I won't argue with you on this but I suspect most of the stories you've heard are propaganda and at the very least fabricated and at worst staged by the Chinese government as anybody can wear a monks robe or be dressed in one! China is frightened by Buddhism especially Tibetan Buddhism because it's so blatant to those that can see. The rest of the world fears China but the truth is the whole county is about to implode. Most of your responses on this thread have been respectful and interesting but if you don't understand the nature of initiation then all your understanding adds up to nothing. Sorry Lin but I've a feeling that somewhere along the line you've had your head fucked with.
  4. Angry Daoists

Yeah but If "I" happen to mention that politicians are lackeys of the system and people that work are slaves then Hundun will just tell me that "I" need therapy! Up yah fucking arse. *pisses self laughing*
  5. non-dualism & the need for practice

I would say the Dharma of the Vajrayana school is completely obvious, in fact it's so obvious it's a bit of a joke. As I said above the teacher simply teaches correct practice so that the student doesn't physically or mentally hurt themselves. Anybody can practice the Dharma of the Vajrayana school although without a teacher it makes it that much more risky. Remember the whole thing about Tantra and Vajrayana is that it's the fast track to enlightenment. Because of this some of the methods are, at the very least, slightly dangerous which is why people don't talk about them. Having said that the Dharma is as blatant and as explicit as you can get.
  6. Does it mention anything about sitting at the back of the bus, you know just above the engine? It always gave me a stiffy! On a more serious note (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I am actually aware that sexual energy does travel.
  7. Hmm so you really are a good shepherd? You do realise that's illegal in most countries!

That is one way to see it, another way is that the teacher is simply teaching right practice and alerting the student to possible pitfalls which is especially important with Tantra. Note that the Vajrayana school accepts the teachings of the Mahayana and the Hinayana schools. Another interesting point, which may help a few of the uninitiated, is that there are whole teachings explicitly expressed in Buddhist art. These abstract teachings often convey more than words and appeal to the higher mind thereby aiding the student in his awakening. Such methods of teaching have always existed and a classic example are the Oxherding Pictures: http://www.buddhanet.net/oxherd1.htm Of course once such images are conceptualised the meaning can become distorted so it's often better to meditate on the images and ignore any commentary. There are also some pretty explicit teachings in the imagery of Buddhist and Hindu sculpture for those that can see.

I mentioned unwritten teachings earlier on this thread such as the esoteric teachings of the Vajrayana school although some doubted that such teachings exist: I can go even further and say that such esoteric teachings can be understood without a teacher although this is more dangerous as the teacher has valid advice which he has accumulated through the practice of such esoteric teachings. It's somewhat like thinking the inventor of a device will somehow automatically be the master of it! Of course practice makes perfect and it would be folly to imaging that just because you understood something that you are the master of it. My advice has always been the same which is to periodically throw everything away lest you get stuck in a rut! Things which are of use will find their way back to you and thus you attain more from less.

Because if you are frightened of dying then the fear will probably kill you before anything else. When I had ten-thousand flaming swords rushing through my body back in January I wasn't frightened as I figured the worst that could happen was that I would die. Of course the pain was intense (there was a fare bit of screaming ) and many people would have called an ambulance but I didn't because I knew modern doctors wouldn't understand and would just pump me full of drugs and hack me open which would have probably killed me. I didn't sleep for three days and it took me three weeks to recover. Well I doubt if any of the esoteric teachings related to Tibetan Tantric practices have ever been written down or even taught. Buddha wasn't taught enlightenment! There's a whole sphere of insight and teaching which becomes available when a person is ready. It is simply the ability to see. ROFLMOL

Now bear in mind that I'm not Christian and even though I'm a Tao Bum I did take the Bodhisattva vows way back in my early twenties. But remember I don't meditate so I'm not a conventional, err, thingy-what's-its-name! As for there being something wrong with Tibetan Buddhism this could be said of any school/tradition. Having said that many believe that Tibet was overtaken by China as a kind of kharmic punishment for distorting the Dharma. It has also been said that Tibet will be freed and will turn the wheel of Dharma and bring light and understanding to the world. I think the Deli Lama is doing some very important work. Anyway here's the story of St. Christopher and no I'm not a martyr although I often try to help in unrecognised ways which means I take a lot of flack.

I figure the image of St. Christopher is a pretty good teaching.
  18. Now I've wondered this more and more as the years have ticked by and as my understanding has grown. There's no doubt there's wisdom in the Tao Te Ching but there's also a certain air of resignation to ones lot in life which of course would help those that wish to control! Now the Chinese, as a people, obviously exist as a hive mentality, hence communism, and this is perhaps why they're so successful. Unfortunately they probably also win first prize for being the biggest bunch of slaves on the planet. Of course there are some Chinese that aren't enslaved and wish to break out of the enforced system they live in but of course these people are very much in the minority. The biggest trick has always been to convince people they are free when they are in fact enslaved! Most, if not all, social structures are built on some form of mind control so it makes me laugh when you get a Christian finding Islam or a Buddhist turning to Catholicism. At least any true Taoist is quite happy to tell another Taoist to stick the Tao Te Ching up his arse! No homoerotic leanings just non-attachment and multi speed!! So what do you think?
