揍 - ‘to return’ , imo means ‘reincarnation’. Stefan Kappstein (Shen Shu, p449 Dutch copy), “the Chinese culture from its inception believed in the cyclical return of the soul in a new body.”
  5. Everyone post some favorite quotes!

To ‘go forth’ refers to when a layperson leaves home to live the life of a Buddhist renunciate among a community of fully ordained monks. ( Google)

@Daniel re. nothingness “When chapter 5 compares Dao to the bellows at work, it is clearly suggesting that as a productive emptiness, the Nothingness of Dao is the emptiness of the female womb.

Wondering about this too, ‘brainwashing’. It can be difficult to understand each other when coming from different traditions, hard to connect with the terminology. I all of a sudden think I might know what ‘brainwashing’ is after all. I now think it might be what I call ‘Free Flow’. That’s when it’s like my head is a space through which a river of energy flows from one side to the other, filling the whole space. Feeling like the energy comes flowing in from the outside, flows through my brain, and flows outside again on the other side. Does that to you in any way sound like ‘brainwashing’ in your tradition?
  9. I did not give you permission to use my posts. (I have deleted all my posts in this thread.)
  10. This I know to be true for me. Well, you completely lost me there (scratching my head). True ime. The power of being nothing special.

Sounds familiar, mine at times quite not-mild. Looking forward to an answer.
  12. Great. And now I’ve deleted my post too. Delete and forget about it.

Agreed. Exactly, it’s totally unsubstantiated. I totally agree. We need all of our emotions; it’s about using them in a constructive way. Exactly, that’s what baffled me, he left out the “IF”. Without the “IF” he imo crosses over into ‘feel good chat’/religion/counselling/whatever you call it but it’s not science. Thanks for your reply. Best of luck to your dad.

Imo he is a cruel bastard, as he uses info gathered by abusing animals. “
