That’s interesting, the Chu had “priestesses”. -

Yes, a bit the same here. I like to call it a Daoist ‘going with the flow’.

(my bold) I agree, in Ch 3 “其 refers not to the people” , but to the 聖人.

“only that you don't see it.” Lol, what bit of ~ as I see it ~ don’t you understand? “The TTC … (also) addressed the ruler “ Again, that depends on the translation. 聖人 also can be translated as ‘wise and virtuous person’. ~~~ 聖 Kroll dictionary includes the meanings: <possessing wisdom, judgement and moral excellence. a. profoundly wise and virtuous; sage(ly) >

But don’t use the Hoff book!

Does anyone know about the credentials of Hoff? Does he have knowledge of (ancient Chinese) palaeography?
-
Henricks thinks Chapter 5 is two separate unconnected parts. The two parts may have been removed from other chapters by ancient ‘Hoff-like’ reshuffling scribblers.

The ITjing number system started with 1 to 5. The consecutive numbers are opposite to each other. Number 5 is in the middle. The odd numbers are yang (陽 yang2) in white and the even numbers are yin (陰 yin1) in black. 6=5+1, 7=5+2, 8=5+3, 9=5+4. and 10= 5+5 (in the middle again).
