't as developed or fleshed out as it became in later eras. It might be inferred by how death was the punishment for breaking most rules. And how it was routine for disfigured or deformed children to be killed. Due to the world revolving around the concept of human life not necessarily having value. Wars, slavery, genocide were common. Everyone waged war upon everyone else. Its not a climate where pacifism or peace were known. Many were unable to produce or gather enough food to feed their children. Leading them to routinely sacrifice children to deity figures via infanticide. Blood sacrifice I'm not certain on. I know it was practiced by the point of it is something I'm not familiar with. To an extent past eras were the infancy of man. Then an adolescent period. Our current era is something like a young adult. God was present for the infancy and adolescent stages. The way a parent would be. Now that man is becoming more mature, God allows us to walk without constant adult supervision. It is possible many choose to skip the developmental stages of human history. They prefer to skip straight to the advanced era. To an extent what can be seen and known of God is limited by our own development.

The Old Testament might seem random. But if read carefully, I think it defines the origins of evil. Conditions relating to free will. All of the fundamental questions a person might pose to christianity are answered in one form or another. Even topics like the problem of evil are addressed indirectly. In the Old Testament we see God attempting to do everything he can to override free will & force people to be moral. Going so far as to punish sons for the sins of their fathers across multiple generations / smiting entire cities. Motives and circumstances are not explicitly defined in this way. But the inconsistency of the practice could indicate there was no need for it to continue as whatever necessity it served had been fulfilled. God has never been about faith to me. It always seemed intuitive that God's existence might someday be proven with science. There were too many coincidences to think otherwise. Since I was a child, I thought of God as a fact.

Gratitude definitely. Prayer is hard. The bible is a book written by prophets and kings. Inspired by God. Many christians have gotten it into their heads that they're better off not reading and not knowing what this book says. On some level reading a book inspired by God is terrifying. Deadlifting 600 pounds is a lighter weight than lifting the bible, reading & comprehending it.
  16. The next major advancement in Christianity

Sin might be defined in terms of bad decisions. To some unknown extent, we can be saved from sin through making better choices. To reduce the degree to which God saves us from ourselves.
  17. The next major advancement in Christianity

There is a story behind every element of christianity. Nothing is ever truly discarded. One way to honor those who came before us is to learn from their mistakes & improve upon the way they did things. This may be the path God desired to be walked. Although in practice it doesn't appear so simple.

It rains so much here. Some cats like water. They sit out in the rain and don't mind baths. /Stranger things
  19. The Height of Idiocy

One thing interesting about our current era. We have witnessed firsthand benefits of technology and science. Yet many believe they're better off knowing nothing of the wealth of information available to them. Its like Israelites seeing God go before them in a cloud, while believing they're better off not knowing God.
  20. How liberty dies

How liberty dies? 2 words: generation gap. Suffering teaches valuable lessons used to build free nations. Generations fail to pass these valuable lessons onto their children. The american founding fathers ideology was shaped by living under an oppressive regime. Perhaps history in that sense might repeat itself should modern day governments choose to become more oppressive.
  21. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Testament_of_Solomon Summary Solomon's young friend is troubled by a demon Solomon prays and is given a magic ring to communicate with & control demons to help his friend Solomon communicates with and controls many demons which he forces to build his temple Solomon lusts after a woman who will only lie with him if he sacrifices crickets to false idols Solomon crushes the crickets, the spirit of God leaves him With the spirit of God departed, Solomon becomes a fool who demons and humans make sport of This is an interesting story. Although if a character in a story had a magic ring to communicate with supernatural forces, the most obvious questions would be to ask of the nature of God, heaven, angels, the afterlife, etc. All of Solomon's questions revolve around the nature, tendencies & descriptions of demons. Which could be viewed as unusual behavior for a believer in God. The concept of Solomon using demons to move massive rocks and pillars used to construct his temple is also interesting. Are there other alt biblical texts that are interesting? Someone recommended the book of enoch years back but I still haven't gotten around to reading it.
  22. Recently, I cut down more than 20 small invasive trees using small hand saws (as pictured above). I was wondering if some degree of qigong training would make it easier for a saw blade to cut wood. If the arm has a greater quantity of qi flowing through it and is gripping the handle of a saw. Would the saw somehow benefit from this in terms of it being able to cut better. Is there a technique for limiting flow of qigong energy through an arm or hand to test a hypothesis of whether qi flow makes a difference. I ask this as some have commented at the speed at which I can cut through things with a hand saw. As it seems unusually fast. Maybe its due to me not looking like someone who used to be able to bench press near to 2x their body weight. I look more like a stereotypical geek these days. I also enjoy overthinking things.
