  1. Greeting, Earthlings

Most translations are incorrect. Most commentaries are BS.
  2. I don’t do philosophising. But I can share my own translation. The actual phrase is, ā€œLeer sein aller Kreaturen ist Gottes voll sein, und voll sein aller Kreaturen ist Gottes leer sein.ā€ ā€˜Kreaturenā€˜ means ā€˜ von Gott geschaffenes Wesen’. So it’s not ā€˜things’ but ā€˜beings’. ā€˜Created beings’, as opposed to ā€˜God the creator’. Then ā€˜Wesen’ means ā€˜etw., das lebt oder existiert, denkt und handelt.’ I have always interpreted this in this context as referring to humans only. So for me it has always read as: To be empty of people is to be full of God, and to be full of people is to be empty of God.

  5. My Intro Post

    Hi. Welcome to the forum.
  6. dPumpernickle’s intro, last line page 9, ā€œI fucking love psychedelicsā€. Righto, I take that to explain his translation.
  7. ā€œCould the Peking University Laozi 老子 really be a forgery? Some skeptical remarks* Thies Staack (University of Heidelberg)ā€ https://d-nb.info/1206648031/34
  8. Healthy ego

I agree. I know that to be true for me from my own experience.
  9. Xing Wen argues that the Beida Laozi is a fake manuscript. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/10971467.2017.1451082?scroll=top&needAccess=true#infos-holder

  11. Theoretically speaking there is of course also a third possibility: that the post in question is a load of drivel.
  12. Interesting article about AI psychosis https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c24zdel5j18o
  13. @dpumpernickel I’d like to compare the characters you use with the characters in the source file. E.g. there’s the character ꁒ in a few places (e.g. line 2) in your ch. 1. It’s of interest as there was a taboo on the use of Emperor’s names during the Western Han. I find the Korean link hard to navigate. Ch.1 should be at the start of part 2, but it has a ē¬¬äø€ē« ļ¼ˆēŽ‹ęœ¬äø‰åå…«ē« ļ¼‰ch. 1 (Wang’s ch. 38). Searching for part 1 I cannot find it; ch. 1 for me impossible to find. Could you please copy and post here, only the source file of ch. 1 (from https://blog.naver.com/PostView.nhn?isHttpsRedirect=true&blogId=jaseng54&logNo=90169460338aka the Beijing University Laozi (Beida).
  14. @BigSkyDiamond I sent you a pm
  15. @dpumpernickel Impressive use of resources. I like your approach: ā€œā€¦ cosmology … ancient Chinese perception. … each glyph’s image.ā€ ā€œI have not made most of the substitutions … stuck with mostly original ā€¦ā€ ā€œ … bias in foreword and key ā€¦ā€ From the first link I gather you are a Korean speaker? The Proton Drive link is not accessible to me. Could you possibly copy just your translation of only one chapter and post it here? Imo chapter 1 is the most difficult one to translate, so I’d very much like to see that.

  17. Don't know

Hi WhyQQ. Welcome to the forum.
  18. ā€œto be empty of all created things is to be full of God, and to be full of created things is to be empty of Godā€. Meister Eckhart (RC priest, c. 13th century A.D.)
  19. I actually do think that could be the whole message. But could you really be an itinerant mendicant monk? .
  20. Hi Giacomond. Welcome to the forum. I am sorry for your loss. I too am interested in ā€œrebirth in Dao-ismā€œ. What are your findings? A ā€œcompact way to study Daoism/Taoismā€, ah if only I knew. Still, here’s my advise: never waste your time on commentaries.
  21. show your restorations

To do from this to this
  22. Indeed. I see it in all systems/religions. And my.DDJ ch. 1, warns about precisely this. Great post Mark, thanks.
