I stayed with my abusive girlfriend out of fear she would kill me
Patrick Brown replied to Patrick Brown's topic in The Rabbit Hole
I don't understand that at all unless in other cultures it's fine for women to abuse men and vice versa. I think you'll find that even in primitive cultures there's mutual respect between the sexes. I think the acceptable level is that of a civilised person. Just as men shouldn't abuse women in any way neither should women. If you read the whole article you will see she was basically an unrepentant psycho! This kind of extreme case is rare, I suspect, but has increased in recent years. -
LOL You don't pull your punches do you?

Don't get this one at all. How do others interpret this?

Are the poles mainly salt water or fresh water? What effect will them melting have?
-
OK maybe I confused myself and it has something to do with sea life especially plankton dying as a result of a change in the oceans when the poles melt. There's also been talk over the years about the change of ocean currents etc which will effect climate, I'm thinking "The Day After Tomorrow" type thing.
-
Isn't the real problem the carbon sinks of the north and south poles? Isn't it likely that these may have melted anyway given enough time? So people, a lot of scientists, have been saying for a couple of decades that any attempt by man to reverse climate change is futile and the damage is done. Of course I'm still not sure if it was caused by man or not but if we're fucked why are we worrying about it? So how long have we got before the dramatic upheavals begin?
-
Interesting but I did say "elements". Thanks anyway.
-
I'll take your word for that. I generally believe that global warming is happening but why nobody can be certain. Pollution is simpler to understand and is caused by mans activity as a fact.
-
I think radioactive substances might be in a different league. Manufacturing! That's my point exactly as all the crap that is used to create much of the stuff in the modern world can be highly toxic. Add to that radioactive substances and it all looks pretty grim for mankind. Of course this could all be part of evolution as man could simply be acting as a catalyst for creating new elements? I think we've created quite a few already although I'm no chemist.

I'm aware there's a lot of nuclear waste kept underground here in the UK. As to the economics of further using radioactive waste for energy down the line aren't we on a dangerous path? I mean wouldn't it be safer to figure out the science before creating vast quantities of extremely dangerous wast?
-
Isn't climate change just a distraction from the real problem of pollution? Whereas climate change may be happening pollution is happening! We've already gone way too far with atomic waste which will probably come back to bite us so perhaps we shouldn't care? Human sterility is probably just around the corner, well with any luck. Just thought I'd cheer everyone up!

But the fact of the matter is ET was trolling. I did suggest they take more time to respond which would also mitigate the need for constant editing. Of course some of the editing by this member was simply and attempt to inflame people i.e. Flamming! I take it this member has been warned? Anyway let's try and get back on track with the discussion. -
Should an IS Traitor be Allowed to Return to the UK?
Patrick Brown replied to Patrick Brown's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Well I don't believe in the death penalty and my remarks were probably more for effect. Having said that I think at times of war laws revert to a 'emergency standard' which may in many countries include the execution of traitors. The question is are we at war with IS? The UK government has said, at this time, that if this women returns to the UK she will be arrested. I personally don't think she should be allowed back in as she will end up as a kind of martyr for IS and inflame cultural divisions within our country. Her citizenship should be revoked, period. In fact any British citizen leaving the UK to fight against western civilisation should understand that they are renouncing their citizenship and will not be allowed to return. There needs to be a few changes to the law now to stop this sort of thing happening again. A splattering of humour and the odd misunderstanding is fine but when trolling is allowed to drag on it can just rubbish a valid discussion. -

I did complain but I was told to submit a report or something and I couldn't be bothered so it was just easier to ignore the user. Here's the admin who I complained to: https://www.thedaobums.com/profile/55621-dawei/ -

Go to your setting and you can choose to ignore pretty much all content, including responses on threads, be a member. Very good feature and seems to work well as I can no longer see a certain members comments on this thread. Of course if too many people are ignored by me I'll have no one to talk to!!! -

You are guilty of flaming, i.e. Commenting just to be argumentative without having anything of value to add to the conversation. Your only argument on this thread would have been 'human rights' but you're not interested in rights are you? You can carry on if you like but I wont respond here anymore.
